Moderator's Report

Once again there were no reported incidents in this race.

I can only assume that you are all true gentlemen drivers and very forgiving of other drivers moves as there were a few very doubtful incidents in this race, along with several "Racing Incidents" that were very racey.

Got a bit messy as we tried to make sure each driver shared the chassis but then the drivers change. So for the next race (assuming we get three) can we all use the Mirage OR 2 Mirage and one GT40 to try and even things up?
If there's space for me in grey team tonight I don't mind taking either, but would like to give the Mk 1 a go.
I'm not very good at GTs or this track but will give it a go.
Go for it, don't think I'll be able to make it. Mk1 is fine as still helps balance things up.

Very enjoyable race for me.  Had a race long tussle with Dave Rainier although we didn't pass each other once!  The gap varied as we both made slight mistakes but I had to push hard all the way to stay ahead.  We crossed the line with just a car length between us, close finish!

Funny race. Enjoyed it but I blew the engine just when I was finding a rhythm Sad

Just pootled round and set a couple of PB's to show I was competitive in the slow lane and then I slid onto the hay bales <sigh>.

Fun though. So tempting to overtake Evil on lap 1/2 when he was stuck behind another Mirage and I got a good run on them. Team discipline held though.

How is the championship decided? Best eight team totals less any penalties for chassis misuse?

Weird race for me too.

Sorry to Sky, I managed to get back in front of him on the last corner, and bounced off the barrier into his path.

Apart from that not much happened to me, I had a small battle with Cookie, before he got past me and pulled away. Next adventure was I was trying to keep away from someone lapping me, I stayed on the grass to make it easier for him, and then hit and got stuck into something that was invisible. I needed a Shift & R and lost 2 or 3 places.

After that I just cruised around until the finish.

A tricky track for such a long race...

Sorry Steve, when I touched you trying to pass.    Roll Eyes

My pace was good but I did too many mistakes.
In the first lap after the rolling start I had a misunderstanding with Fulvio on the big jump and we lost lots of places.
Trying to get back to a better position I made some experiences with fences and hayballs...
With all that bumps my enginge got sour and I decided to do an early shift+r, to not have the full fuel load later.
Yeah Al that was fun with us two Chaps Grin
Thanks to cool Phil our green Team earned some good points thumbup1

I was so intent on making sure that everyone remembered the rolling start that I was too late joining the grid!! I suppose I could have tried to regain my slot on the warm-up lap but I thought that was a sure fire recipe for disaster, so I trundled around at the back of the field. Undecided

My race was doubly complicated, because the server automatically had me as a lap down from the start so the only way that I could judge my position was by remembering which cars i had passed. Also I could not expect other drivers to know that I was actually racing them for position if they were relying on the info from prib. Each pass had to be made very cleanly and that meant it took longer to work my way back up through the field.

In clear air I could lap close to 1:31 secs, but I had very few clear laps!! lol. My progress was steady and the setup on the Mirage worked quite well, provided I did not abuse the rear tyres with too much sideways action. At about half distance i caught Dave Ranier and I could see a little further ahead the rear of Phil's Ferrari. Passing these two would get me up to about 4th or 5th position  Wink. A good plan, but of course, the higher that you progress up through the field the tougher the opposition becomes. Dave proved difficult to get past and I had to push the Mirage very hard to try and make an opening, but after a few laps of pressure I made it through.  Then there was Phil who made the most of the extra power in his Fezza and used clever defensive driving to keep me behind him for quite a few laps. I was trying increasingly hard to find a gap and it was beginning to heat up my tyres. several laps later I had still not managed anything better than a partial overlap that was never going to become a pass....ruddy Fezza power on the straights was just enough to negate my faster speed through the corners. The inevitable happened as the tyres reached a temperature where I lost the rear and went wide. Dave reagianed his place and I had it all to do again.
It took a few laps until I caught and passed dave again and I was just beginning to close on Phil again with about 5 laps to go, when I lost it again and the impact deranged some engine components. A quick look at prib ( which I was using to tell me the gaps to the cars around me) showed that I had a good time gap over the next car but I might NOT be able to maKE it to the finish. So a 10 second pitstop finished any chance of a better finish and I cruised home behind Dave Ranier.

Grats to Hristo who showed that the Porsche is a force to be rsckoned with and to the other fast boys who enjoyed a race long battle for the podium slots. Grats also to Phil who defended his position with some very clever driving and prevented me getting past ...the swine!!

Just a reminder that the last race at Le Mans Sarthe Will be approx 90 mins long, so maybe you had better start your endurance training and bladder control exercises??  Roll Eyes

No worries, Axel.  I was a bit disappointed at the time as I thought you might have waited for the straight but it may be my braking was very early in that sector as I seemed to be losing lots of time there.

I'm not good at this track and not particularly competitive in GTs so was a good bit off the pace to do anything useful so I guess I'm not too disappointed with a finish in the place that I qualified (once Evils position is corrected in the results).

This was the first proper race online with the new cable connection so that seemed to work well.

Well done to podium and finishers on a tricky track.
