bah the racing demons fubar'd my race.

Went to join only to find its a different version of mugello to what we used last time  Huh  Roll Eyes  then TS knocked out all my pc sounds and had to restart twice including power off. MIssed all the practise and joined during qually. Bodged two runs then finally did a 1:50.7? (was doing 1:49's in my practise yesterday).
Also found the grip levels appeared totally different to my practise and had bung on an extra notch of rear wing just to stop it oversteer spinning in all corners.

Not the greatest prep for a race  Lips Sealed

Race start was okayish but let H@L through to easy when i lost sight of him in my blindspot and Ade closed up. that meant next lap Ade was drafting me and we both outbraked outself into T1 and lost about 9 seconds  Sad
Then chased SRW's fezza for about half hour and that was my only fun of the race.
Pitted much later than all as was running med/hard tyres and when i saw i had 45secs above about 5 cars thought i could splash and dash with no new boots and get out in front of a few but they all steamed past anyway.  Huh
rejoined in 7th about 9 secs down on H@L who threw it off with about 10mins to go, so gained a place, then SBG unfortunately disapeared and i gained another to finish 5th.

annoying that track felt so different as could do constant mid 1:50's with full fuel in my 2 hours of practise yesterday! but here the car felt a bit nervous and o/steering even with 2-7 wing. Am stumped!  Huh

lol

Was pleased to keep Ginsters on his toes in qually, thought I might still be able to sneak 2nd, but just couldn't pull it off. Very happy with 3rd though Cool

Thoroughly enjoyed the 1st 15 mins, watching Ginsters holding up Jon having stolen 1st place at the 1st corner with his extra power. A real good display, till I think Ginsters out braked himself in the final bend & Jon was litterally set free.

From 20-30mins, my Panoz medium tyres were shot & I was struggling to make most turns & found that with three off track excursions, I was dropped from 3rd to 7th/8th Sad.

After my pitstop, I was happy again & enjoyed some fun with H@L & then Ginsters briefly (unlucky BTW). Tyres lasted much better were less screwed in the 2nd half, carrying a lot less fuel. Smiley

Anyway, enjoyed that & well done to podiums.

p.s. Decided to have a late change of car, having run the F430 one million plus times Grin, I decided to have a go with something less popular & that I don't recall having tried in a league race before. It was definitely quicker for me over a lap, but the tyre wear/performance, was quite amusing! laugh

I was extremely surprised by the 2s gap in Qually and can only think that the Gallardo was far more suited to this track then the other cars.

Race went well. SBG destroyed me down the pit straight at the start of the race which set up a nice little battle that lasted 4 or 5 laps. I think I would've struggled to overtake him all race long but fortunately SBG slid off at the last corner, that left me free to get the hammer down and pull out a nice gap to 2nd before the pitstops.

I decided to change my tyres at the pitstop and it worked out well still leaving me in the lead after everyone had pitted. It was more or less a bit of a cruise to the finish after that. The Gallardo really handled great here even when the tyres started to wear a bit it remained a nicely balanced car Smiley

Nice race all, grats to all finishers.
Cya next time

Qualified 5th with a time 1 sec off my pb. Race was a bit dull as every and I mean every car left me for dead on a straight. Cheesy Went a bit better after tyres of other cars were starting to get worn. I was still able to lap consistently, if a bit slower. Took in just the right amount of fuel for a change and settled for what was to be 4th place. Then sbg was behind, slowly catching. Was gonna be interesting, though I think I'd have enough time to keep him behind. Disco prevented this, sorry to say. Sad

I must say I expected more of this race. Not results wise, as I expected to be further down the line considering quali roster. Hoped for more drivers and for more close racing. I expect less of it in Valencia still and no more than here in Brands. Twistier tracks for next GT2 Championship, please. Wink

All in all, always a pleasure to drive the GT2 class. Cool

Well that was unexpected.

Bit tight in qually having done my second decent lap i was only a few thousands behind TT so had to go again and just managed to get behind Legzy. Just tried to keep it steady early on in the race, having not run with full fuel uptil then. Was enjoying following Legzy until he decided to brake as late as me Grin From then on it became a bit lonely running around on my own!

Thought i'd try and tweak the setup a bit to try and reduce the rear tyre wear and even it out front and back in practise before hand which seemed to improve things no end. So much so that come the pitstop and not really know where everyone else was i thought i'd not change tyres as they seemed to still be wroked pretty well after 35mins. However such a short stop threw me a bit and fumbled a bit starting the engine!  Came out as Jon was passing the pits which surprised me being only 6 sec or so but his pace was a bit depessing, though i was taking it easy doing 52's on worn tyres. Started worrying a bit as MJ did his usuall late stop but i shouldnt have worried as he had his usual pit stop pace as well!
