Results and Replay Posted somewhere in the Sand

Comedy of errors for me,  went on the dust in T1 trying to give Mr Rat room ,and not slow down, didn't happen
then went sideways avoiding Clive, which let Ade through, then overcooked it trying to keep up
Was doing ok and catching, went over the brow into T1 following Tony, who lost it and came shooting accross the
grass towards my side, took evasive action, bounced off the fence and took an age to regain the track
fell off a bit pushing hard, but only lost the odd second, caught and passed FMG, caught Ade then went wide
in the valley of the lefts too busy watching where he was going rather than me.... took Mike's short cut
and received a stop and go, which allowed FMG to get his place back. Would like to say it was fun fighting
back up the field, but was 90% on my own. ah well, Grats to Miguel and Geoffers and Mike fo hustling the Stang
round at a good pace.

Unofficial LapChart

First halve was ok-ish, second halve the mind started to wander off and made stupid mistakes.

Jag was a rollercoaster ride, S-pecially the Valley of the Left Esses.

Congrats to podium, now I am going to take pills for car sickness.

An old photo of my real race car at Bridgehampton...

This is what the car looks like now...

I really want (but can't afford to run) an FC  Sad
Have to put up with a tweeked 180SX instead..... ( Grin )

Race wasn't the greatest for me, started out in the Jag which was dead slow, so changed to the Vette as no-one was driving one with about 15 mins to go. This improved my qualifying times by about .3 of a sec despite only having 10 mins to set the car up so decided to stick with it....

Think it was the wrong decision as the tyres went off on about lap 17 dropping my times hugely - I think the Jag would have been better as my race setup had hard compound on the rears so shouldn't have worn out  Sad

Ah well, the tank was good exercise at least - my arms are killing now  Grin

That was fun.  Grin

Was surprised to get pole, nearly 2s faster than I had managed in testing. Predictably Mike's Mustang blitzed the Elans at the start but I held on to second place for half a lap until I ran a bit wide at the Valley of the Lefts & let Miguel & Phil through. Took 2 or 3 laps to find a way past Phil & then caught up with Mike. Then had a fantastic battle with the Mustang, all over it through the twisty bits only for Mike to blast away on the straight. Roll Eyes Eventually saw an opportunity at the Light Bulb turn but only succeeded in pushing Mike off track  Embarrassed

Waited for Mike to rejoin which let Phil past both of us. Battle resumed & the Elan was starting to get the upper hand as the Mustang seemed to be having more trouble getting around the turns. Got past a couple of times only to be repassed on the straight. Finally made the pass stick when Mike took to the sand exiting T2.

Started to reel in Phil but he went off between T1 & T2 before I could mount an attack. Miguel was too far ahead to think about catching up so just reeled off the remaining laps & came home 2nd despite a small 'off' at the final turn with a few laps left.

Congrats to Miguel & thanks to Mike for a good race, great handling of the tank!  thumbup2

Geoffers described our race together perfectly. As time wore on, the Mustang's tires got worse and worse. Geoffers made a brilliant outside pass in the light bulb to finally get by. Phil (or was it Clive) took over as the persuer. All the hair dressers looked alike with the exception of Geoffers. He was the only one with green hair.

Who was up on the cliff drivers left in the valley of the lefts? How did you get up there?

I'm happy to say I got all the runs through my shortcut out of the system in practice. Sorry to hear Matt took a run through there. At least you scored fast race lap!

Congrats to Miguel and Geoffer for quick pace and smart drives that led them to the top spots.

Wuz me.

I'm really not at home with these little cars.  I just can't drive them fast enough so 4th is a good result for me.

As Matt said, I got in his way early on and he did himself a mischief trying to avoid me.  Many thanks.

The circuit was interesting and thankfully I was mainly left on my own.  In the closing stages I did catch Mike when his tyres were shot but I didn't have enough laps to work out how to get past.  He had certainly been made aware of his vulnerability at the spoon but there was nowt wrong with the way he went down the straight.

Congratulations to Miguel, Geoffers and Mike.

THERE WILL NOW FOLLOW A TWO WEEK FORUM SILENCE IN HONOUR OF PAST SEASONS!

i had a decent event upto getting a stop and go penalty  Sad

Qualied 8th behind Ades stang and a field of elans  Roll Eyes Moved up a couple of places as guys ahead had off's but then on about lap 6 or so in the valley of lefts my bouncing e-type decided to go right , steamed over the sand dunes and plopped back down on the circuit in front of the leaders  Shocked...thankfully without collecting anyone  sweatdrop but got the s&G for cutting track taz
Stopped very next lap for my pen and it dropped me from 6th to a lap down on the whole field  :'(  Gamely drove on and retook a couple of guys over the race length and even clawed my way back into the top 10.
Had  one other scary moment late on when about to be lapped by Mike and Phil?, car got out of shape braking for T3 and went up the sand on the right, crossed the track onto the sand on the left  Tongue again thankfully without collecting either of them. Phew.

finished a desultory 9th. Nice to see a mix of 4 different car types available, not so keen when only a couple, but still think if going to allow a race winner like the elan or vette then they should be curbed in car year availability just to keep the action close. There was a 10sec gap between 1st and last in qually...daft. Lips Sealed

That would have been me , Mike, but it wasn't an easy ride up.
Crashed my car in the dunes and that caused my car to do a few flips in the air.
Landed on 4 wheels at the end and had a marvelous view across the circuit  Grin

I was very attempted to just stay there and watched the race from this angle but decided that some folks might be distracted if I stayed there so drove off again.
