How do these cars fit in then? Seem a random collection to me but maybe on track they might fit.

they do seem a random set of classic cars, particulary as nearly everyone is from a different year to the others in the set. Perhaps some old boy will come along and tell us which ones raced each other on track  Wink

Some cool cars in there though and its only 5 euros. Think i'll wait and see what feedback it gets over at RD. I'd rather they had brought out more modern gt cars personally, to compliment the GT power pack. This seems too much of a token effort to cash in on classic racing unless they plan to release more retro cars after this.

ps..this is what we got in the patch the other night :-

Race07 1.2.1.9 Update Released:

Updates to Race 07 have been released.

The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. This patch will bring your game to version 1.2.1.9.

This update includes the following changes:
Race'07 and dedicated server are now "hillclimb-enabled" to support the upcoming Retro Expansion.
 New smoke effects.
New corner markers that are now valid for any type of car on a given track.
Fix for a missing button in championship mode that did not allow the user to go back.
Fix for 64bits operating systems where the game could suddenly run out of memory and crash.

Thank you Simbin for giving me the motivation to race again. Excellent driving and sounds.
What a fantastic expansion and only for 5€.
A 2 classes championship would be amazing.  Cheesy

This mod has the potential to bring together competitiors from Race 07, GTL and P&G and could yield massive grids especialy for two group racing.

It's going to be interesting seeing what our new Race07 Director brings to the table.

Will a poll be offered to gauge interest in Hill climb events?

Well I didn't expect much from this, but I'm very impressed. The Retro Max cars really are very good, while the Retro Cool cars are not quite as nice...the Mini is pretty naff imo  :'( Sounds are nice, skins are so so.

The setup options are a bit limited with locked diff and no final ratio options on (all Undecided) some cars. Had a quick blast around VLM MidOhio last night and the cars handle nicely on default setups and seem very well balanced within their groups.

Personally I'm not convinced about these hillclimbs, I'd rather go wheel to wheel with other drivers especially with those Retro Max cars which are a real blast to drive.

At only 5 Euros it's a must have for any retro racer  Cool

retro max and retro cool ?  Roll Eyes do you think they are trying to sell classic racing to youngsters?  laugh

will watch this space. 5 euros is nothing but dont really need any further racing distractions at present with enough to fill my plate already.

Tony have you updated your steam client software? That usually needs doing if you have a problem with race, though i did also have to contact their excruciating support desk when i renewed my rig.

I deleted Steam off my system and re-installed it but that didn't fix it. Steam support are next to useless. I think I'll empty the registry of anything saying steam and re-install again. I must try this retro mod asap.

Sometimes steam didn't launch my Race 07. What fixed it for me was go to the steamapps Race 07 dir and open the config. Could be that your resolution is set wrong. Set that to your native screen resolution and it launches for me than.

Cheers, I'll give that a go before I start destructing it.

I wasnt planning on getting this one as it kinda feels like it should come with more cars and the track is a token gesture. I'vw gone off PnG and GTL and the whole historic thing. Seems the're rummaging at the back of their cupboards for content here. Hillclimbs only really work if you havent been up there much, once you get people memorising it like circuits then you loose the blind nature of it.

If those with more historic experience want to look at it, thats fine. Remember though it will need to be bought for the server as well.
