Hi chaps,

All of a sudden my Trading Paints downloader can't seem to find an Internet connection, despite there definitely being one - has anyone else seen this same problem by any chance?

I've tried uninstalling and starting over, then Raimo mentioned I should delete the user level config files (E:\Documents and Settings\mr_oily\Application Data\TradingPaints Downloader) so I did that and reinstalled just in case but still no joy. I've also checked my firewall and security apps and they're all disabled plus I've searched on the iR forum and there are other people with the problem but nobody with a fix it seems - I'm getting a bit stuck for options.

Error message reads....

"Connection failed!

Unable to conect to server to verify version. Please check your Internet connection and launch program again"

Once I see that the app just shuts down and there's nothing more I can do with it.

If anyone can shed any light I'd be most grateful!

Cheers,

James

are you using a separate firewall or windows own ??

if your using 3rd party firewall just make sure the windows firewall is turned off I've know it so sneak back ON if you do any network adjustments  and that  could be blocking ya?

if not then I'm stuck for an answer apart from bid you re-download the TP installer or use one already downloaded?   if you already had the installer then try getting the new one and try that

Yo James,
I didn't ask if you had checked your proxy settings, so you may try go to Start / Control Panel / Internet Options / Connections tab / LAN server button (near the bottom) -- Uncheck "Use proxy server".

You may also check your hosts file for errors. Open it in Notepad. Its located here: %systemdrive%\%windir%\System32\drivers\etc
