Moderator's Report

No incidents aside from Geoff's unforced spin and a spot of grass-cutting by the midfield on Lap 1.

This race provided some very good battles and entertainment through the field and had no reported incidents, as such the results stand as you see them.

Well done to Natan for taking the victory and Fulvio and Juha for filling the remaining steps on the podium.

First engine blow up in the Honda and I am not too surprised. The laps I did was hectic and I did not really have time to take care of the engine. I was behind Cluch4 just in front if Tim(FMG) and remember thinking that it was a long way until the 50% when it went poff and no more Honda in the race because a couple of laps earlier I saw Raoni had some kind of problem too and had to quit the race.

Congrats to the race winner and the new championship leader.

Pleased to finally see the finish line in Pros, after a difficult start to the season. You guys are too quick... Smiley

Qually went well but I knew the three behind me (FMG, Clutch and Evil) would be quicker, so expected, and got, a busy start to the race, with Goran's Honda in there as well. I didn't fight too hard as I was keen to just get a finish, but it was lonely race most of the time.

In the last third the scrapping Ronnie and Tim were closing up which made me concentrate and pull away again. But still couldn't muster a decent lap time, way slower than qually which was a dissapointment.

Well done to all the finishers, sounds like some great battles were had all around the field.

I never thought I'd be so exited to finish 5th!  Grin

Ha an awesome duel with clutch quite litterally from T1 on the first lap (I note from the replay he passed me round the outside while I was avoiding everyone  scooter) right up till the flag, with a couple of swaps on the way and an epic 4 way battle for several laps when Juha's Lotus crashed the party with Clive in tow  Grin

I'm tempted to stick the footage from Clive's car up on Youtube when my mouse has recharged for everyone to see it's that chaotic!  angel

Was a shame I couldn't follow Juha past Clutch as with the help of his tow I could finally have escaped - but on my own there was no-way the Brab could out run his Lotus. Clive's attempts at stealing my hard earnt place were thankfully scuppered when he finally succumbed to melted tyre syndrome and lost the draft with only 2 or 3 laps to go  sweatdrop

Well done to Natan, Fulvio and Juha.
And especially to Clutch for somehow hanging on for the entire race despite all the distractions I could throw at you!  Grin

Never been able to work out how to hook up a 65 car round here. Qualified 8th with something approaching a PB, so was reasonably happy and with the look of the qually times, most people were within a second or so, so i knew the race had the potential to be close.

This was possibly my best online race ever, purely as it was all action. I worked my way up to 5th / 4th within the first few laps and was starting to slowly pull in what would become the 1st and 2nd place finishers. However, after about 10 laps as the fuel burned off and the tyres settled down, the balance of the car was awful. Understeer, oversteer, 2 or 3 corrections needed per corner and an inability to get the power down. It was all under control and i knew i wouldn't crash or be a danger to anybody but the pace had gone.

After that, there was basically a 20+ lap battle with FMG, J.Halli, with Evil also hanging around waiting to pick up the pieces if i remember.

I have to give maximum credit to T.Muttram (FMG). Superb, fair driving for the full race, (we seemed alongside each other for most of it). We gave each other just enough space and he didn't make a 'desperate dan' style move even though for a lot of the race i was struggling once the balance went. At one point, i was considering letting him past to see if that would allow me a free 'slipstreaming' ride up to the leaders as i knew i was holding him up, but i decided against it. Though i was mulling that one over for at least 4 laps. Anyway FMG, hope my lines were fair and realise i was a bit wayward at times.  Wink

During the last 8+ laps the balance of the car returned and i was able to be a bit more consistant and up my pace, though the odd missed gear on my gated G25 Stick Shifter and a few missed apex's allowed the pressure to return from those behind.

To be fair, i didn't have the pace for 4th place, but somehow managed to hang on.

As some of my previous posts have pointed out, i think the Pro races are a little too long for me, but thats the way it is, and if they're all like this, then i can't complain of being bored.  Wink

Two Silverstone races down, two to go and I'm still not sure whether I like this track.

But the racing was good and I had great fun trying to keep Vos behind me for most of the race. He just would not give up as we battled over 8th place. I seemed to have just enough acceleration out of the bends to keep ahead although it was hard work as he hounded me the whole time. Congrats to the podium boys and Ross for that finish at last.

Yeah, I watched that live after my retirement, great stuff! Was a little miracle how you all avoided contact on multiple occasions.  Shocked

As for my race, it started well, and although Juha was very quick and putting pressure on me, I could fend him off by having good exits off corners and braking just a moment later than him, thus negating his engine and slipstream advantage. I wasn't sure how far off Raoni had dropped back, because he would've been a threat given his qualifying pace, but some time after Juha dropped back with a mistake, I saw a message stating that Raoni has quit the server.

Unfortunately, the hard push in the beginning in my attempt to keep Juha at bay must've damaged the engine and it eventually expired, even though I was treating it nicely. I guess it's just bound to happen sometimes...

Grats to Nat for a well deserved win, he spent a lot of time putting pressure on Fulvio, who I think had a couple of chances to recover his lost position, but couldn't quite do so. Grats to Juha on a great recovery! And also grats to Clutch for snatching 4th out of that intense battle with Tim and Evil.

Great Video FMG

That clip sums up the beauty of this game for anyone who hasn't tried it

Classic Cars
Classic historic layout of a current track
'Drifting' racing lines
Difficult, but rewarding online fun

To be fair, the clip makes it all luck so easy, but as we all know, more often than not, GPL can be 'seat of the pants' stuff!

Yes great video Tim, thanks for posting it. I think I appeared in the background at one point Wink

Frustrating not to be able to join in, as you guys passed me early on I hoped to use the tow to stay in touch but after a few corners you were gone Sad

Looking at the video you seem to carry a lot of speed on corner entry, turning in early and getting the car to slide into the apex. Watching Evil using opposite lock at Club every lap was funny Cheesy

Well done to you all for racing cleanly in such close company.

we have good battle for 1st place few lap with Hristo but i couldnt hold my Lotus33 on road and spun off, these have wierd grip sometimes . After that some nice racing there it was hard to overtake racers trio: Clutch,FMG,Evil but after some laps trying i managed to get away of them ,thank to powerfull Lotus33.
Fulvio was way too far and no laps to go to catch him.

Yep enjoyed it - averaged about 70 yards for 30 odd laps LOL. I was just hoping the pressure would make you slip up but you are a man who doesn't fold Grin
