I was doing fine until the tyres went off (same story at Brno) they seem to go off much more suddenly than I am used to
understeered off into a fence and removed the front wing, and bent the suspension, pitted for repairs and new tyres
came out right in Navin's way on cold tyres, and lost it into the same fence trying to keep out of his way, crawled round
for a 2nd stop for repairs again, came out and flew round but was too far back from HAL to do much, thjough he seemed to also
have pitted.
GOod fun these things, all the same
Not sure about the pit stop CTD thiny. I ctd'd when someone joined a couple of days ago. People get booted as cheat
even more than in P&G. I CTD when stopping in pits once, and once when someone joined tonight.
I noticed that my graphics fan was not whining in it's usual style, WIndows had helpfull yupdated the driver and had
missed off the manual fan control, so I reinstalled older drivers, set fan at 70%, and had no trouble after that, though
I may have had no trouble anyway, no idea.

Gotta say the mod is very good after more use.
Car handling and sounds are good, the mod....not quite so.

PC decided to jump to desktop, and when I came back to the game my car was (lets say) a little bashed up Cheesy
Span my way back to the pits to get repaired, and after 2 mins of waiting I went to start the engine and it didn't fire up. Had to then exit the game.

I decided to test the Minardi offline to see if I had the same engine start problems, and surely enough I did.
I then tested the Williams I drove last week for comparison, and had no problems starting the engine.

Just another issue that seems to crop up every time I play this mod.
Is this mod fairly new? because at the moment I feel like I'm beta testing instead of actually racing Sad

Also I believe Matt Rowe and Navin were having ctd when they entered the pits??

It's hard to tell how much of this is down to the mod/server/add on track/PCs/GTR2. This is why we are testing and I promise you, I have put in a lot of testing and research so far and haven't come up against major issues. Hopefully we will learn what is or isn't possible and what works and what doesn't work from these events. The standard track Brno did seem less problematic though Undecided

As far as the quality of mod is concerned, it is officially a 0.9. There has been a lot of controversy over ownership etc. and because of this it was never properly finished. I don't want to appear flippant about this, but RL F1 is probably a 0.6 or 0.7 at best. I can accept it as being part of the "anything can happen and it usually does" experience and live with the frustrations that brings.

Rolling starts? That's a variable that we can at least control and would save people's races being ruined before they begin. It does take away some of that raw excitement though. Let's try it next time and see how we all feel....I don't believe there are any pit limiter lights on the back of these cars though, so it would mean a slight change to our usual proceedings.

My race report to follow....

Yes I did notice after Matt was getting CTD while entering his pit stall that I was getting a similar CTD. Only in my case it did it right at the pitlane light which is exactly what happened at Brno for me.. In my case I think it could be that this is a very old install of GTR2 and has tons of add-ons which I think has made it a bit unstable. I'll do a fresh install of GTR2 and this mod only for next round and see if that clears up my problems Smiley.
As far as the race I had a decent start but Ade quickly pulled away a bit but then at the end of lap one he went a bit deep entering the last corner/chicane which allowed me to close right up. Got a good run on him going down the front straight and noticed his car topped out much earlier then mine so he must have been running a bit more downforce then me so I slipstreamed by him. Then Ade was on me like glue going through the s's but I was just able to hold him off till I got back to a couple of long straights and was able to get a small gap from him with my cars better top speed. After that I just tried to be consistent and push just enough to keep a decent gap and not abuse my tires. I have to thank GT for his setup as the car had great feel throughout the run.
Big grats to Tom and GT for there solid podiums finishes Smiley. Look forward to the next race with these Grin. Will have to try a different car for the next round.

Decided not to pit this time and see where it leads me. Well, tyres got up to 50 worn on the fronts and 40+ on the rear. I was losing 4 to 5 sec per lap in the end, compared to my best times. That means pitting in 25 laps race @ Suzuka would be better than not pitting. Considering I had three offs as I tried to drive on the edge with worn tyres confirms it as well.

Went with 37/38 wing this time. Ade must have had higher wing as I could get closer on a straight and he got away through corners. How were your tyres Ade, how much did they get worn?
Stayed with Ade and GT close on my tail. While my tyres were good I could stay close to Ade and edge away from GT. Then I made a mistake and lost a few places and had to repeat the process.
After Ade quit and my tyres were starting to go GT crept closer and closer and got past. Tried to stay close but made more small mistakes and was losing time. Fortunately GT wasn't immune to the same. I had a feeling between 10 and 5 laps to go that I could get closer a bit but at that time my front grip was so low that I had to lift off on the long uphill left-hander and was losing a lot of time there. Then in the last few laps I was just trying to keep the car on track. All in all might be just that we were differing on driving style where I was quicker on some parts and GT on others. My only advantage was in the first seconds of acceleration, then Benetton just drove away. Bad luck with accident on the last lap, GT. Undecided

All in all Arrows seems competitive inside mortal drivers class, but the tyres have to be changed. If Benetton doesn't have to change tryes then Arrows is out of league. At least with me behind the wheel. Roll Eyes Ade got some crazy speed out of it, my limit in quali spec was high 36s.

Hope in the next race I can use planned pitstop strategy and then we can fully measure and compare. Smiley

I don't mind standing starts but I'm not against our standard procedure if it means safer starts. Killing 10+ % of cars at start is not an option for me. Or you could practice standing starts, sbg. Wink

I only got my silly quali time by lowering my wing a bit, running with the rad at 1 and turning the rev limit all the way up so i needed one slow out lap and a fast one , by the end of the lap my engine was smoking like a good un.

Not really my cup of tea these things (just cant see how you can race them up close Huh ) not a lover of downforce but the only way i can drive them is with high wing.
Same as last week with SBG my speed through the bends was a lot faster than TT after he got past so i had to hit the brakes and lost all momentum and he was off into the distance Sad

Any one for 2CV racing Grin cheers Ade

I am very much enjoying the mod. Smiley

The cars felt great on the Suzuka track. They require more practise but, I love the high speed pace. I definitely aim to put more effort into practising with the cars.
