Done a few today.  Best of 1:20.8 on fuel but mostly 1:21s.

Not an easy track but at least it has grip.

It's not going to be another ghost race is it?  First Gary, now Andy...

I'll start a practice session from the train as usual this evening.

Server on its way - I remembered to check the start type this time, looks like it sets it back to standing every time you change track. Roll Eyes

I was all over the place after a few laps. Continually falling out with the kerbs.

I was getting dangerous so thought it best to hang up the helmet. Sorry.

Having not driven the car in a month and not driven the track in quite a lot longer than that I turned up just moments before the clocked ticked over for qualifying. Grabbed Gizmo's setup, but felt too much like wrestling the car, so after qualifying in that with a slow time I swapped to the setup I already had which was much pointier. My fastest lap in the race was 1.5 seconds faster than my qualifying time so it shows you how much some track time can help with speed!

After trying to keep up with Mike, Dave and Paul in the first stint, the second stint was trying to put pressure on Dave. I closed to within 1 or 2 seconds with my fastest laps of the race, but that killed the tyres and I could never quite put as much pressure on again and we finished just 2-3 seconds apart in the end, but I was never in danger of actually managing to overtake.

Coming last in class sounds bad, but as there were only 3 in class, it's not to shabby a result. Wink

Phew, what a race! sweatdrop punk

Finally started to click in qualifying and got 3rd on the grid; figured I had a chance of keeping up with Bananaman until about half way into the stint when the tyres would start to go, but to my surprise I was able to keep up without too much trouble, helped in part by him looking like he was struggling with the balance of the car quite badly.

Mike was starting to pile on pressure from behind until going into turn 1 I omitted to downshift into 3rd and ran wide onto the asphalt strip on the outside; gathered it back up but then ran wide on the way into turn 2, letting Mike by, but luckily not Shark.

A few laps later Paul crashed, which left me fending off Shark until the pit stops. He stopped a lap early but was burning more fuel than me, so I gained a second or so there, and we resumed battle on fresh tyres. He pushed like crazy for a few laps and I had no choice but to respond, driving just a little beyond my comfort zone. To spice things up, we caught Ken, who hadn't stopped yet, and on such a tight track the DP had no real straight line speed advantage, so with Shark breathing down my neck, when I had a slightly better exit out of the final turn I threw myself into a do or die effort over the curbs in turn 1, somehow not spinning, running into Ken or bouncing off. Grin angel

After about half the stint Shark's challenge faded, but only slightly, and I never really had a chance to relax until the last lap. Couldn't risk finishing both last in class and behind him. winkiss

Grabbed Gizmo's setup, but felt too much like wrestling the car

Yeah, I felt like I was wrestling a brace of eels for most of the race. I've been trying to train myself to drive more unstable setups and it's starting to pay off.

Was pleased with pole and pushed hard in the first stint to try and build a gap to the pack.  This worked out well and allowed me to take tyres at my stop without worrying too much about the gap closing to uncomfortable proportions.

Tried to keep it steady from here but had a few minor moments where the concentration started to waver and found myself in the middle of Ken and Paul's battle in the last few laps.  Decided to let them duke it out and let Paul through.

Congrats to Mike and Dave.

Small turnout again  Huh Real shame, as the sportscars offer some of the best racing IMO.

I'm always wary of this track and got almost no chance at warmup before qualifying.  Over-drove my way to 4th on the grid and settled in behind Dave and Paul.  Didn't settle very well and almost binned it for good when I mucked up the fast chicane, then managed to get my head down and closed back up.

Dave then went for a wild ride at T1 and not long after Paul spun at the hairpin, I just squeezed past on the inside, then pushed very hard to try and break away.  Slowly I was building a gap and when I made my stop and still had 14 seconds back to Dave, I knew that all I had to do was not crash.  Focus was promptly lost and my times fluctuated wildly which gave 7 seconds back to Dave by the end.

Now on to a proper track again, Silverstone Smiley

Congrats to Brendan and everyone who finished.
