Really enjoyed that, managing 1:05-6's on hards with low wing. Was just getting into a nice chase with GT and I think Legzy in when I got a tap from behind which sent me off and cost me 3 places.

Pitted mid way for tyres as mine were shot trying to make up the places and misjudged the pit entry and lost my front wing  Huh

112 secs later they eventually released me from the pits, but by then my race was over. Did have ALOT of fun on the main straight though blasting round people, the Ferrai engine/ low wing combo had me touching 197 by the end of straight, mind you, soon lost any advantage in the 3rd sector as she was a handful through there and it was only towrds the end of race that I found a line that I was comfortable with.

Well that was gutting. I apologise for keeping everyone waiting for the full two minutes at the start. During qualifying, real life got in the way and I was needed elsewhere, but was hoping I'd make it back to the session with 5 mins to go. Sadly when I went back to the PC I was 5 minutes too late. Big apologies all round from me  Embarrassed.

Sorry to hear you had to miss this one Samb....wondered what had happened to you.

A special mention too I think for Apex who, despite putting himself in the not so desirable Larrousse, stuck to it and made it to the finish thumbup1

Unlucky Sam as well in the other Lotus. Next time I'll ping over my setup as well, altho i confess i'm not great at setting up cars!

At the start of this series my thought was that drivers would pick a car which matched their pace at that time and then develop it through the season, and swap cars only if it was clear they'd made the wrong choice. I still think the basic idea is good, but I am working on a system for next season which will hopefully create more parity.

good stuff. just tried the silverstone 88 track. It basically has one corner and a chicane so happy to stick with it for the race  Cheesy

I managed to stall at the start and as I have manual clutch and could not get the car restarted it was race over for me. Roll Eyes

Pretty gutted as the cars were great on that track. I did have fun watching the race though. There was a fight at almost all times in the race somewhere. Then purdie passed TT on the last lap with a nice move. It was more entertaining than many F1 races I have seen. Grin

See you all at silverstone. Smiley

It's not you in the wrong car mate, you're roughly mid pack pace wise, ignoring the 3 fastest. There are some still in cars that make them too competitive. They're the ones that should move to the right cars, not you move back to one you were blatently too fast in, surely?

I will have to respectively argue that statement. Mid pack? I qualified 12 of 13. And my race pace was even worse.. In the last round at Detroit if you take all 10 drivers best race lap times and average them out you get a time of 1:36.7. My best race lap was 1:35.9. I would not call .8 quicker blatantly too fast. If we do the same math at Paul Ricard without including APEX who was way off pace, the average race laptime for 11 drivers is 1:05.5. My best race lap time was 1:06.9. that make me 1.4 seconds slower than the average. So if .8 is blatantly too fast than 1.4 is blatantly too slow. The main reason I won at Detroit was everyone had problems. I was the only one who didn't pit for tires and or damage. Most had some damage so they had to stop twice as well.
Another thing I don't think you are taking into consideration is consistency. That will make a race distance seem like another driver is much quicker than another driver that is just a little off from lap to lap. It adds up over a race. When I say I had a crap showing I know I had a BS run because I was all over the place in lap time. Totally in contrast to this race at Montreal. I've made my point but that said, I'll stay with one of the "missing cars" to avoid any animosity as this is for fun after all.. Grin Hopefully with this season knowledge we will be able to get everyone in their proper cars. I guess I didn't belong in the Lotus for 2/3rd's of the season so I guess it's fair I'm in something that is a bit of a dog for the last part.

lol, stats can be used to show what you want. Look at your best lap time in that race & compare it to the average best lap of all the race finishers... A quick tot-up looks to me like you were 2 secs a lap quicker! Stats eh laugh

Actually, I'm taking your consistency totally into account. We want drivers close at the finish line not the start line right? If everyone's close at the end, then it's likely everyone will have had a fairly busy race & nobody has been way ahead/behind the pack. Smiley
p.s. FYI if my maths is correct, you need 7th position in this last race to guarantee our first UKF1'88 title after three wins & two second places from 6 races  Smiley (obviously less if GT doesn't win Silverstone)

Basically mate, there were 4 people who managed a 1:04 in this race. They just seem outrageously quicker than the rest & I would have thought they'd want to take maybe the next slower car available at Silverstone, they'll have more people to race with Cool

(Now go get a slower car nono Wink)
I would like to try the Williams or Arrows remaining but they may not be too dissimilar to the Lotus. So then I would join Legzy in the March. Any thoughts GT?
Shocked
I was suggesting you go get a slower car, the Williams is quicker than your current Lotus, the Arrows is quicker still & the March is probably the 3rd best car! laugh laugh
Obviously excluding the fastest couple, weren't you about the right pace in the Benetton (that's now vacated by Navin)?

Stats can show what you want? Gee, I thought stats were the mathematical truth and not a roughly thought out stat. Personally I don't think consistency should be handicapped the same way as lap time speed. But I have no problem with other people's ideas on how they run their series. It's not my business. Lord knows, no one liked Henry's 3X tire wear at GTLDK's past championships. But I will at least respectfully give my opinion.
What I do know is that (and I think GT would agree with this) I've raced GT enough in the past races to know we are about the same in lap time if we are both practiced equally. As far as championships go I couldn't care less about them. You know how many championships I won over the years? Neither do I. It's online racing!! No one gives a #$%^..  I want to race and have battles whenever I can and as much as I can. The best stuff in this series for me has been the great battles like with Sam Blood at Detroit.. And nothing better than driving side by side through several sets of corners with someone you can trust like Matt and I did at Mexico Wink Been in many league's in the past and this site has one of the best group of drivers I've had the pleasure to race with Grin  Cheers boys
