I have just had to repost this race thread as I got the date wrong the first time. I had said the race was on the 12th but, it is of course Sunday the 13th. Very embarrassing. Sorry for any confusion.

We are using the UKGTR version of the track with extra tight cut warnings on some corners. I highly recommend practising with the UKGTR version of the track. It has no changes to anything other than the cut warning detection. Mid 1.33 so far in the Aston.

Another dull race at Donni. My own fault because I refuse to practice for a (dull) track I know too well & have done a million times before. Was running in 2nd for a while, but got quite sloppy through lack of focus & had a couple of spins of my own doing. Still 30 mins to go, but decided to call it a night. The turn out was poor tonight (but that wasn't the cause of the dull race, as we all (except Jon) seemed to be about the same pace), I would have to assume that it came down to the track/car combo? (yes MJ, we know... running Evo would be an instant hit )

My race was pretty dull up to when I had 2 spins before my pitstop. Think I was falling asleep. After the pistops I was in 4th having decided to repair the 997 at the pitstop. After that it was just a case of chasing as hard as I could. I ended up having some nice fights with TT and H@L but that was just the warm up for the battle with Spanner. I could never really get close enough to have a proper go in the turns as the old RS(R)? just kept on pulling away on the straights. I kept reeling it in on braking but I never managed to get by. Thought I was going to at the old hairpin around the outside but it didn't quite work out for me. I really enjoyed the chase though and it got the old blood pumping again Grats Spanner

Dull race? Donington is never dull for me. Came home late and was able to join for quali, hope I didn't cause any problems with my invisible car. Qualified last 'cause I wanted to try some more laps with race setup, so I only pumped out some fuel. Last minute changes payed off this time, as I reduced front tyre usage considerably. Used mistakes of others to gain some places, small mistakes, mind you. Well, except for Legzy. Pitted late, added fuel only. H@l tried the same trick or changed to softs. H@l, only Vertigo can afford that. Came out on track just behind Spanner but couldn't hold his pace. Spanner overtook H@l, then JonM passed me - Vert can't really compete in a straight line speed with the porker. Not that I could last in a porker against him. Anyways, managed to close on H@l and pass on the outside of the last corner and stayed in front 'till the end, finishing 3rd. Tyres were over 25 then and the grip was like driving on ice. Low turnout doesn't mean it's not worth racing. Well done Jon for 2nd with the children wailing in the background over need to fulfill his fatherly duties. Special note to Spanner:

Decided to go with the 996RS as i felt i didnt want to take the 997 again for the umpteenth time and i thought i was slower in the old one plus its harder to drive and setup compared to the new one. I guess the more unstable nature of it kinda helped in qually, never having run with such low fuel before and surprised to start 2nd behind Jon. Thought i'd finally try and do the 'normal' fuel strategy so started full so just needed to add another 25L or so. First few laps felt ok with a gap developing behind to legzy but then the car started getting a bit lively allowing legzy and H@L to close up which made for a good first half to the race. Waited till half way till i pitted but the time spent adjusting the pit board didnt help as i ended coming out about 10 secs behind H@L More surprisingly was seeing Jon come out of the pits way behind, behind TT even. Tooka little while to get the tyres up but was able to be quite consistent and some how reeled H@L in rather easily, he must have been struggling. Managed to get him into the first corner then spent the next few laps watching Jon ominously gaining. Wasnt expecting to last particularly long but ended up being a good race there. At any moment going through the chicane i'm expecting to loose it so i hope the braking mid corner didnt put people off too much lol I kinda guessed you going to try something on the last few laps but was still shocked when Jon tried into the old hairpin. Almost threw it away in the last corner of the last lap, going too deep and only just getting it round and alowing Jon to gain and ended up crossing the line side by side! Real shame about the low turn out, and it always seems to feed itself but i hope people will reappear when the real season starts. I can understand people may not feel the need to turn up for these but those of us that do miss you all :'( I see this is my first ever win
