Moderator's Report

A win for FMG leaves him at the top of the table in Works.

No reported incidents. A lap one review shows only one item; Hristo careers to the left, loses a wheel and spins. Most avoid it but Rick could not and loses places. There is mention of an 'invisible wall' and his car suddenly appears to tip sideways (well wonky) so I am inclined to agree there is more to it then a loss of control. Either way it is classed as a racing incident.

Moderator's Report

With two previous silvers and now a win Ronnie heads up the Privateers.
A review of lap one shows two incidents, the first being one of those things the second being a loss of control, both with knock-on effects. There was also a second reset so a big reminder more then one is not a good idea.

Can I also remind you that if, in qually, you mess up a lap please leave things clear for those still on a potential hotlap and please don't try to race someone when in this position. No names this time but big brother is watching.

Server replay time: 0h00m46s

Mike J blows his engine on the start grid. S*it happens. Unfortuantely the knock-on effects were hold ups for Jason and Bernie.
Also, whilst Billy is trying to negotiate around the carnage, he clips Steve B's tyres. Whilst it is being counted as a racing incident advice to Billy as the onus was on him to either wait or make sure it was 100% clear before trying to get round.

Server replay time: 0h02m41s

Vosblod loses control and goes into a haybale. Shortly after Mike then Jason join him.
This is classed as a racing incident but it is a reminder to be aware you are running on cold tyres and be extra cautious on lap one.

Server replay time: 0h12m05s

Hannah, who had just been lapped, hit's Diki going into the corner. Hannah has closed quickly from some way back and there is no excuse for this.
It is appreciated Hannah admits his error but I am afraid the rules are clear cut and do not allow leniency. The driver ahead was in traffic and this needs to be accounted for.

The rules have this;
Blatant Rear End Shunt
"The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter made no allowance for the victim whatsoever. The shunter was in full control."

Server replay time: 0h31m44s

Blito takes a second reset. The rules are unequivocal in that only one sh/r is allowed. Anyone taking more automatically receives a race disqualification.

The track H posted in the vid is torino55, but we are racing turin55. There isn't much difference between the two, one or two corners have been altered but in any case any practice done at torino55 will come in handy at turin55 too.
Tommie.

Someone has to clarify this one quick as we are definitely running Torino 55v2 according to the link given??

Don't forget, the registration threads for each division contain download links to the add on tracks that will be used. Those links are active before the season starts so you can get them straight away.

Just tried a few laps on this track which is a new one for me ( not even tried the older version before).Very nice graphics, but I think my rig is struggling with all the detail and I might have to turn things down a little for the race.

I can agree with Tommy's description of "Monaco" like, but it has some very fast sweeping sections too which are great when you get them dead right and take blind bends and crests absolutely flat with no lift, but suicidal if you are a fraction off of the one and only racing line . The main similarity to Monaco is the lack of run off areas...make a mistake and you WILL pay the price.

Once I had done 5-6 laps and got the circuit more or less fixed in my memory, I thought I would try a race against the AI, just to see where there might be room for passing opportunities  Wink

Ha! Ha! It seems the AI have not read the rules about driving etiquette!! I was blatantly blocked, run off the road on the straights, cut up in corners, sandwiched in the chicanes and generally made to feel like a fart in a spacesuit..... most unwelcome!!! Undecided.

I think the mods should take a look at these AI chappies and dish out a few yellow cards!! Some of the monster pile ups that they produced just have to be someone's fault  lol

If you head back to SRMZ Clive, using the same link, there's a modified Ai on page 2, which might be an improvement.  I've not battled them yet, as I'm one who's been out, racing the wrong track version! Roll Eyes

A practice server for this track might help people see what online racing is going to be like?

Its up but it took, literally, hours to download the track. Sorry about that. The track is quite nice and not difficult to learn but I was going round in 1:55 and par is 1:35. I might get to 1:45 with a bit more confidence but I would just be a moving chicane - I will almost certainly skip this one. I can't practice tomorrow as Miniblood has a birthday party but we'll see.

unless I suddenly find myself with a few hours spare tomorrow for practice, which is unlikely, I doubt I'll be taking part in this one.  I've not even downloaded the track yet. Sad

During my 30 minute run-around to learn the track i found I could cruise round in 1:42.xx but if I started to push for a time then I would certainly crash!  The one decent lap I did was a 1:37.xx but I don't expect to repeat that tonight.. Its a cruise to a points finish for me I think!

I've been crashing too!  I have just succumbed, to a 2nd full bodied, systems shutting, freeze, while Ukgpl_3ing the track!  I might have to consider practicing on the longer version, 'til racetime.  Let us hope all our races end, in good old fashioned  mutilation.   Cool

I don't have time to do a guide, but I did a few laps today and uploaded the lap on Youtube, the replay and setup. Here:

Goodness me, that track download link is slow!

With the weather being a little damp I cant do some of the stuff I needed to and was hoping to get some track time but at this rate I could be waiting some time yet for the download to complete.

I will post a link from my site up here once (if) I get the complete file, until after the race, in case anyone else is hoping to do a last minute download of the track.

I've done a little more practice and actually Im quite enjoying this track! It somehow manages to have plenty of variety with the mixture of corners but somehow it all manages to flow very nicely. I am comfortable in the 1:39s with full race fuel now, best advice I can give to the other tail-end charlies is to brake early, especially for the chicane on the run back to the flag!

An oddity of this track that I've just noticed is that the driver on pole can't see the start flag with a normal forward view. Not that I'm likely to find this troubling.

Last 67 for me - too much hassle from the wife in addition to which I am embarrassingly bad at these without practice.
