A couple of weeks ago when I was one of the six involved in the "Super pole", I thought it a waste of time. Sitting there twiddling my thumbs for 15 mins this time, watching the top 6 drivers not get near their previous times was not entertaining & did not enhance my enjoyment of the evening.

Luckily worse was to follow. Roll Eyes

Joined the grid. Waited. The lights turn green & I eventually react & make a rubbishy slow get away. Yet I get black flagged?!!! Huh Angry
Was my pressing of the gas peddle so delayed that the marshals decided to punish me? Undecided
I drove round & completed my 1st lap, hoping the incorrect black flag would disappear. It didn't & I saw about 8 other drivers ducking into the pits Shocked
So I pitted at the end of the 2nd, thinking that it must have black flagged everyone. I stopped & hit enter very quickly... but then thought that I'd seen that it had awarded me 2 stop goes for the non-existent false start, but I couldn't be sure as I'd already hit enter. I left the pits & had no black flag on display, but then I saw Clive doing his 2nd pit stop.... Undecided
As i approached the pits on the next lap, a couple of drivers showed as DQ on XD, obviously not realising they'd been generously gifted a stop/go. So i realised I couldn't take the chance & slammed on the anchors. Skidded into the wall opposite pit entry :'(, waited for a couple of cars to pass & entered the pits again. Managed to turn off all my tyre changing instructions etc, but guess what, I didn't have a 2nd stop/go & I'd just wasted my time pitting Angry Angry Angry

I left the pits, 22 secs behind the next driver. That driver was Clive who had been 3 secs a lap quicker than me in practice & qually & the next driver was about 10 secs further up the road from him & I'm a few corners away from being lapped by the race leader.

So I quit out on what had been a dreadful evening at what is such a good track.

p.s. I checked the replay & unfortunately (on mine at least), it didn't show the start lights changing. Is that the same for all?

Rookie night.

Jumped the start and then got s/g
Forgot to turn off the engine and waited for 20 seconds wondering why nothing happened.. Tongue
Fortunately had some good fights with the Man from Eifel

... and  I got a 'I survived Zandvoort in a Mustang and all I got is this lousy t-shirt' t-shirt.

Congrats Geoffers with the win.

No comprende. was sure I'd seen lights go green,so went, as did most, got black flag also, went into pit
and sat there tyring to figure why it was saying no/2 or 3/yes against stop and go. so canceled tyres etc
hit return and took a 33 sec stop. ah well, had some fun chasing Alex, then trying to catch Fulvio while keeping
Clive at bay, shame it made it into two races on the same track at the same time. Those who got blacked
and those who didn't.

Quick heads up from someone who didn't get a black flag for jumping the start...

The lights here went off-red-green instead of red-green, and I saw a lot of people moving as soon as the red lights went on. Could have been lag but I'd hazard a guess at that being the reason for so many "jumping the start".

I had to do two because the place was jammed full on my first attempt and someone else was being tended to by my pit crew.

I tried to look at the replay for the lights as well but like yours it doesn't show them changing.

A miserable night but thankfully the other Soggies did better.  WD John for climbing almost back to your start position and grats to Stig for staying on the tarmac in our hour of need.

One positive thing, I didn't hit Matt's shed.  No matter how hard he tried to tempt me.  angel

Well that was lucky  Grin. I sat there waiting for the start lights & suddenly everyone sets off........... I was watching the pit exit light.

Next thing I know everyone (nearly) is heading for the pits.

Then Ade suddenly dissappears & I'm in the lead.

Drive fast but not riskily for another 18 laps........ win the race.

Well that was lucky  Grin

Seriously, bad luck to all those who got penalised, probably wrongly by the seems of things. If I had been watching the correct lights I would have too I guess.

Congrats to John & Mike, a few more laps & I would have been 3rd.

front right was in the red, and It was a handfull to not do something unexpected. Top marks that man.  Grin

Well that didn't go exactly as planned. The track/car combo worked very, very well, but the super pole quali procedure and the start lights made for a somewhat dissapointing night. In the end, I got exactly the race I was expecting with John once we both got through our stop/go penalties.

