Moderator's Report

Moderating report for Race 1.

Server replay time: 0h01m08s

Skymole skids off after Paddock Hill bend. Rejoining the track he cuts across Blito. Blito avoids any impact although warp may have propelled Skymole into the opposite bank.
Please take care rejoining the track - particularly early in the race where there are cars in close order.

Moderator's Report

Race 2 report as below. No reported incidents but a bit of a havoc off the start line.
I would also take this opportunity to remind drivers that all Resets attract a compulsory Stop & Go in this championship.

Server replay time: 0h00m52s

Fulvio runs into Blito off sthe start line. Blito does slow before the incident but this this is in reaction to the car ahead. Fulvio is quick on the brakes but should have allowed the lead car more space. Vos was an innocent victim.

Server replay time: 0h00m53s

Blito resets after the collision but fails to take a Stop & Go.
30 seconds added.

Server replay time: 0h00m54s

Vos takes an extra lap before taking his stop & go. No harm done but higher standards are expected from the Chief Mod.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h00m56s

In the aftermath Billy slows to avoid the crash & is struck by Badblood from behind. No penalty in view of the confusion cuased by the preceding incident.

  • Racing incident

Not sure if this is Round 2 or Round 3. As most of you will know a decision was taken to cancel the Goodwood race due to a mass secreen freeze / disco which took out about half the field. Unfortunately Goodwood looks likely to be consigned to the dodgy track list unless somebody comes up with a fix. We will therefore schedule a replacement fixture at the end of the season at Virginia International Raceway. This track was used on last seasons 67 Division & ran without any problems. We will use the same 65 cars – BT7 & Honda – as were intended for Goodwood.
So Round 3 will stay in England at Brands Hatch & continues with the 65 Mod. The track can be downloaded here brands hatch

Brands requires little introduction but I would point you to a track fix. (I have downloaded & installed it but not actually tested it.) https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=9245.0

For any new entrants to Spec Racing the format is a little different from other divisions. There will be two Int Short Races, back to back on the same track. For each event there are two chassis available and you should drive both cars - anyone daft enough to use the same car will be disqualified for Race 2. Start with whichever chassis you like. Your choice of chariot is the Brabham BT11 v the Lotus.

There is no handicapping all participants will run in one division. A slight change in moderating procedures from previous seasons:
Unlimited resets are allowed but every Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.
In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation on lap one.
Also please note that qualifying runs are limited to 12 minutes.

Sorry to spoil it for you, Billy, but VIR is as bad as Goodwood in terms of causing screen freeze, if not worse. I suffered a freeze along with other people at it last season, in the Graduates race. Please choose something else...  Smiley

I second that. Even though I crashed out in the race, I had a freeze in quali.

Are there plans to run any 69 Xtra races in the specs this season?

Tommie.

Thanks Hristo & Tommie. I'm not going to ignore another warning about rogue tracks. Next on my list is Laguna Seca - I've done a couple of races there & not aware of any problems.

If you mean Laguna Seca '67 then yeah, it's fine (and great to race at!).

Yes H - Laguna 67.

Vos - just been having a glance through the dodgy track lists & a couple of leagues have blackballed Sandown 68 which is on the Graduates calendar for later in the season.

OK I'll try and remember to look. Shame so many tracks are closed off for online racing...

Yes the Spa Race 69 race will be run with the 69 Extra Mod.

I'm also open to persuasion to change the Zandvoort Race from 67 to 69 Extra - if thats what people want. Not intending to make wholesale changes & its not a vote but post if you'd like to change Zandvoort.

I won't mind that, it would be nice to have more 69 races, especially with the new mod. Hope it's not heavier on graphics though.

Me too, would like to race the new 69's at Zandvoort. Unfortunately the Spec series isn't very suited to show the diversity of the mod, but it's possible to showcase the different graphical options.

Eagle Climax vs. Matra MS80 Cheesy .

Tom do you know if there'll be a light version for Dedicated Server, it needs double amount of RAM than 66 Mod. and also those client with old pcs and only 1 Gb RAM will be in troubles.

Fulvio / Tommie
You chaps obviously understand the computer issues better than me. From what I gather the 69 Extra Mod is a large programme and may cause problems for the server & possibly the capabilities of some drivers machines.
If the Mod will run satisfactorily then I'm happy to run the Spa & the Zandvoort races with 69 Extra BUT I have already cancelled & rescheduled one league race this season & there isn't really room to reschedule another.
Maybe we need some test races first?
If you can let me know if 69 Extra is safe to run as a league race that would be great - either here or by PM. The good news is Spa isn't until 19 August.
