Oops, sorry, yes please GT. I tried running it on tuesday but couldnt get it feeling right. I normally run around 80% in windows and about 90% in game on low but if i tried going around the corners above 50mph i'd get knocking from the wheel as though it was limiting the FFB or it was too strong. Tried lowering it but then its like running without FFB which doesnt feel right to me. Err nevermind about a car setup!

So what made you want to run this mod GT? Bit different to what we normally do here.

As you say mate, something a bit different. The mod has a lot of depth to it imo and I find it just gets better the more I drive it. As I said before, the fact that these cars have so much variation in their performance and drivability should make for some great racing if we each take the right car....and that's where the challenge lies. Oh and don't forget the history....... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8654608.stmhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8161298.stm

Lol well a less bumpy track would have ideal! There was me thinking we had a 'historic' version of the track with the title saying Brno 1987.

Hello,
Just strolled by from the historic section and found - by sheer change - this be-au-ti-ful mod from times F1 cars did not look like computer systems.
Now I am not the quickest in the 60-ies era cars so I definitely not the quickest in F1 cars. Is this race for the 'more experienced in car handling' or do you also like the Giovanni Lavaggi's of this world to compete?
(of course I will praccy and run the virtual mirror, but on some parts of the circuit the fillings rattle out of my teeth... )

Nice of you to drop by Alex I'm sure that you'll be able to find a car that you can enjoy and have some good racing with. As for those rattling teeth, the cars can indeed get bumpy at the front. Softening the springs all round will help, as will braking earlier and lighter to carry more speed into the corners....just trust that downforce

Looking now for a steady car to keep it on the tarmac. I've seen the Ligier is good, any other ones? Are you guys still aiming for a field with as much different cars as possible? If so, I'm willing to take any other car.. (well almost any car..) ps. If you want to attract more drivers you could consider putting something like 'F1 MOD 88' in the header. I almost missed this one.

Feel free to choose a car you're comfortable in Alex. The Ligier is very nice here as is the Ferrari or the March. The McLaren is very quick but slightly more demanding to drive imo. The only car in the top 8 that I found more difficult than others was the Arrows, but it too can be very quick with practice.
I reckon if we all aim for a car that will give us laptimes of around 1:37 (+or- 1 sec) we'll have some good racing, so whether that's a McLaren or a Zakspeed will depend on the driver and how much practice they are able to put in.

Had a few laps with H@L on the pracci server which he very kindly set up for us this evening.
H@L reported that there were no conflicts between mods on his server. We held short pracci, quali and race sessions which all went without any troubles. We both pitted taking fuel and tyres, again with no dramas and all sessions finished/progressed as they should.
One of the things which concerned me about this mod was the damage levels. While racing offline with the AI the front and rear wings seemed to pop off a little too easily. We tested these damage levels with some gentle contact and concluded that they were indeed a little too sensitive. I therefore plan to decrease the damage level slightly for this test race and would welcome any feedback.
I also noted that I was unable to produce the laptimes online that I'd been able to do offline (even in quali). I'm not sure why this is, but perhaps we ought to raise our target time to around 1:39???
We need to start posting up times so that we can all narrow down and decide our car choices. I don't want any duplication of drivers (obviously there are 2 cars available for each team), so get those cars reserved asap. I'll update post #2 as we go.

Are the cars that different? Took Ferrari 'cause it's been my team all the years. It's a psychological thing, I know, but driving March or Arrows or other cars to get slower laptimes seems unappealing to me. Do we plan on doing some fun races to balance the cars or what? P.S. Driving Ferrari is fun. Have to try other cars, really.

Driving Ferrari is fun. Have to try other cars, really. The cars are very different. Ferrari is all round probably the second best car on the grid behind the McLaren. The March is quite a similar feeling car, but lacks the outright grunt of the turbo'd fezza. My main concern is that we end up with a grid full of Ferraris or McLarens because it won't do the mod justice. It's a bit like just having the Gulf GT40s in PnG. We all need to find our level and that depends on who turns up for these races. The fun races will enable us to find out where we all are and make the series (if there is one) much more fun. I'll put you down as a Ferrari and post your time next to it. Are you Gerhard or Michele?