In order to do the super pole, it seems like we have to use Practice 1 for practice, Practice 2 for quali and then Quali 2 for super pole. I know some of you don't like it, but for those who are in the top 6, the added pressure of performing in 1 lap does mix things up and should be an opportunity for all to learn from the driver on the hot lap. After looking at the quali times for each driver in super pole, geoffers would have switched places with Ade at the start. It should work. I just need to refine it.

As far as the stop/go penalties, the start light sequence caught us out. I usually do practice races in preperation, but knew I did a race here earlier this year and I didn't remember the funny start sequence.

Congrats to Geoffers for good pace and holding it together. John made a gutsy pass and defended smartly after my only mistake. Great race for me.

Massive appologies to Miguel for the bump - totally my fault but I didn't expect you to slow there in my defence  ninja
Felt it best to wait for you as the track was empty, rather than simply scarper!

Otherwise I was on form for a good run, dropped the hammer almost exactly as John did and got a run up his outside into Tarzan. Nearly turned in on Mike when I spotted John pull behind me but a quick glace right at the last minute saved me  sweatdrop
It looked like I had enough pace to hold the lead had the pits not bekoned...
After my SnG I came out immediatly behind Miguel who was just behind John. After my unfortunate meeting with Miguel's rear end, and the time I lost waiting for him to rejoin, my race was suddenly looking much worse  Sad
Decided to carry on and press hard to save what I could (Had to as I was leading the championship into this race so needed the points) and after passing most of the field - some great battles on the way! - finished 4th still slowly pulling mike and John back to the tune of maybe .4 seconds a lap average over the time they were visible on my pitboard  Smiley
(I suspect they were either on soft tyres or slowing each other later in the race, as both posted faster race laps than me)

Despite that I really enjoyed the race, the Falcon was a hoot to drive here and my newly modified 'long throw' 'floor' shifter for the G25 only added to the realism/fun  Grin
Looking forward to the next race - I'm going to practice my starts against the AI for that one I think!  Hit with a wet fish

Grats Geoffers! Great fun, that. Close action from start to finish.

Got swamped by Falcons off the line, no idea what happened with the lights - I definitely went on green, might be an idea to start watching the counter instead.

Bit of a ropey first lap, was put off a bit by the stop/go warning so didn't push too hard as I assumed that any chance of a good result was long gone. Then the realisation dawned that half the field was in the same boat as all the "pit in" messages started appearing. Managed to leapfrog FMG in the pits somehow and came out halfway down the field.

A lap or two later and Mike exited the pits from his S/G just as I was coming to the end of the straight. I didn't quite have the pace to attempt a pass and was a bit frustrated at the time that had I done a better outlap I might have got in front. In hindsight though I think it made for a much better race for the both of us Grin

The rest of my race was spent trying in vain to find a way past Mike in the twisty stuff and desperately clinging to his bumper down the straight - that big Falcon creates one hell of a hole in the air as I wasn't that far behind each time by T1.

Just when I thought a mistake was never going to happen he gave me a single chance and I took it. Had just enough of a gap to be able to defend at the end of the straight and then capitalised where the Alfa was best. Good racing Mike, I got a bit too close for comfort a couple of times under braking but I don't think there was any contact. Good car choice and good track thumbup1

I'm sorry to have joined late for qualy, but I had problems to download the right track.
I was lucky to be last on the grid so I waited for all to start and avoided the false start. Indeed I was very confused when I saw a lot of cars pitting at the end of first lap, and I thought that there was a mandatory pit that I hadn't noticed in the rules. In doubt I carried on  Smiley
During the race I had some wide here and there, but nothing serious to damage my GTA.
Toward the end of the race I had Matt and Clive roaring behind  Shocked, but managed to bring it home safely  Grin
Ciao

Well as long as the quickest 1/3 of the grid get to enjoy mixing it up for an extra 15 mins each time, while everyone else has to wait, it must be worth pursuing.
Lol.
