Oops! I had plenty of pace in hand so I decided I should be able to answer a call while driving. It might work at other tracks, but not here. I hit the wall and instantly killed the engine. Guess I don't have enough tallent to talk on the cell phone and drive.

Unofficial LapChart

Lost internet connection again!  Huh
Perhaps everybody can check if they are (still) using ISDN for network setting?

I think my problem is at my end, I don't just lose connection to the server or lobby, its my internet connection that shuts down. It does seem to do it mainly when I am racing though, rest of the time it seems to work fine.  Huh

@Geoffers: Where I know it & nothing is more frustrating  Angry
...& too bad Mike, I had no chance to threaten you - you ran over a sec faster a lap - my only hope was...but only a small mistake so I could get past you  Cool I abused the Volvo everything I could without getting closer, unbelievable things went well at 20 laps...ohh lap 11, was lucky when I hit a rock. Fortunately, I was down in speed & only little damage  Grin
If I must be honest, I dreaded every lap.  The car was filled up to 23 laps fuel & what happens? Is just started on the last lap when the red light begins to shine  Shocked ...that's why I drove the most economical I've ever done...& I crossed the line YEAH my first victory after surgery:laugh:

Congratulations Pelle (nice win I Am Not Worthy) Mark and Syd   thumbup2.

Finally I was able to find a setup which allowed me to brake without crashing in front of the switchbacks. Roll Eyes
That enabled me to improve my best lap from 2:29,7 from last wednesday to 2:26.
Beginning of race was fine. Had a nice little battle with Syd.
Obviously I had a slightly better setup and could go faster during the first laps so Syd let me surpass (thxs).
In lap 5 I could register a new personal best with 2:24,5 which highly pleased me.
But I chose a lower tyre pressure so after lap 5 car handling worsened noticeable.
Furthermore I made some smaller mistakes due to lack of concentration so Syd and Tibernius
finally could pass again for good.

Seems that I prefer to hunt than to be hunted! Wink

At the end of lap 8 I lost the car at the beginning of the home straight and crashed head-on into a signal light
and had to retire immediately.

Nonetheless a great event and great fun as ever.

Hope to see the finish line again soon  Angry

See you next time.

My internet connection has been dropping right lefty and centre over the last 3 weeks I have checked all the connections replaced my BT hub with a spare and it still does it. BT are in denial that there is a problem. Its interesting to know that I am not on my own with this recurring problem.  Undecided

Smiley I thought I had really blown it for this race as I had not considered the Aston or the Volvo for this thinking they would be to heavy. I had practiced in the Alpine and it felt so nice I thought this must be the car for the job.....What a fool!!  Roll Eyes

Starting in P6 and taking it steady I figured a few would come to grief with hairpins, lamp posts, hanging baskets and bollards.  Grin Grin
Ade I think got taken out by a hanging basket of flowers on lap one.......At least that's what I think he muttered on team speak  Grin Followed by "I'm off for a beer".  Grin

Had a nice drag race down the straight with Geoffers TR4 on lap two and then managed to get a gap of about 5 sec's until he discoed.  Embarrassed Then sat in P3 for some time until Mike got the phone call to crash..........Excellent P2  Grin.

I had a few moments with lack of concentration and trying to keep an eye on my BT hub for possible disconnection in the closing laps.  Undecided  So I am gob smacked to have finished second on the podium with some lucky points hauled in. Well done Pelle & Syd great racing.

Was surprised how nicely the Volvo handled around here which made it the obvious choice for me on such an unforgiving track. Ade got the jump on me down to T1, but looked like he just clipped the rocks going through the twisty bit allowing me back into 3rd.

After a few laps Mike and Pelle were pulling away from me and I found myself in an ever increasing gap. Sure enough, the concentration just went and I clipped the same rocks which caught Ade earlier. I ended up facing the wrong way and when I planted the front into the armco on the other side of the road trying to turn I decided it was probably best to esc out  Sad

Thanks Tony for the track choice, nice to just have to reacquaint with the track.  Found TR4 too under geared so tried the Merc – not raced it since the Antipodean Series I use to race in on early Sunday mornings.  Found it quiet nice to drive with an even higher gear than I raced – engine over revving most of the way down that long back straight.

In practice managed to break the 2:30 barrier and in qualifying I got into the 2:28s, which I almost matched in the race. Had a reasonable start and managed to avoid any problems on lap 1 and was ahead of Tony and Alex when I had one of those nasty offs, braking for the second hairpin – I don't know why I wasn't under any pressure.  I rode up the grass bank and finished up behind the Armco more or less at corner apex.  I managed to reverse back until the end of the Armco and continue with race - last.  After a while I'd cut down the gap to the car in front, think reading the Chat, perhaps Tony and Alex had had problems.

After that I managed to close gap to Tony then got him in vision and we had a few laps of me closing gap one lap and Tony increasing it the next.  Eventually I got behind him and we had a few close laps until he made an error and I managed to get by.  On the next lap I saw him catching me and he caught up around about the flat left hander before the second hairpin. He was alongside in the breaking area and I went two wheels on the grass and hit the concrete block at the start of the Armco killing the car.  A pity the last few laps could have been entertaining.    Once again thanks Tony for an enjoyable evenings racing.

I thought that was a nice event. I was especially taken by the starting line up with so many different makes on the grid.

It was a real shame the Ade's Healey hit an unevenly placed hay bail. He must of been angry as hell about that, but this circuit is littered with such hard obstacles. Just best to avoid the sides I guess. Still on the bright side at least the Healey survives for another round.

Much of my race was taken up with trying to catch Alex whilst keeping Bill behind me. Bills Merc had a huge off at the harbour hairpin and had actually left the track. But somehow he managed to get the car back on the tarmac and was catching me at an alarming rate taking seconds of my lead at every lap. I assumed his car was too badly damaged to be any threat. How wrong could I be!

Alex in his Triumph seemed to be keeping his lead after every lap but he must of had some trouble as I soon saw him in the distance and gradually closed in for a pass. I had to wait to be lapped before I could strike and soon made the pass in my faster car on the long back straight.

That caused me to relax a bit and Bill flying past me a couple of laps later took me completely by suprise. He screamed past. I then followed him for a few laps before outbraking him at the same harbour hairpin. Bill unfortunately lost it under braking and hit an obstacle which I guess killed his car as I never saw him again.

I never had a chance to catch anyone else as they were too far up the road so I settled down to a couple of serene laps until I took the flag.

Great speed from the leaders and sorry to everyone who didn't make the distance for whatever reason.
