Formula One 1988 Season 2 (U15F1) Sign Up Thread

The first 2 spec races of this series have allowed the faster drivers the opportunity to get some points on the championship table. It has also allowed me to gather data for the remainder of the season which will be a repli of the 2nd half of the RL championship of 1988. Races will be half length RL with 1 full length GP at Monza88.

There will be a success ballast system which is designed to create close racing and prevent anyone from dominating the championship. This will take effect following the results of Round 3 Hockenheim.

Please choose a car to drive for the remainder of the season which corresponds to your driver rating number or higher. Please state your particular car choice along with the driver name you will be using. No car swapping this season please.

New drivers are welcome to join and will be allocated an appropriate choice of car upon request in this thread.

WEIGHT/SUCCESS BALLAST:

1st   60kg
2nd  50kg
3rd  40kg
4th  30kg
5th  20kg
6th  10kg

Weight ballast is cumulative up to a maximum of 120kg. Weight will be added based on drivers' finishing positions in the previous two rounds they have taken part in.

I guess with a choice of 1 team i'll go with the Ferrari then! Though i was eyeing up a decent handling car like the williams or lotus. I was actually enjoying the AGS last night.

There's nothing stopping you choosing anything else mate. From the announcement:

"....your driver rating number or higher."

Once the ballast sytem comes into play it will substantially mix things up anyway, so choose a car you're comfy in.

Err I read it as higher in the list not neccesarily a higher number car so i only had the maclaren or ferrari to choose from. Thats not right then?

Yes mate, your number or higher so effectively anything except the McLaren. Anytime before your next race is ok but it is first come first served.

im still sitting on the fence a bit with this and not sure if its for me.  What car would you recommend i take considering my complete lack of track time with this mod (albeit harassing Legzy hard in my first event  ) ferrari, Ligier or a lotus?

Your driver rating is 3 MJ so the fezza (rated 1) is off limits for you. The Ligier is rated 3 while the Lotus is a 5 (the lower the number the stronger the car). Personally I'd go for the Ligier as it handles well and has good top speed.
