Sorry about keeping you all waiting at the start. Never done a GTR2 start before, how do you get on the grid? I was sat in the car in the garage & couldn't figure out what to do to join the grid.  I presumed it would be like P&G & GTL where you click the start button to join the grid. But no start button! Is this correct?  Huh

I think I hit the organizer's Benetton at the start Embarrassed

As a punishment I had to go change my nosecone and joined 1 lap down.

Was soon overtaken by rest of field but sheer speed of these cars kept me busy.

Nice race and apologies to SeniorDan for communication error. Thought I left you enough room to lap.

That was very enjoyable. Decided to stay out and see if the tyres would hold out, they did, though I was 2 secs a lap off
my earlier pace. Race ended on laps not time, so TT and maybe Laz were thwarted of catching and passing after their
stops. Superb demo of the difference between high and low wing setups, HAL caught me after an off, caught very fast
down the straight and got up the inside into T1, only for me to zoom round the outside and them him have to lift
ALso did a pass round the outside at the top of the hill after the start, as it seemed bunched up, so I drove round the
outside.  Grin
Tyres were completetly gone to nothing in XD. Great mod this, well worth the joining fee.
Oh yes. was loving the view, the grid looked like my Scalextric F1 collection of Benneton, Ferri Williams et al  Smiley

that was an exciting race, was very hard to keep concentrating in the second half of the race!

i messed up the start (thinking it was a usual parade lap in single file)(sorry to whoever was behind me and crashed in to me)

Thanks to goldtop for his setup, i didnt have much time to practice or work ona setup so i just used his setup and spent my track time just getting in as many laps as pos to familiarise myself with the car

P&G & GTL where you click the start button to join the grid. But no start button! Is this correct?  Huh

It is and something was up there. Bugger :'(

I guess the Ligier is way off the pace Blunder. The Ferrari would have been better for you and I'm sure Tudor can tweak drivers/drives accordingly after tonight. The same goes for Spanner who was in, for me, the wild Arrows. The others are much more consistent and easier drives (respect to TT for making it work).

Grip appeared very low in quali but delighted I nabbed pole. Got completely gazumped for first few laps as I struggled to adjust to racing at that pace. Was way off the pace of Lazlow and TT and just dreaded the moment Ade caught me. It was clear the Lotus had the grunt so I just parked it in the corners and hoped for the best. Think Ade was just about to figure out a place to pass when my slowness caught him out. Congrats to him, TT and Lazlow (Legzy, surely not Huh ) for the race pace.

No sure if it was the hard/hard or 32/28 wing choice, that made me slow in race?

Really like the mod but gotta say its very hard to race these. Firstly they have no brake lights Smiley Secondly, I didn't have much spare capacity beyond keeping these cars on the road to formulate a passing strategy or anything else at the start of that race. Did manage to defend well towards the end so I'm guessing I was adjusting. Should be more comfortable after a few races.

Thanks to Tudor for trying that out and thx for turning up. I want some more Smiley

Very very much enjoyed that sweatdrop

Started about 11th on grid & somewhat got caught out by the lights when Geoffers didn't join (just click the start button mate, bottom right corner, but not if you're on setups screen). Had some really good interesting exchanges as I made my way through the field. I think this F1'88 is slightly more about the intense driving experience & unimaginable pressure of driving close to others Shocked Grin. I had particularly good extended periods of this tonight with H@L & Goldtop, great driving both chaps Cool.

Shame Matt's car had past its best by the time I caught him, missed out on a scrap there & was able to just sail past when he went wide before the fight got started.

Obviously tonight's race finished about 7mins early (luckily for SBG Kiss), but even if we'd done the full 40mins, pitting was not the best option tonight. I wonder if a slight tweak of the race length would be an idea for a series. Either to a shorter distance where nobody needs to pit (about 30mins Undecided) or a bit longer so everyone would need to pit (about 45-50mins Undecided)?

Either way, for me, the format of tonight's race is a winner in my eyes. You could also see on the grid, who had put in practise, they were all within 1-2secs... just as it should be euro

Hopefully the guys who only dipped their toe in this, will see enough potential to give it a proper go for the next one (in your own time Tudor... Wink)

OK, that's what I thought. I think I must have pressed the start button, I don't actually remember, but I got put into the car in the pit garage. I guess something went wrong. Oh well, maybe another time.

Are these races always going to be on a Tuesday? If so it sometimes clashes with the GTL F1Venue series I'm doing with Wiltshire Tony.

Results and replays in the usual places

They'll be tweaked eventually, but for now if you would like to see who was in which car, refer to post #2

Nice event, nice cars. Cool

Looking forward to more.

My hard tyres were on 22-24 wear after 20mins and I could feel the grip going. I decided to pit and I was much faster on fresh rubber, not sure how much but, at least 1 second I think. That was combined with a lower fuel level of course.

Some people seemed to be able to make the tyres last longer so I am not sure what would be a suitable race length. Shorter rather than longer as the cars require a lot of energy use from the drivers. Grin

1. Whoever set this server tonight owes me a photo finish. no Was catching Matt and Lazlow was catching me and then the race ended, what, 10 min early? Sad
2. Tyres: I was losing 3 sec / lap after 20 min as I had 35 worn FL. So I pitted, go figure. I propose a race of 60 min for the next race. Why? The car(s) are terrible to drive after 10 min and then it gets harder. You drag your arse into pit after 20 min, tyres are (should be) on the limit of bursting. If the tyres will allow racing --nonononono, wrong word-- for 40 min then I'm not if I want to be a part this Championship. I have no intention to repeat the Race events of 10 min good racing, then just struggling with the tyres for the next 30 min. No way, sorry. Sad
If the purpose of the first few races are testing, then lets change parameters, not repeat them (Suzuka announcement seems the same as for Brno).

3. We might get into lap format to decide the race lenght - it's F1 form after all. This way there's no confusion of early ending. Smiley

4. Standing start's great. Cheesy
