Moderator's Report

A clean lap one excepting one report (below). All drivers who took a reset subsequently took and stop and go.

Server replay time: 0h01m39s

After a solo spin Geoff rejoins safely and closes on Hannah. Geoff looks for a passing opportunity and a question is raised as regards blocking. There is no collision. The nearest rule that fits is this;
"Marginal Blocking/Weaving: Caution
The blocking driver changed his line ONCE in RESPONSE to the following car's movement but well BEFORE the following car was committed to his line. No contact is made."

However, whilst it does look like Hannah moves across early for the corner, it cannot be said to be a blocking attempt. It is not clear any movement was in response to the car behind and, being lap one, Hannah's line cannot be taken as unusual.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m58s

Just after the line so NOT lap one.
On the straight Mike T is attempting a pass on the left and has over 100% overlap but has NOT cleared Billy. He then moves slightly right, presumably to line up for the upcoming corner, and hits the side of Billy. He could not see Billy in his mirrors and therefore must assume he had not cleared him.
The rules have this;
"Blatant Side by Side contact: Penalty 2 Places
On a straight, the overtaking car moves out to overtake but cuts back in too early. The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter made no allowance for the victim whatsoever and was in full control when the incident took place. There was no loss of control. Penalty for overtaking driver."

However, in mitigation, Billy should know Mike is on the left but still uses up a large chunk of the track ie he could have gone slightly more right to allow more clearance. That said Billy stayed in his position and had every right to be there.
Under the circumstances the penalty will be reduced by one place.

Server replay time: 0h08m42s

Geoff is closing on Hannah to overtake and there is a rear end collision.
The question of blocking is raised but Hannah does not appear to take a different line to nomal so the onus was on Geoff to make a clean pass. It makes no difference as to whether your intention to pass is clear to the driver in front; when racing the lead driver has every right to maintain their defensive line provided they do not block or weave.
The rules have this;
"Blatant Rear End Shunt: Penalty 2 Places
The victim made no mistakes and was driving their normal line at normal speed. The shunter made no allowance for the victim whatsoever. The shunter was in full control."

Server replay time: 0h09m20s

Ross rejoins the track and collides with Hannah.
From Hannah's perspective Ross was off the track, he slowed slightly and then Ross just drove into his side with no opportunity for Hannah to avoid the collision. From the other perspective Ross did initially wait but appears to have bogged down in the grass whilst doing a rejoin. He probably could not hear Hannah approaching due to his revving to get out but a glance to the right would have shown the approaching car.
The rules have this;
"Blatant Bad Rejoin: Penalty 2 Places
The rejoining driver was NOT in full control but nevertheless attempted to drive straight back onto the racing line without any consideration for other drivers and contact was made."

However allowance needs to be made for the fact Ross did, initially, try to ensure it was safe to rejoin. When he found himself struggling he should then have done another check but that is easier said then done in the heat of the moment.
Under the circumstances I am going to reduce the penalty to a warning.

Great add for this track but I wish I had known about it earlier. Just tried it but find it off putting at this late stage. Worth a try if anyone had not seen it.

I'm in the late stages of a cold - my nose is currently dripping like a tap and I keep having sneezing fits.
As I'm not being payed/sponsered I think I'll pass  ninja

I've just spent the last hour doing the Albi Mod for Pro's (should go up tomorrow) with wads of tissue paper stuck up my nose so I could look down at my notes aswell as type  Grin

I just did a couple of laps and it reminds me very much of Jarama, just shorter. I tried my Jarama setup and it worked quite well straight out of the box. With a few gear ratio and camber changes it was quite nice, so if you have a Jarama setup, give it a go.

Just embarrassing really. Got a good start but v cautious and then span at T2 on the second lap and engine blew getting back on. Couldn't reset for a while and then toodled round and let Geoff and Mike T go. Then whilst trying to let Bernie through I caught him by surprise as to how slow I was and he unceremoniously flipped me. Six laps more than I thought though.

