Thanks for posting this H@L  Smiley

The F1 1988 Mod is the GTR2 conversion of Carrera4's masterpiece from rFactor. We have permission
from the conversion team to use it here (Please read the read me file included in the mod). We
also have permission to use the "Missing Teams" mod which completes the line up from the 1988
season, although this won't be included in this particular event. If there is enough interest here,
we plan to hold further events leading towards a season.

All these cars have different physics and performance characteristics which are based on RL. They
are a lot of fun to drive and have a great feel which puts them in that easy to drive/hard to master
category, which is where the fun starts!

The idea is for each driver to choose a car according to their pace to create as even a field as
possible. We don't want a grid full of Gerhard Bergers out there, so Please do some testing to choose
an appropriate car and reserve it here. One driver per car please.

I'd guess anywhere between 1:30 and 1:45 depending if you're in a Ferrari or a Zakspeed and how much practice you're able to put in. ATM I think we should be aiming for approx 1:35 as our target time with race fuel.

I'd grab one of the middle cars to get an idea and post up times.

Some more tips...

I would recommend using the auto clutch setting if you don't already. If you stall these cars after a spin etc, as in RL, there is no way to restart the engine.

I usually use virtual mirror, but in these cars the real mirrors are possibly a better option along with a button mapped for rear viewing.

With some of the cars the in garage fuel estimates are way out. XD is what you need.

The default wing settings are way too high....try them at around 20 F and R.

The default rear tyre pressures need increasing.

The rest is really down to personal taste/normal setup procedures.

Tis good for me Smiley I can still "feel" whats gonna happen even at these insane speeds which surprised me. Sounds are very good in the Williams at least.

35/36's in the Williams. Will do more pracci, very addictive.

My times from Brno have thrown up a few surprises. I originally tested these cars at Silverstone88 and Spa88 which is where my original guidelines were from (see post #2).

As you can see below, the nice handling Ligier has benefitted, while the fast but awkward Arrows has suffered. There does seem to be a good choice within a couple of seconds of each other though.

MCLAREN        95.080

LIGIER            96.505
MARCH            96.646
FERRARI         96.675

ARROWS        96.928
WILLIAMS      97.006

LOTUS           97.995

BENETTON     98.812

COLONI       100.672

MINARDI     101.259

ZAKSPEED  104.221

Keep those times coming  Smiley

Would be interested to hear from people running a G27 to know how they have the ffb set for these cars.

I run my G27 with very low ffb for these.....32% strength but I do have a heavily edited plr file. I can post it up or email it if you want to try it.
