I'm thinking it was more then bad luck. More like dumb luck on my part. I realized right before the start that I never tried the pitlane so I went into the pits and right at the speed limiter point is when I CTD. This was my exact problem I had at Brno's pre season race. So I'm thinking that the advanced garage is at fault because I did have the advanced garage for my old massive add-on GTR2 install. I'm just glad it doesn't sound like anyone else had this problem. So if you are planning on running the advanced garage please beware of this and practice before the race start Roll Eyes to make sure all is OK. Good thing is other than this race I don't think at the other tracks I will need the taller gearing that advance garage provides. Cheers Wink

Never had troubles with the advanced garage menu, since I've been start to use it maybe 2 or 3 years ago. No CTD or something similar... Strange thing that of the CTD right at the speed limiter point, but really don't know what to think mate Sad

About my race, it was quite boring during the first 13-14 laps, in which I had only few fights with MJ and maybe Lazlow if I remember well.
Last laps were a bit more interesting, even if Dallara suffered a lot to keep the speed of the preceeding car also when I was exploiting the trail (and I was driving with both front and rear wings setted on 1). I guess I had a great braking battle with TT, but I had to give up 2 or 3 laps before the end, when I was really near the limit of car control going into the sand at the first corner of the motodrom. TT passed me easily even in the external line in that corner, and I was a bit "furious"  Angry about it, but I couldn't do anything better to defend my position.
With only one lap to go I spun at the last corner, breaking front wing-suspention and all the "unuseful" pieces of my car Grin, resisting til the last corner when my car spun again Sad... so I've lost other 2 positions at only 200 meters to the checkered flag. It wasn't my night, but at least I wasn't last at the end... very small consolation Undecided

I bet to be more competitive in Hungaroring... or better... I hope so Wink

I guess in the Ferrari i should have been right up there! Hmm so maybe my 1.50 before the race was a bit out! I had been running 20-20 wing so realising everyone was running lot lower decided to drop it to help with the top speed to 15. However in the slower stuff i do struggle so was kinda glad for most of race i was on my own as a few mistakes crept in. Couldnt keep up with Jamera annoyingly but was just trying not to push at all as i struggle when the tyre wear increases.

And so we go to a completly opposite track then, assuming its not to disimiliar to the modern hungaroring.

How does the ballasty thingy work?
will the server apply it, what about offline testing?

I use a tool called GTR2 Manager which allows pre-determined weights to be applied to particular driver names. When a driver joins, their ballast weight will be added automatically. It is then visible in the "Timings" section in game.

I'm uncertain whether the weight will be applied immediately for the session into which a driver enters. From my limited testing I believe it is applied when the session moves onto the next, which might be a problem if drivers join during quali....ie their ballast won't be applied until race which will obviously put them at an advantage in quali  Undecided

I'll need to see what happens when we hold a practice session probably late Monday and decide what's best.

As for how it affects the cars, it will slow you down by approx 1.5 to 2 secs a lap depending on circuit and cause some degree of increased tyre wear. It will be most noticeable accelerating out of slow corners and under braking. The handling in the corners will be more sluggish but in my tests it didn't hurt the balance and the cars still felt good.

For rough offline testing, I'd stick the equivalent amount of fuel in although I don't expect it will have exactly the same effect.

What a race, really enjoyed that! I was in a right state when I finished. sweatdrop

If I had to pick one word to sum it up, I'd go for: Intense!

Great to see Team Oldie topping the Team Championship Grin (though Blunder needs to start pedaling his Williams a bit faster, I think that's 1-0 to me mate & Frank Williams is keeping his eye on you Wink)

I look forward with interest, to seeing the ballast start to kick in @ Hungaroring. Should be fun Cool

The server's running Hungaroring atm but not with GTR2 Manager. I'll give Matt a bit of time to post the Cadwell results and then restart with ballast so maybe a few could hop on to try it.
