Moderator's Report

The Porsche Super Cup has proven very popular and we hope to see a long season of close racing.

Sebring was a nice easy introduction to the series with airport runways being used as part of the track, allowing for simple overtaking manouevres in these cars which may as well not have mirrors at all.

Two phrases spring to mind:
(1) To finish first, first you have to finish.
(2) Don't hit your team mate.

Oops!

Server replay time: 0h01m18s

Geoff looks to pass Steve Bird on the inside going into Tower Turn.

Jonny O sees the move developing and aims to follow Geoff through but Geoff decides against it and JonnyO misjudges his braking point and speed and shunts Geoff from behind.

There is clear contact but the incident also seem to be slightly warp affected from the reaction of Geoff's car.

Server replay time: 0h01m18s

Cookie passes Ronnie on the inside at Tower Turn.

Cookie had no overlap at turn in and Ronnie had every right to the racing line.

Cookie should have conceded the corner, especially as the two are team mates, and this is a team based series.

Both continue unaffected.

Tom took a look at me driving round (UKGPL_3 is up for practice) and shook his head and left.  laugh

I was busy overdriving to a 2:58 and he sauntered round in 2:52 Sad

Thanks for the tips, Tom, appreciate it. I'll try them out later. I was a bit busy to chat...

Cheesy sure. I was actually testing my pedals as I'd just cleaned them, after I noticed some spluttering in the throttle pedal at Monaco yesterday.

I can do 1:48's on my own, perhaps faster with slipstream. I could see you were very carefull with the car on turn in. The Porsche is a car which can be taken by the scruff of the neck and thrown about even more than a 65 car. So I'd advice to turn in more aggresively on entries to corners. Do not brake later, your braking distances are the same as mine. You can also floor it once you hit the apex of the corner, the back end will not step out unless it's a really slow corner like the hairpin. But the main thing is to make better use of the steering wheel Smiley .

Does anyone happen to have a setup for the Porsche for Sebring?

Tommie.

Blimey - if you can do 1:48's I need to get a tow rope - 2:48 I think  laugh

Tried to be more agressive and saw lots of the scenery - hay bales, planes, cones etc.  laugh

Still I am down to a 2:56 which is respectable I think and I can probably run 2:58's steady. Not exactly an easy track to defend on though...

Ok this is turning into a journal but just had a quick race with our new Brazilian member Raoni - three laps and I hoped to lose no more than 25 seconds. Three laps, three crashes - minor but still time consuming. 3:07, 3:06 and 3:02. 40 seconds down. If I had run my 2:58's like I planned I would have been 19 secs down. That would have been ok but it is funny what adrenaline does. Made silly mistakes trying to get that extra bit of speed. That 90+ degree turn on to the back straight is really hard to carry speed into and I can't seem to get the hairpin right. Apart from that not too bad.

I know I shouldn't be pleased with the mediocrity but when I started this morning I was doing 3:20 so I've improved by 12%. Its the next 12 that is hard laugh

If you see me loafing around anywhere paul, grab my setup off me and we`ll have some steady laps... 1:52pbs with 1:54 being a gentle stroll. no need to throw the car around when its a PRO damage event... there`ll be a lot of non-finishers so get yaself a nice stable setup and cruise to a points finish....
I`ll be there at the start but I doubt if my connection will hold long enough to see the finish Smiley

I'm crap at developing setups so there is no point in me giving you any advice.  However I downloaded Steve Cloyd's WR setup from GPLRank and I found it to be very driveable (no alien tentacles needed).  I recommend starting with that.

You go here: http://gplrank.schuerkamp.de/php-pub/user.php?showWR and click on the track and car you want, and then click on the laptime here: http://gplrank.schuerkamp.de/php-pub/user.php?showHotlaps=1487,53,1

In there is the replay and some times, like in this, the setup. Good luck!

I'm probably going to miss this one, both due to lack of practice (no steering wheel, but will probably buy some joystick tomorrow) and because I'm out to celebrate two friends names day.

Nothing, but it doesn't get detected on my new PC, even though the sound card appears to be working OK (it's a gameport wheel). I was going to use my old PC to at least be able to drive, but then it went down due to some electric shock which fried the HDD and something else (doesn't show picture at all when I turn the PC on).

T7 Server is ready set for a 19 laps GP race, listening on Igor in Console session. So remember to launch a GP race, not Long.

Il be there, fpollicardi...  And thanks for the setup. I hardly would be of any use with my 3.07 laptimes, but whatever. And with gt's i often get random screenfreezes online and offline (one of the reasons i hate them so much) so idk how long I will last in the race...  Embarrassed

edit: make that 3.30 laptimes... maybe 3.45...  :'(

Hi Hristo

There is an adapter possible for Gameport-> USB!
In my pre online times, I used one for my RC-Controler cause the receiver had a Gameport adapter.
Got it at Conrad electronics, for about 20€ called "MANHATTAN". No need for software installation.
