Anybody know a good plumber?!!

Yeah ...Me !!   Although im a bit far away.

Got called out at 6pm and didnt get back till midnight so apologies for not being able to make the race.

hope it was a good one if not a small grid.

LOL Dan, shame.

Fixed it myself today. Well got the heating going again, there is still a problem to sort out.

Yesterday morning there was no sign of trouble, heating came on as normal on the timer. Then last night as soon as I walked in I could feel it was freezing. Sure enough no heating because the system had completely de-pressurised, absolutely flat as a haddock. So it had dropped over 1 bar in a day. Tried the filling connection to re-pressurise but it was going back to zero within seconds of closing the valve. There was no visible signs of a leak on any external pipework or damp patches on walls or ceilings. Couldn't contact my plumber and it has turned out he is on holiday in Thailand!! So today I blanked off the one easily accessible radiator run. The main system is small bore from a manifold but a couple of years ago we had an extension built on the back and they took the feed for the radiator from the manifold feed/return under the floor boards on the landing. I disconnected the T off's and fitted blanks and lo and behold the system holds it's pressure. So there is one massive leak on that extra extension rad circuit. It runs across the first floor back bedroom then in to a sort of duct created when we boxed in the toilet soil pipe to avoid moving it. The pipes then run through the concrete floor to the radiator on the far wall. I can't believe the leak is under the floor boards or there would have been some visible damage on the ceiling below. So it's either in the duct and the water has just ran down in to the cavity, or in the concrete floor and the water is just soaking away some how. But I can't see an easy way of repairing it!!!

Sorry not in the right frame of mind.

I'd end up making a mistake and spoiling someone else's race.

Also sorry to Gary in practice, that was uncalled for. I understand you didn't mean it.

your on the pace mate, just don't get any quicker  Wink

absolutely flat as a haddock.

Point of order (I'm sure you were angling for it): haddock aren't flat. Sole or plaice are flat, rays are mostly flat, crabs are flat (if you apply a car to them), but haddock are most emphatically not flat.

They are if you sit on them long enough.  angel

Congratulations to Mike on a perfect drive and apologies to him for chanting incantations throughout the second half of the race in an attempt to make him crash. Wink
