Grin Another fun race. With a poor start I had my work cut out to get P2 back. Navin was gone but I had a great battle with Syd whom drove brilliantly. I new I had to pull a gap with the Aston as the tyres would get second hand but Syd kept the gap bang on 3 sec & less it was like racing Geoffers all over again.  Shocked Well done everyone whom raced excellent fun as usual.  Grin

Well that was great fun.
First congrats to Navin, you were untouchable. Congrats to Mark as well, after a race long battle, for the second.
I had excellent qualifying and ended up third, just a tenth off second place. Navin was a couple of second further ahead. There was a lot shuffling on the first lap, and suddenly, at start of the second lap I was second with 6 seconds of advantage over the next car. But I made a mistake at end of the lap in the chicane, almost spun out and lost half of that advantage to the next car which at this point was Mark. After a few more laps of him constantly gaining on me over half a second a lap he was right behind. I saw that 4th place was some 6-7 seconds behind, and I decided since Mark was faster I would let him through and try to keep the gap to rest of the field. As the race went on Mark didn't quite manage to get away from me, while I kept increasing the gap to those behind. In the last third of the race Marks tires went off, and I closed right up and we had a great lap for the last 6-7 laps. I'm sure I was faster over a lap distance at this point as I was often setting pb sectors, but those straights were murder for the Alpina. I'd go through T1 better, close up, than Mark would get away on the twisty fast section. Then I would gain most of deficit back on the braking for T2, than stay very close through most of the lap.  I actually got ahead once coming out of the chicane but the speed of the Aston got Mark ahead before the next turn. In the end it was a very exciting battle between two very different cars and I'm happy with my third place.

Replay and results now posted

So we now know the three makes contesting the final two events. But for Geoffers, Mark would be wearing the laurel neck tie, but will probably have to wait for next time.

Like Tony thought I didn't expect the Aston would be the car here but late in practice I found a new line through the first sets of corners that gained me a ton of time and was easy on the tires as well. Getting to that point I should thank Henry for his 3x tire wear leagues in the past served me well here today. Wink Having a decent start and the fact that others were dicing straight away allowed me a 4 second gap after the first lap. Fortunate to get the gap which allowed me to go immediately into save the tires mode and tried to keep the car from sliding too much. I'm sure all the other Aston drivers had some fun sliding the car through those first sets of corners about 3/4 race distance with the rear tires going off. Was that a handful or what!!! 007 drift machine Grin.. It sure looked like Mark and Syd had the best time racing here today having another 2 different car battle that was very very close. Congrats to both for their solid podiums Smiley. Also should be mentioned that Phil did a great job in that Healey Cool Dam good in that just plain evil thing. I would rather get kicked in the nuts then drive the Healey Shocked I fear the next race Sachsenring will kill off the Aston but at least with only one more race to go.

Hey Navin,

look at Tony's post.

As I understand you can stay with the Aston for the last two races.

Not if the majority use it in the next race. Three cars left, the most popular one in the next race gets dropped.

Had some frustrating laps at first as I made a poor start and found myself behind Tony and Stig without
an easy pass, dropped back some from the rest of the pack, and then attempted to pass on the fast
part after T1, might have made it if I had managed a better run out of T1, but ended up sandwiched
between the two alpines as we approached the tight right. Brake early and I run the risk of slewing into
one or the other, brake late and I could spear someone, didn't quite get it right and nudged Tony up
the bum. (sorry for that) then fell off myself a couple of times, was slowly catching Phil but then
tyres went off and I was 2 secs slower and the car was hard to keep straight, lonely race until
Stig caught me and would have passed if he hadn't spun trying to avoid my ponderous tractor
in the final turn. I then got wobbly into the tight right again, and got stuck behind the ambulance
finally got going, and Stig politely (or fearfully)  Roll Eyes allowed me room to stay in front.

Slightly confused by the cars thing, It says two will race at the final, so we drop the Alpine now
and then drop a car at the next event leaving 2 ?

So it looks like we don't have consensus on the car rules for the last two races Smiley. Tony, clarification?

Happy to oblige. We go to Germany with three makes. The Aston Martin, Austin Healey and Mercedes 300SL. After Germany the most popular car make driven there will be dropped. Leaving just two makes to be chosen for Sweden.
