Moderator's Report

A bit of a thriller with Pelle fighting his way from the back to finish second (but see below). It all goes down to the wire in the final race.
One general issue; we had some cases of what could be deemed corner cutting with a possible view to overtaking. There are no specific rules on this at present, although one may be in the pipeline, but corner cutting is not something we encourage. It can give an unfair advantage and can also be dangerous. By corner cutting I don't mean just a couple of wheels astray.

Server replay time: 0h02m56s

Pelle is following John and appears to try and overtake by going off track at the corner. A collision with John then ensues.
This falls under the following;

Very Ambitious Overtake: Penalty 2 Places
The overtaking driver had not achieved any degree of overlap at turn-in. The overtaking driver WOULD have made the corner. Penalty for overtaking driver.

However warp may be a factor in this as the server does not show direct contact, although a collision probably would have happened anyway, and Pelle came out worse by losing places.
Accordingly the penalty will stand but with a Warning only.

Server replay time: 0h02m57s

Please see the notes above regarding corner cutting. We disable checkpoints for online races as GPL can be a little temperamental in applying it. However, under normal circumstances, Pelle would have been black flagged and made to pit. Accordingly, a 20 second time penalty is also being applied in recognition of this.

Moderator's Report

A win for Ronnie is lining things up for a thrilling season finale. Two reported incidents in this one.

Server replay time: 0h36m48s

Mike is following Hannah but is keeping at a reasonable distance. Hannah loses control going into the armco and off the racing line. Whilst not completely coming to a halt he does immediately carry on straight back onto the line in the corner. Mike has slowed considerably but does carry on.
The only scenario that seems to fit this is a Bad Rejoin. Knowing he had lost control and knowing there was traffic close behind he really should have taken time to check he could safely carry on. Can this be considered to be a 'rejoin' as he didn't actually leave the track as such by virtue of the armco. Well yes in that he was off the main tarmac.
This would appear to be the scenario;

Blatant Bad Rejoin: Penalty 2 Places
The rejoining driver was NOT in full control but nevertheless attempted to drive straight back onto the racing line without any consideration for other drivers and contact was made.

However I do feel there is some mitigation in this case. Firstly perhaps Mike should have been a little more cautious in that Hannah was not completely off track and it could expected, not having come to a complete halt, he would have continued. Also whilst yes it is a bad rejoin it doesn't fit the normal scenario of completely going off and then rejoining. Lastly, it is clear Hannah was not completely in control and had not come to a halt so it could be said he was still trying to correct himself when the collision happened rather then deliberately attempting to get back onto the racing line.

Under these circumstances I am going to call this a racing incident but with advice to Hannah to do everything possible to stay clear if you have lost control and advice to Mike to be extra cautious if someone has lost control into a barrier but not come to a halt, you can't predict what will happen.

Server replay time: 0h44m08s

Following an earlier collision Fabio is left on track facing the wrong way. Hannah has gone off slightly further back, possibly from losing control trying to avoid the incident ahead. Hannah was facing the right way and moved off before Fabio. Fabio could, or should, have seen Hannah move as he was facing towards him. It is irrelevant whether Hannah had already been lapped as he clearly had, for want of a better term, the 'right of way'. Fabio then turned across directly into Hannah causing the incident.

This clearly is a bad rejoin as Fabio had come to a complete halt and was in control of what he was doing. I do not consider it 'appalling' as it cannot be said Fabio was actually trying to rejoin onto the racing line so the rules have this;

Blatant Bad Rejoin: Penalty 2 Places
The rejoining driver drove straight back onto the track, but not the racing line, without checking for other cars and contact was made.

However I am again going to allow some mitigation here. The reason being is that I think we should allow for an element of confusion ie they are both off/out and both naturally want to restart but it happens to be at the same time. However the onus was clearly on Fabio to wait as he was facing completely the wrong way. Accordingly the standard 2 place penalty has been reduced to 1.

And so we move to the penultimate race. In Works Tommie is leading but the crown is not yet guaranteed. The same goes for Bernie over in the Privateers.

We are running two separate grids for Works and Privateers drivers this season. The Works will run on PRO Damage and Privateers will run on Intermediate Damage with the allowance of ONE shift-R reset. No Shift-Rs are allowed in practice unless authorized by the moderator. A Shift-R (fault or not) MUST be followed by a Stop & Go. A Shift-R for tyres/fuel is not allowed. Any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result.

Race List = IGOR
Server(s);
Works = UKGPL_Gpg
IP address = 62.195.32.131
Privateers = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 20-02-2011
Time = 21:00 UK time
Track = Circuito Del Jarama
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = Works; PRO / Privateers; INT
Qualifying time = 35 minutes. Don't start until 30 mins left on clock to allow everyone to join.
Race length = 50 minutes (laps 33)
Password: see above

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
The track can be downloaded from : http://jarama.gaiztor.com/index_en.html
Add-on’s available at : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=5013

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 pm UK Time

Reserve drivers should not join the server(s) until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday). We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators.

With the token system chassis strategy will be a factor. A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

Chassis costs;
Lotus 20 / Eagle 17 / Ferrari 15 / Brabham 10 / Cooper 5 / Honda 3 / BRM 0

To see your current tokens hover your mouse over your total points on the championship standings page. Ten tokens will be added when you cross the start line.

The Championship is split into two sub-divisions, namely Works and Privateers. The driver split will be;

WORKS drivers

Evil Clive
Hristo
Tim FMG
Steve Bird

REPLAYS
Privateers server replays will be posted in the usual place after the event. Works will now be posted at http://grandprix.xs4all.nl/ . When downloading please check the timetable for other races and DO NOT download while another race is being run.

The Circuito del Jarama (Circuit of Jarama), formerly known as Circuito Permanente del Jarama (Permanent circuit of Jarama) is a 2.115 mile race course in Madrid, Spain which has hosted nine Formula One Spanish Grand Prix. The circuit was built by Alessandro Rocci in 1967 north of Madrid in arid scrub land. It had a short straight and most of the course consisted of tight, twisty corners so overtaking was extremely difficult. Jarama hosted its last Formula One race in 1981 although it still holds occasional sports car and motorcycle races.

Looks like you have 19 tokens + you will get 10 when you cross the start line so yes you can use a Ferrari.

Just hover the pointer over your total points and it will show your tokens; you currently have 19 and you will get a further 10 as you cross the start line so you have plenty for the Fez, in fact you could use any car.

Well you should be left with 14 tokens after the race. So, as the rules stand, if you count in your ten at the next race you can also have the Ferrari at Monza if you want...

I doubt that's possible even in 69s, lol. Probably a warp/lag time uploaded along with other replay exports. I bet there's no replay to validate the lap. In fact, Jarama isn't one of those officially confirmed WR tracks, is it?

@Paul - I tried to find a replay of the race where I did that 27, but it seems I didn't save the replay. From the race report I wrote back then it appears as if the lap was a one-off, but I hope to be able to at least get close to it.  Roll Eyes

Correct, no sign of a replay and yes it is a fastest lap as opposed to and official world record. Very odd that it has not been removed off the GPLRank site where I notice you reside next in line with an incredible but believable 1.25.977!!!!

They don't remove laps, regardless if they're valid or not. I hold a couple of unconfirmed WRs myself.  Cheesy

Only some tracks have 100% verified and confirmed WRs, but even some of those tracks have lap times which are faster than the verified WRs. It's just that those times don't show up when you select "verified world records only" on the Show World Records page.

As for high 25, it must be with the Lotus?
