Moderator's Report

A debut for Monaco in the Novices, and a debut for several new UKGPL drivers.

The peace and quiet of Monaco lasted little more than a minute when the first slow corners heralded the first of several pile ups on this tight street circuit.

During this race there were a lot of warp related incidents as the server settings were not correct. There was also a re-occurence of the red tyres on Billy's car that we saw last season at Kyalami.

Because of this, there were a lot of reported incidents for near misses, small touches and odd car behaviour.

Where I have not mentioned a reported incident it has been put down to warp and will not be penalised. Where there is an incident where cars do touch, but may not have done had the server settings been correct, it has also been put down to warp and will not be penalised.

The server settings have now been changed and future races should be a lot more stable.

Only time will tell if the moderators will allow the Novices loose on such a tight circuit again.

Server replay time: 0h01m01s

Billy is dropped by the server and re-appears taking out Economia

Warp Incident

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m34s

Billy is warping badly and makes contact with Fabio at Mirabeau but it is warp affected and he had slowed down to avoid him.

Warp Incident

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m38s

Fabio tries to pass NHance on the inside of Virage De La Gare where there is no gap and the two make contact throwing NHance into the bales.

This follows the mayhem of a few seconds earlier and it is not clear whether it is an overtake attempt or not. Either way, Fabio is at fault and hits Norm, but I have mitigated the extra place penalty for a lap 1 incident in view of the confusion, mayhem and server mishaps.

Server replay time: 0h03m36s

NHance follows Billy through Virage De La Gare and taps him.
Both continue unaffected.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h03m40s

Karliss spins at tabac and is blocking the track.
He cannot see what is coming as he tries to get going again.
He should have moved forwards and to the right, away from the racing line, even taking a couple of short reverses if necessary.
Instead he moves forward and to the left which puts him on the racing line and heading towards oncoming traffic that cannot see him around a blind bend.
Jonny O slows to avoid him but cannot and is in turn hit by Blito.

Server replay time: 0h06m30s

Nigel nearly stops in time to avoid Fabio at Mirabeau, Fabio then rear ends Nigel at Virage De La Gare.

Fabio seems to lose control but makes no discernible contact.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h07m04s

Nigel Smith spins at the chicane.
Economia is following him and slows then takes avoiding action which sends him out of control and into Fabios path.
Nigel recovers and drives away but Fabio is out of control and ends up in front of him giving him nowhere to go.
Fabio can see the incident developing ahead of him as he exits the chicane but there are no yellow flags and he keeps accelerating until it is too late.
If Economia had not lost control Fabio may have got through cleanly but he should have taken more care approaching the incident.

Server replay time: 0h10m46s

Blito rear ends AlBaldwin under braking for Massenet. He had followed him for several laps leading up to the incident.
Al brakes marginally earlier than on the previous laps but only by a few feet.
Blito brakes later than on the previous laps and hits him.

Server replay time: 0h10m58s

BadBlood loses control at Gazometres and is warping badly as Economia tries to pass slowly but makes warp contact.

Warp Incident

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h14m35s

Martin is approaching Gazometres and sees no yellow flags to tell him that Fabio is blocking the track.
He tries to avoid him but has nowhere to go.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h17m27s

Jonny O is lapping BadBlood at Virage De La Gare and BadBlood spins.
The server shows no contact and the Honda's reaction suggests warp.

Warp Incident

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h18m05s

BadBlood had a novel way of letting Blito lap him.

I don't think it will catch on.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h20m28s

Norm loses control into Gazometres and is being hotly pursued by Karliss who also slides out of control. The 2 come to rest near the barrier and Karliss is able to continue but Norm also moves away and just touches him.

Both continue unaffected.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h36m11s

Billy is being followed into Gazometres by Karliss who is much later on the brakes, but Billy has won the corner easily.

Billy seems to take a wide line and Karliss tries to take advantage but there is not enough room and he has no overlap.

