Moderator's Report

A win for Hristo but Fulvio still leads the championship.
Two lap one incidents (below).

Server replay time: 0h01m12s

Clear warp contact between Tim FMG and Rick. The server shows no contact.
Best fit rule is;
"Genuine Warp Incident: No penalty - Racing Incident
Prior to the warp incident, the following car was driving no closer than a car's length from the leading car but then closed up under braking, possibly due to the leading car braking early, but no actual contact would have been made."

Genuine Warp Contact.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m40s

Hristo makes a pass on Arf into the corner. He has over 100% overlap at turn in and Arf should have seen the move in his mirrors and know he was there. The pass was therefore legitimate.
Arf turns in and hits H, at point of impact he has only 10% overlap. H is unaffected and there is a slight element of warp although a collision was likely to have happened anyway.
The rules have this;
"Simple Ambitious Overtake: Penalty 1 Place
The overtaking car HAD achieved a 100% or greater overlap at the point of turn-in. There was no loss of control by either driver. Penalty for overtaken driver."

However, I am going to mitigate this due to the warp element and possible confusion re Arf not knowing exactly where Hristo was as the pass happened very quickly. Also Hristo was unaffected.
The two places will be waived ie that for lap one and the penalty itself. Accordingly the penalty is reduced to a warning.

Moderator's Report

A close run win for Ross. All those who reset duly complied with the Stop and Go rules although some had a spot of bother entering the pits.
One lap one incident and one transgression of the pit wall rules. Apart from that Mike J decided he would prefer to start his run with a quicky reccy of the pit area.

Server replay time: 0h00m55s

Mike T drives his car through the pit wall with no ill effects.
The rules are 100% clear on this;
"anybody seen miraculously driving through the pit wall on the server replay will be disqualified"

Server replay time: 0h01m42s

Hendy closes up too fast on Billy and clips him. Billy is unscathed but H's spin collects Paul. This is very similar to the Novices incident at Albi. Caution needs to be taken in traffic if you are later on the brakes.
The rules have this;
"Blatant Rear End Shunt: Penalty 2 Places
The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter made no allowance for the victim whatsoever. The shunter was in full control."
As this was lap one no allowance can be made for any early braking issues.

Server replay time: 0h07m02s

Skymole goes wide at Crowthorne and rejoins in front of Bernie, who moves right and tries to pass into Barbecue. Bernie has achieved approx 100% overlap, and has the inside line, but in spite of this Skymole turns in and hits Bernie.
The rules have this;
"Simple Ambitious Overtake: Penalty 1 Place
The overtaking car HAD achieved a 100% or greater overlap at the point of turn-in. There was no loss of control by either driver. Penalty for overtaken driver."

Server replay time: 0h10m04s

Skymole attempts to pass a recovering Mike J together with Fabio to his right. He moves right into Fabio before he has cleared.
The rules have this;
"Blatant Side by Side contact: Penalty 2 Places
On a straight, the overtaking car moves out to overtake but cuts back in too early. The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter made no allowance for the victim whatsoever and was in full control when the incident took place. There was no loss of control. Penalty for overtaking driver."

However it is appreciated the recovering, and slower, Mike clouded the situation somewhat so I am going to mitigate and reduce it to a 1 place penalty in view of the possible confusion.

Server replay time: 0h26m04s

Paul makes a small mistake at Clubhouse and rejoins on the left hand side of the track whilst Hannah stays right on the racing line. Hannah draws alongside due to his better exit speed from Clubhouse at which point the two cars make contact. The incident looks slighly different on all replays and hence warp is the deciding factor as contact may not have happened otherwise.
The rules have this;
"Genuine Warp Incident: No penalty - Racing Incident
Prior to the warp incident, the following car was driving no closer than a car's length from the leading car but then closed up under braking, possibly due to the leading car braking early, but no actual contact would have been made."
Whilst not the exact scenario it is the best fit.

Genuine Warp Incident

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h31m04s

Skymole closes on Hannah at Crowthorne as he prepares to lap him. Hannah is slow out of the corner and moves right off the racing line as they approach Barbecue. Skymole stays left on the racing line but before any overlap is achieved warp contact is made and both drivers spin. Contact may not have happened otherwise.
Again a 'best fit' ruling;
"Genuine Warp Incident: No penalty - Racing Incident
Prior to the warp incident, the following car was driving no closer than a car's length from the leading car but then closed up under braking, possibly due to the leading car braking early, but no actual contact would have been made."

Genuine Warp Incident

  • Racing incident

Onto the halfway mark we have Fulvio tops in Works, but only just, with Ronnie making his mark at the top of the Privateers. Both champsionships are still wide open.

