Moderator's Report

See below for incidents. We had one transgression of the reset rules.
Just a reminder it is useful for replay clips to be submitted, especially if you think warp might be a factor, but there's no need to waste your time submitting a clip from the server replay. We look at that already.

Server replay time: 0h05m51s

Mike T was closing on Hannah when he tapped him. It did not cause either driver to go off or lose any places. There was a speed differential and it is clear, when he realised how fast he was closing, Mike braked hard to slow down but couldn't completely avoid contact. Warp may also have played a factor.
Whilst Hannah is entitled to take an earlier braking position for the corner this would be the appropriate rule;

Simple Rear End Shunt: Penalty 1 Place
The victim was in full control but braked early (not counting lap 1) compared with the average for the division. The shunter had not followed the victim at a safe distance for a lap or two. The shunter was in full control.

However, as no one was affected and warp is a possible factor, it would not be deemed a full incident/shunt as such. Under the circumstances advice is appropriate.

  • Michael Turneradvice — Take extra care when approaching slower cars

Server replay time: 0h06m00s

On the following straight, after the above, Mike went right to overtake Hannah. The straight is very wide and Hannah could see Mike moving to go past on the right in his mirrors. Mike is making his pass when Hannah moves across and a collision ensues.
This is a very tricky one as Hannah is entitled to follow his line and Mike had no overlap at the point of contact. However Hannah should (and could) of seen Mike was going to pass and, being a wide straight, should not have moved across.
There are two possible penalties here;

Simple Side by Side contact: Penalty 1 Place
On a straight, the overtaking car moves out to overtake, maintains his line and has NOT achieved 100% overlap but the overtaken driver moves across into him. Penalty for overtaken driver.

Blatant Blocking/Weaving: Penalty 2 Places
The blocking driver changed his line in RESPONSE to the following car's movement and after the following car was committed to his line. Contact is made.

However extenuating circumstances are Mike had NO overlap (in fact his front wheel had only just crossed Hannah's rear), Hannah made a single move on his normal line and Mike could not assume a gap would be there and perhaps the safest way would have been an overtake to the left where there was plenty of room.

Accordingly a penalty place will not be applied but on balance Hannah's contribution was the more severe.

  • hannah (hannah hurricane)warning — Leave room for other drivers — also, 1 place lost for penalty points
  • Michael Turnercaution — Take care when passing and consider using the widest line

Server replay time: 0h29m56s

Fabio takes a second reset. The rules for Privateers are clear on this; 'Any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result'. It is appreciated a second Stop & Go was taken but this makes no difference.

So with three races left Tommie V O heads up the Works but others still have a chance for glory. Over in the Privateers it appears Bernie is attempting to regain his crown in the 67's, held twice before the last being Season 16. He's not there yet and some other contenders may be intending to spoil his party.

Subject to a viable number of entrants we are running two separate grids for Works and Privateers drivers this season. The Works will run on PRO Damage and Privateers will run on Intermediate Damage with the allowance of ONE shift-R reset. No Shift-Rs are allowed in practice unless authorized by the moderator. A Shift-R (fault or not) MUST be followed by a Stop & Go. A Shift-R for tyres/fuel is not allowed. Any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result.

Race List = IGOR
Server(s);
Works = UKGPL_5
IP address = ping myjamesonline.net
Privateers = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 06-02-2011
Time = 21:00 UK time
Track = Edmonton International Sppedway
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = Works; PRO / Privateers; INT
Qualifying time = 35 minutes. Don't start until 30 mins left on clock to allow everyone to join.
Race length = 50 minutes (laps 32)
Password: see above

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
The track can be downloaded from : http://www.javinester.co.uk/gpl/edmonton.html
Add-on’s available at : n/a

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 pm UK Time

Reserve drivers should not join the server(s) until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday). We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators.

With the token system chassis strategy will be a factor. A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

Chassis costs;
Lotus 20 / Eagle 17 / Ferrari 15 / Brabham 10 / Cooper 5 / Honda 3 / BRM 0

To see your current tokens hover your mouse over your total points on the championship standings page. Ten tokens will be added when you cross the start line.

The Championship is split into two sub-divisions, namely Works and Privateers. The driver split will be;

Edmonton International Speedway, also known as Speedway Park, was a 251-acre multi-track auto racing facility located at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. At its peak, it had capacity for over 30,000 fans.
In the late 1940s, the dirt-surfaced Breckenridge Oval opened on the site. In 1952, the oval was shortened and paved, and the facility was renamed Speedway Park. The oval had seating for 8,000.
In 1968, the road course opened in time for the first Can-Am race. Over the years, the facility also hosted Formula Atlantic, Formula 1600, Formula 5000, Trans-Am, as well as NHRA-sanctioned drag racing.
Qualico Developments was the track owner in the latter years, and closed the track in 1982 to convert the land to housing. Edmonton would be without any form of professional racing until Capital City Raceway Park opened in 1991 (now Castrol Raceway).

I find this track super hard to get any flow going. Keep spinning and when I don't I am doing high 1:40's. Sigh.

Keep at it Paul.  Just try and go for staying on track and get 5 or 6 laps at 1:40, then edge it up a little, if you spin go back to trying 1:40's for a few laps; all track time is good.  You're doing ok.

If you then keep spinning regardless post up where i.e. turn exit or entry, and an idea what setup you're using.  Remember the 67's are arguably the trickiest cars.

There's years of experience here on the forum. You will probably get loads of different answers from as many different people; try them all if you can, take the best bits from all THAT WORK FOR YOU, and you'll edge a little off each time.

Edit: Just to reinforce that a little; a setup for someone doing 1:35's will probably not work for one lapping at 1:30 or 1:40, so you have to do what works for you at that time.

I really appreciate its not easy and what seems to be ok one lap will seem wrong the next.  Keep at it though.

Appreciate that Steve. Actually I can't complain. I decided to have a go at the GPL65 rank given that I found a good setup for Kyalami (with a little help from my friends) and I have taken off 100 seconds or so in one evening Smiley Just can't get to grips (literally) with the 67's... Still I feel that the progress I have made means that I might even get a podium in the Novices next year (or maybe the year after lol).

I won't be doing one for GTs at Reims though (not enough time on my hands), but the track isn't too complex anyway.  Tongue

This thread is up & Forum running again, grats.

Thx to Hristo for a nice track guide, but I get a shock when you first say 1:27.xx times in Honda  Shocked

I've got Gem+ to work & perfect with the race list, but I think I freeze in chat  Huh
We were more in the chat room, just managed to say 'hi'...freeze...maybe we all looked after a Edmonton practice server ?

Well, since it turned out I didn't have a Honda setup at all, I must've been wrong. It was probably Brabham or Ferrari.  Wink

Practise server up.

I'm having to uncomfortably push to get 1:31's so guess I'll be trawling around the back again probably more likely in 33's.

Hi Fulvio, I think you've found a 'blip' in the system in that it's not halving the tokens if you miss the first 5 races. I was sort of aware of this but completely forgot to mention it to Giz when the season started (sorry), will try and remember for S21 depending what we run. We can't manually change the tokens so was keeping my fingers crossed it wouldn't crop up.
So the answer - I'll ask Giz if he can manually deduct 5 from you so please treat your tokens as zero for now. I must admit I don't follow peoples tokens as lm2 handles it but a quick scan of the table shows you are the only one in that position.

can anyone advise me on setups for the BRM, I'm struggling big time! There aren't any on the alternative db, currently using one of H's from Riverside.  I am miles off the pace but seem to be driving a reasonable line...not done much praccy though.

I heard Kubica may have to have his hand off, that'd be a massive shame, I think he's one of the best at the mo
