Sorry guys, got called away by the wife dashed back just in time to get DQ'd, never mind, next time

BTW how many of you guys are running with shifters, H gate or sequencial?

I have just strated using the 6 speed shifter and clutch, amazing fun and so much more immersive, but bugger me I'm slow with it lol

Using clutch and paddles on G25. Cool

Paddles and manual clutch only for starts here on my G27.

Tried using the H shift for realism sake but tbh I found it so far removed from a real shifter that it wasn't worth the effort. Which  reminds me, I'm tidying my garage out atm so I'll get it listed on evilbay before it gets forgotten.

Forgot to tell, fantastic feeling to have a steering wheel that works & could keep 100% concentration on driving.

I use a "noname" steering wheel "FlashFire Cyber Racer" which obviously isn't very sophisticated.
I bought that one for a low price in the very beginning of my "racing days".

Maybe I should buy a G25 or G27 in order to improve my performances and laptimes.

Can you recommend the G25 and/or G27?

I had my G25 for four years and it's served me very well. Just don't expect it to magically make you faster. I was initially even slower, but speed is really in practicing, not in what kind of a wheel you use.

I've only run a single race with G25, but if the choice should be between G25 & G27, it would certainly be G27.
Unfortunately we have only one G25 in the house, but the switch from MS SideWinder had been much easier because of the 8 paddles on the G27, as there was on MS SideWinder wheel (exactly 6 front & 2 rear). I prefer the gearshift paddles than the H-Shifter & therefore need many paddles & one for clutch.
There are also paddles on the H-Shifter & here I have moved several things, such as flashing light & horn  Grin ...but it is better to have both hands on the wheel at all times. Do not know if it is 100% genuine leather on G25/G27 (Logitec says it's leather) but it works incredibly comfortable instead of plastic/rubber.
My Christmas wish is clearly a G27...but is there anyone who has tested both sets, the brake is just as tough on G27 ?

Oops, I forgot the video we had in GTLDK...I had to see it many times before I realized it was about G27  laugh

I would recommend a G25/27 for you Kurt. I used a early model(all red wheel) Logitech Formula Force for 9 years and had no idea how bad it was or had gotten after all the wear and tear. My muscle memory was so geared up for all the wheel faults that it took me an honest 2 weeks to get used to the new/good wheel that had no idiosyncrasy's. Once that happened I was just a bit quicker but mostly much more consistent in my driving. Easier to drive especially at the tough tracks. Now that said, my first G25 lasted less than a year before it crapped out.. Logitech honored the warranty and sent me a new one and this one is around 2 years old and seems to holding up better than the last one. The shifter did get screwy after about a year and I was able to acquire a new one on eBay. If you can get a G27 that would probably be the way to go. Pluses over the G25 are... Stronger helical rack and pinion vs straight cut gears. 6 buttons vs 2 on the wheel itself. And I would think the shifter on the G27 should be much more solid and reliable because instead of having the silly rotary switch that changes it from sequential shifting to H - pattern shifting. The G27 loses the sequential and keeps the H - pattern only. I never used anything other than H - shifting for GTL and paddles for everything else anyways so it's no loss.

Thanks guys for the info.  Smiley

I think I'll start looking for a G27.

The main difference could possibly be the 900° wheel rotation of the G25/G27 - my current wheel
has only 180°  Roll Eyes which may lead to a much mor precise way of driving.

Consistency and precision in racing would be the main reasons for me buying a new steering wheel.
