Moderator's Report

The Novices always look forward to Silverstone, and Billy was so excited that he started before everybody else.

Unfortunately he was spotted and reprimanded.

Skymole also thought about going early when Billy moved ahead of him but his quick apology to the stewards saw him excused.

Not many reports from this race but don't let that fool you.

There are more than a few penalties.

Server replay time: 0h00m30s

Billy loses control in T1, hits the inside wall and bounces across track where he is hit by Skymole.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m20s

Fran Rear Ends DU Fossa into Becketts on Lap1.
He claims Warp is involved but I have no client replay to check.
The server shows contact but a quite violent reaction from Du Fossa's car so there may be some warp element involved.
However, given that this was Lap 1 of the race when warp tends to be at its highest, Fran was taking a risk by getting so close to Du Fossa entering Becketts.

I have taken the warp effect into account but Fran could have avoided the incident by driving more carefully.

REVISION
- Blatant Rear End Shunt: Penalty 2 Places + 1 for lap one
The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter made no allowance for the victim whatsoever. The shunter was in full control -

Server replay time: 0h01m45s

Martin makes the catch of the race when he passes Fabio round the outside at Stowe.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h04m33s

Martin hits Norbert entering Becketts.
Martin claims that Norbert braked early enough to allow him a pass but he had no overlap and left his move very late.
Norbert was already heading for the apex and was in the middle of the track so any gap was fast closing.
Martin hit the inside kerb and lost control before hitting Norbert.

Server replay time: 0h04m42s

Norbert spins at Becketts and drives across the track in front of an approaching BadBlood who hits him.

Norbert had a clear view of approaching traffic but made no allowance for it.

Server replay time: 0h07m00s

Martin and Fabio contest Abbey.
Fabio is on the inside and the two are bot making a valid attempt to win the corner.
Martin suffers a warp contact and is thrown from the track.

Warp Incident

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h14m25s

Fran spins at Becketts and recovers across the racing line as Blito approaches.
Blito takes avoiding action and hits the fence.

Server replay time: 0h30m33s

Not an incident as such but Karliss asked me to look at it and give my opinion.
Karliss was following Skymole into Copse and had to brake hard to avoid a collision, making himself spin in the process.
Skymole continues apparently unaffected but discos along the next straight.
Is this disco caused by Karliss?

I do not think that the two incidents are related and I do not think it is Karliss' fault that Skymole had a Disco shortly after their near miss.
It is a slight possibility of course that Skymole's client saw some extra data traffic but his Disco would then have probably happened immediately rather than so long afterwards.
I do not think that Karliss could have done anything to prevent Skymole's Disco.
Sometimes accidents do happen.

UKGPL Season 21 65 Novices Trophy
Race 4 Silverstone

The fourth round of the championship sees the Novices at Silverstone, driving around the former World War 2 Bomber Base.

Half the circuit is in Northamptonshire and half is in Buckinghamshire, and it was first used for motorsport in September 1947 when 12 friends held an impromptu race on the deserted airfield. One of them, Maurice Geoghegan, from Silverstone village ran into a sheep writing off his car. The sheep didn't fare too well either and the race became known as the Mutton Grand Prix.

Drivers should be especially careful on lap 1 as usual but hopefully this fast circuit will not compress the field once safely through Becketts.

Please see the Novices registration thread for an explanation of the chassis allocations shown below:

Forgot about my daugthers Birthday (well didn't forget, just kept thinking it was tomorrow), so I doubt I'll be able to make it here tonight.

Hope everyone has fun.

£89 for cinema tickets? Did you rent the whole cinema, or I am getting old? I haven't been to the cinema in a while, please tell me that was for a large group of people.

11 people - 2 adults and nine children - Joseph invited five friends and of course, Mummy, his elder brother and younger twin sisters just had to see Pirates of the Carribean 4 (which was actually quite good fun).

In addition to which I just can't nail this bloody track. 1:35.10 - blast.

If you do 35s every lap you will finish quite well.

Lol - 35.10 if I nail one lap - the next one tends to be a 1:43 or so Sad

In 67's though I can do a 2.03 - no problem at all, well except for Beckets, Stowe, Club, Abbey, Woodcote, Copse - oh and a couple of others. Some people say 'once round the track', I prefer hundreds of times round... Cheesy
