My take is that you go when the guy in front turns off his light, simple as that. If (like I was) the chap in front is preocupied with checking XD and dawdles you have to wait till the plonker gets his anus in gear, however frustrating that might be I would be happy to adopt the "whichever comes first" rule, if that was in the regs. I don't blame MJ for being impatient, but flash your lights or shout or something Not sure how much difference 3 secs makes to your finishing position over an hour long race but it's always good to be able to challenge in the 1st couple of laps, which you can't if some people are slow to turn off the limiter.

No way it should work like that, if you fluff your start (and a lot of us have at some point with xd, limiter button etc) then your fair game to be overtaken i would say. Its the equivalent of missing a gear, stalling or making a dodgy change-up in the real world and deserves to be punished! You cant expect the drivers behind to be punished by your own error. I always take it as i can go as soon as the guy in front speeds off or i cross the line, whichever is sooner, otherwise your instantly a few hundred metres down the road from the cars ahead...as happened here. The biggest danger when someone doesnt release their limiter is that you can rear end them when you hit your own gas pedal! All good fun

I'm with MJ. Release limiter when the guy in front is, if you sleep on it, the guy behind overtakes.

Didn't it used to be as soon as the leader turns pit limiter off everyone can go?....Then it got abused by team mates of the pole man on teamspeak so was changed to when the car in front goes. To me anything after the start line is fair game though.

I always release my pit limit when I cross the start finish line, what ever happens.

Personally I agree that it "should" be when the guy in front goes OR you cross the start line but it isn't like that in the regs, which Is what I have been following for the past few years
"•The leader shall not disengage their limiter until they cross the start line. Each following driver should only disengage their limiter when the driver directly ahead does. If a driver is unable to disengage their limiter, they should pull over so that the following drivers can begin the race."
I have this bizarre concept that I should play by the rules, not what I think they should be. Lobby Dave or whoever runs the league to have them changed by all means, but gentlemen's agreements are no use as newcomers will read the rules and assume that we are abiding by them

Do you think that clarifies it a little better?

Sure, if the regs were changed to say that, then there could be no confusion.

With a rolling start you are supposed to have a green flag for everyone at the same time but, we cant do that so the way that we do it is the next best thing. The reason it is 'wait for the car in front' is to avoid racing incidents at the start (possibly just like the one that started the discussion) and also if we say 'or when passed the S/F line' then the first few cars behind the leader have an advantage and the cars at the back and the car on pole have a disadvantage. Also there can some times be a little confusion as to exactly which line is the S/F line on some tracks. That is my opinion anyway and it is the reason why I thought the rules are like they are already.

You misunderstand mate, we're not saying we think everyone can go as the leader crosses the line We're saying that you should be able to release your own limiter when you cross the line, even if the pilchard in front of you is still faffing about looking for their release button. If that same pilchard hasn't found out where the start line is, that's their problem & deserve to lose the position. Should encourage people to check.

Well thats strange, i swear i've seen it in the rules but maybe they have been rewritten a bit around iR, about going once past the start/finish line.