Karliss should have conceded the corner but touches Billy and spins him.

Server replay time: 0h38m28s

RogUK taps Billy going into Mirabeau and waits for him.
This causes some congestion and confusion in a tight part of the track and causes RogUK to collide with BadBlood at Virage De La Gare.

RogUK should have continued rather than wait on track for some people to pass but not others.

I've cleared off Jason's amazing 0.083 second lap (sorry mate Wink) - I can't stop him getting the highlight for fastest lap though, unless Phil knows a way. You'll have to live with that glory as I don't want to keep pestering Giz (he's been pestered rather a lot lately).
Can do the same to clear your record time Francesco but have you any idea of what your qually time actually was? If not we can put in something nominal.

A good race from myself, and my best result since season 16.

I'm not getting too carried away as I was just lucky regarding the accidents rather than out right pace from me. I did do a PB in qualifying, so I was quite happy with my grid slot. I expected to have a midfield battle during the race, and was going to concentrate on getting it home in one piece.

I can across the lap 3 accident and managed to thread my way through it more or less without incident. I found myself in a high position, and went about keeping to my plan of staying out of the barriers. Very quickly Jason came up behind me and started to apply pressure, from my point of view he was warping all over the place. I started to concentrate on my lines to defend my position, I made one or two small errors were I would run a little bit wide but not enough for Jason to make a move. Eventually Jason’s warp got a bit worse and we made contact. I’m sure it was a warp contact and I will log it with the mods.

I was lucky (again) that I didn’t need to shift & r and got back on with my race, I lost a place to Jonny O. After a little while Jason was back on my tail, this time there were 2 of him (according to Prib). My pace had picked up a little so he wasn’t all over me, but was still closing in. A weird thing happened at some point because I got shown Blue flags all over the lap. I very nearly pulled over and let Jason through because of the Blue flag, but I realised it was a bug and kept to my lines. It was a bit off putting.

I think Jason got disco’d as he was no longer in my mirrors. I only had about 10 laps to go so settled in to bring it to the finish. I noticed that my fuel was getting a bit low, and when my fuel pressure started to drop with 5 laps to go I started to coast. I was glad to get the flag without any fuel pickup problems.

Overall, a new PB for me. A good finish for me and no mistakes from me. Overall I’m happy with my race. Looking forward to Watkins, where I’ve never been fast but I still enjoy the track.

Congratulations to podium and to Cookie for his first 65 win.

I love the look & feel of this classic circuit – just a shame I’m not very good at it.

First a word of welcome to the new entrants to the Novices Trophy, Economia & Jonny O. I notice Jonny is with Team Coyote but his race pace was more like Road Runner.

Qualifying was a good as could be expected but on taking my place on the start grid the rest of the field disappeared. I considered retirement but though I’d take a slow run on lap one & see what happened. The other cars began to reappear going up the hill and were solid enough when I ran into the back of the big lap one accident. (really should have got on the brakes earlier but don’t think I caused any more harm than had already been done). Had a bit of a tangle with Norm in the hairpin owing to a big dose of warp.

Also noticed that the server had dropped me so the blue flags were out every time a car got close. The connection seemed stable enough to drive & I worked out that  all the time Cookie (race leader) was behind me anyone else was on the same lap & OK to race. I hope my connection didn’t cause anyone major problems & it seems that I wasn’t the only one plagued by warp.

Go here and look under how to/other stuff/your country

I'm not sure we can reflect it in the lm2 import but there's probably something we can do.

PS: now fixed Fran's time, but again can't stop he highlight thing.

After having realized that spectacular time i have given up to other lap ,anyhow i was first. Now i have this time registered in my PC like best practice time but my best time at Monaco in a race is 1,3166 and if i remember also in practice was not far from this time.
The record must be deleted but for the race i have given position,at the start ,to 4 or 5 cars.Is OK for the confermation of my second place?
