Moderator's Report

The longest lap of the Porsche Super Cup and a lovely drive through the German countryside.

Surely there is no finer setting for our intrepid racers.

Server replay time: 0h02m53s

Hristo and Tom battle for the lead on the approach to Schatten. Tom has a slight wiggle as Hristo draws alongside and then suffers a warp contact which spins him.

Warp Incident.

Several drivers decide to join Hristo and check he is OK.

They needn't have bothered though, he is fine and rejoins.
Bob, Evil and Fulvio are the caring bunch who stop while the other inconsiderate people drive past.

Moderator's Report

A different server, a different set of driver, surely this bunch of dedicated sim racers will make it through Schatten without incid...... oh.

Cookie gets it wrong under braking and tries hard to collect Nicky which he successfully does ;)
Ronnie feels jealous and joins the barn dance as does Natan, Norbert and almost Geoff.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h03m10s

What is it with Schatten and Porsches?

Martin and Jonnny get scared just by looking at it as it approaches and Martin decides a death among the trees before it might be the preferred option.

he and Jonny both lose control on the approach and their suicide pact seems complete as they spin, roll and triple salko towards a shared doom.

Well, a crash anyway.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h04m04s

Roberto is now bored of his rear wheels being so predictable in the way that they follow his front ones and decides to spice things up a little.

He manages to avoid everybody as he spins and rolls backwards, but not deterred he isn't going to let such a good opportunity slip by without causing some carnage and decides to commit holy murder on the spectators now laughing at him as he sits facing the wrong way.

Well, who's laughing now eh?

MUHAHAHAHA!

UKGPL Season 21 Porsche Super Cup
Race 6 Solitude

Race 6 in the Porsche Super Cup happens at the longest circuit of the season, Solitude, Germany.

Remember, you cannot win the race on the first lap but you can go a long way to losing it.  The driver who wins is usually the driver who makes the least mistakes.

The Solituderennen events and the 11.4 km Solitudering near Stuttgart were named after the nearby Castle Solitude. Motorsports events were held there from 1903 to 1965.  Due to the narrow track, initially mainly motorcycle events were held there until 1956. The track and the pits were widened in early 1957 and sports car racing was staged by the automobile club ADAC.  From 1961 to 1964, non-Championship Formula One Grand Prix races were also held, in addition to previous Formula 2 and Formula Junior events. The last "Grand Prix of Solitude" with F1 cars was held in July 1964, including drivers like Jim Cark, Jack Brabham, Graham Hill, Chris Amon, John Surtees. The 1964 race was won by Jim Clark in the Lotus 33. In 1965 the last "Solituderennen" on the Solitude track was an F2 race, won by Chris Amon.

Hey, I was there with my father on his DKW 175ccm motorcycle Grin
As we were great Motorcycle fans, our main interest was on John Surtees, who had just switched to F1.
We were sitting in a forrest around the last corner Cool

Even if I was there in real life, my knowledge of this GPL track is new.
Maybe it would help a little if one of the UKGPL servers could be there....

Greetings

I was Hosting a practice session as well yesterday night. We were 3 o 4 comprised Tristan Bot and Andrea Tendas.
We have no reference times about Porsches so it is a little hard to judge if a guy is faster or not.

You've had a practice session up a couple of times. Sadly, myself, Baab, Martin Hunt and (I think) Roberto are all unable to connect - I've ended up hosting races. Not sure what the issue is - just never makes the connection, so no error message to report.

Uhm...strange thing. Are you behind a router or a firewall ? If so, ensure to have the correct ports suitable for GPL opened (like I've done) and all would be fine, otherwise there is not reason why someone can connect and some others cannot.

Could we have some clarification from the moderators on the penalties for possible corner cutting at this track. In particular the back section can be shortened by straight lining the twisty bits in many places (ie all four wheels off track). Am I right in thinking this is not allowed and will be penalised?

Mike might have specific comment/rules for this particular track but the general rules on Corner Cutting are here.
"Corner cutting can be identified as placing all four wheels off the track surface."

I don't think there is any place on the track that you will actually gain an advantage if you cut with all 4 wheels.

Yes, as Tim has said, Corner Cutting is covered in the rules so anyone regularly placing all 4 wheels off the track risks a penalty at the moderators discretion, irrespective of any advantage gained.

It is usually done to gain an advantage, even if it doesn't always work, but anyone doing it regularly will be in big, big, big, big trouble.

It can also mean those behind get a yellow flag too.

So if I someone keeps making a mistake each lap and cuts a corner they'll get a penalty? That would be a bit ridiculous as it should only be for gaining an advantage...