Should have practiced. Like H it reminds me of Jarama and I HATE that track.

Sorry to Bernie - guess you got the PC working Wink

You put me under a lot of pressure after the start, Joe! My advice would be though that you're more patient and don't push the car that much until it warms up (tires, engine), otherwise it bites you off as you have just experienced. I was hoping you would understand what I was doing by going a bit slower - wanted to get tires gradually up to temp instead of rapidly, it really helps later on, as well as let the oil temp build up slowly, it's important in the Honda. Shame you retired though, it could've been a good fight! I'll write more later maybe, though there's nothing much to say for what happened after you and Tom retired (except that I lapped Evil!  Grin).

Ironically I was actually taking care not to rev the engine so much, just one of those unfortunate faliures really I suppose.

Congrats on the win though.  Smiley

50/50 on that one Paul , though it was a suprise to find you slowing there , I hit you so appologies mate , didnt realise you left for home .

Got the PC sort of sorted OK but only the 67 cars at the mo , having trouble getting the 65's and other mods to load up , using win Zip but it tells me there is a fault running the instal exe thingy . Not seen your files yet as been out most of the day wetting babies bottoms  Roll Eyes

As for the race , I was doing OK until the screen went blank , first time I thought it was the old problem but it came back on when I hit the keypad  soon discovered after the 2nd time it blanked out , that it was the power save option shutting me down ( It was set to the default 20mins when I checked it ) so a big sigh of relief there in one respect because I was thinking maybe my monitor was goosed .

The black screens kind of spoilt my race rythm , it took me quite a while and a few offs before I could calm down and get back into race pace , somehow found myself back up to P3 ( due to others misfortunes? ) but then got a bit to excited and blew my chances on the armco at that L.H. kink,  needing a re set and s & g , In the closing laps I found myself racing Fabio ? for P3 but made a few errors and he got the last podium place , he did earn it , so well driven chap.

Grats to Ross for a great drive,and commiserations to Ronnie. see you all soon at the next dash & crash meeting  Smiley

Results uploaded and replays to be found in the usual places. A provisional look at Privateers shows no one took more then one reset although I still need to check the stop and go's.
Any incident reports by close of play Friday please.

I wasn't expecting much at all from this event, in fact it was unlikely I was even going to be there as my wife was in labour over the weekend. In the end my second son arrived very quickly (a budding simracer perhaps?) and I decided I'd learn the track during qually and start the race if I felt I had a chance of a result.

Luckily it's a short lap and the layout is easy to learn, although any mistakes are punished severely. I noticed people were falling off all over the place and reckoned that, from eighth on the grid I might get some good points if I kept my nose clean.

The first third of the race was pretty mental, as expected there were spins aplenty which allowed me to get into the top four until I made some errors of my own. At one point Ronnie lapped me but then struggled to pull away, not sure what was going on, engine trouble perhaps? Then he pulled off track and let me back past.

The rest is a bit of a blur as there was no time to look at Prib, so I just told myself, if you don't make any more errors you could still win this. Heading into the latter stages Fabio was leading from the recovering Ronnie who still didn't have his earlier pace, but we were both closing in on the leader. I passed Ronnie and then Fabio ran wide a few laps later, leaving me with a few more laps to reel off before the flag.

I'm delighted to have picked up a win as I'd not slept properly the night before and it's a tough track, but I think I was lucky my rivals had some problems again. Nice to get a 1-2 for CHR with new teamie Ronnie in second.

My new son fell fast asleep when I tried to tell him all about it afterwards Smiley

Seems I have the attention span of a goldfish of late. I was the first to make a mistake just a few laps in which dropped me down the field. Steadily I fought my way up through the field and was comfortably in second place with about 20 laps to go. So what do I do? Run wide at the first corner, get a wheel on the grass, lose the back end, slide into the barrier and lose a wheel  Undecided. Congrats to those of you that made it to the end. I pray I'll get to the finish next time round.