The Works will run on PRO Damage and Privateers will run on Intermediate Damage with the allowance of ONE shift-R reset. No Shift-Rs are allowed in practice unless authorized by the moderator. A Shift-R (fault or not) MUST be followed by a Stop & Go. A Shift-R for tyres/fuel is not allowed. Any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result.

Race List = IGOR
Server(s);
Works = UKGPL_Gpg
IP address = 62.195.32.131
Privateers = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 03-07-2011
Time = 21:00 UK time
Track = Kyalami
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = Works; PRO / Privateers; INT
Qualifying time = 35 minutes. Don't start until 30 mins left on clock to allow everyone to join.
Race length = 50 minutes (laps 37)
Password: see above

Driver lists can be found on the Works or Privateers championship standings pages.
The track can be downloaded from : papy original
Add-on’s available at : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=1925

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 pm UK Time

Reserve drivers should not join the server(s) until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday). We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators. There will be FULL moderation of lap one regardless of whether you submit an incident report.

With the token system chassis strategy will be a factor. A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

Chassis costs;
Lotus 20 / Eagle 17 / Ferrari 15 / Brabham 10 / Cooper 5 / Honda 3 / BRM 0

To see your current tokens hover your mouse over your total points on the Works or Privateers championship standings pages. Ten tokens will be added when you cross the start line.

There are two 67 Championships, namely Works and Privateers. The driver split will be;

67 Patch: The 1.3 Release of the 67mod can be used.

NOTE: Please ensure you join the correct server, due to the way we import if you start the race on the wrong server your result will not count.

REPLAYS
Privateers server replays will be posted in the usual place after the event. Works will now be posted at http://grandprix.xs4all.nl/ . When downloading please check the timetable for other races and DO NOT download while another race is being run.

Ensure you have the pit wall in place.  The standard papy track has a pit wall but there are patches available that remove it.  The absence of a pit wall will not stop you joining the race but anybody seen miraculously driving through the pit wall on the server replay will be disqualified.
Instructions for restoring the pit wall are;
If you have installed the GFX update that removes the pitwall here is how to get it back for the race .
1. Rename or remove kyalami.trk and kyalami.3do files from your kyalami folder.
That will give you back a wall you can crash your car into. If you want the old papy Armco GFX back do this.
2. Rename or remove Armco_s.mip.

Kyalami (My home in Zulu) is a motor racing circuit located in Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa. The circuit has been used for Grand Prix and Formula One races and has hosted the South African Grand Prix many times. In recent years, the area surrounding the circuit has developed into a residential and commercial suburb of Johannesburg.  The original, sweeping circuit was in use from 1967 until political sanctions eliminated the Grand Prix after the 1985 race. When the circuit was rebuilt in the early 1990s as part of a commercial development, the pit straight, Crowthorne bend, Barbeque and Jukskei sweep corners were either eliminated or heavily modified, with the result that the circuit became a narrow, twisty ribbon rather than one of the fastest circuits on the calendar. Formula One abandoned the rebuilt circuit in 1993 after just two races (and a bankruptcy on the part of the promoter).

May not make this because the hard drive just died in my race pc.

Should be able to get another but won't have much time for practise by the time I've rebuilt it.

depends which way you look at it... when I get pissed, all GPL cars are crap... eagle is a box of fireworks on wheels and the steering wheel seems to be just an unfunctional ornament, lotus insists to donate tyres and engine parts to every tree and fence on the road, ferrari goes whenewer it wants, which is never the way you want, cooper is slow like the rich grandmother I dont have, BRM is just missing a cannon to turn into a crappy german WW2 tank, honda would be handling better at the sea with some minor modifications, and brabham is like a airplane turbine mounted on the back of a corcroach...

All these things have their bright side too fortinately...

My fav is the Braby, and of course in the real world it seemed to manage ok! Wink

Hope I can make the race, I'm out all afternoon so it will be another turn up and run with little practice should I get back in time.  Fortunately its a well known track, albeit in the BRM.

LMAO. So guess you don't remember the incident report then? By now every moderator will have a framed copy sitting on their mantelpiece Grin

On a different note Windows has kindly offered to disable my graphics card for no reason whatsover so I can't run GPL. Unlikely to be able to drive tonight as looks like a gargantuan task to fix it. Will be there to start the servers, IGOR still works so hopefully I can do that still.

Will do. It says;
Quote
At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because it's driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter

I'm guessing it has onboard graphics as can still use it but with fuzzy VGA.
