Many Congrats Dyno and to us on the team championship.

Not much to say really, first race of any kind in about a month. Started from pole on a one stop stategy which went to pot after being rear ended  Undecided Got heavy rear damage car was all over the shop. Pitted half expecting to be out but the car wasn't too bad aferwards. Only thing was I was 40 seconds behind the field and still had to make another pit stop. Took it easy middle stint to go a full tank. Then stopped for half a tank with 35 to go. Put in steady 43s to catch Dave but rears were then shot and after a quick spin trying too hard to put the power down and ran out of time to attack again.

Sorry to see you go out Jamie. Saw the replay  :'(

Thanks guys, it's only taken me 4 years to win my first SRouk Championship.  Cool  With the NTM pending it will probably be my last.  Grin

Action packed race!  Well it was for those around me. Roll Eyes  I just had to race my own race and try to do consistent lap times on worn tyres.  Luckily it was enough in the end to hold off David with his 2 stop strategy.

Unlucky Paul, good to see both you and Bernie back racing with us.  Hope to see you both full-time next season.

Unlucky Jamie, it was shaping up to be quite a race between us.  :'(

P.S.

Well done Legends for the DP Team Championship.  clap

Congrats on 2nd Team Shark Wink

I have a new found respect for the Stang drivers after that one! For me, being lapped is a lot tougher than doing the lapping and often relies totally on trust that the person behind won't go for that gap unless there's enough time to make it stick. Really good fun though, and the couple of moments where a DP appeared as we were already two wide added some welcome spice to procedings!

A race of two halves that one! Thought I had some reasonable speed and felt comfortable putting the times in without hurting the tyres too badly. After running half a second away from each other for God knows how many laps, changing places occasionally when DP's messed with the rhythmn (not bitter  Grin), I still couldn't work out whether Raimo was really pushing or whether he was just running down the clock for a bit.

Still together at lap 30, we both pitted with me leading by a waffer thin mint, just as the lack of grip was starting hurt the lap times. Darting out of the pits content with the fact I'd extended my lead - I soon realised I'd not taken on any juice! Gutting. 10 seconds up the road in absolute cruise mode and suddenly the race turns totally on it's head.

Exiting the pits I was 10 secs away from Pops who was with Rob and a further 20 seconds away from Raimo. At this point it was already looking bleak, but I had 40 mins to go and even a minor moment by Raimo could give me the remote possibility of retaking the lead. I bust a gut trying to make up the time and while I managed to stick in fastest lap, it wasn't massively faster than I was doing before I starting caning the tyres so was very much short term gain and left me with bugger all rear grip by the time I got on to the back of the squabbling Pops and Master Burton.

Had a good dice with Pops and finally pipped him at Priory with an arse out moment as I tried to get my nose ahead before Luffield - thankfully he obliged, and next was Rob. Have to say mate, that was some really good defending and great close racing all round. I don't know how long it went on for but I think we drove most corners side by side and I don't think there was even any paint swapped, really good stuff! Oh yeah, I can't believe you did a Jenson on me at Stowe you git  Tongue.

Anyway - looking at the numbers beforehand I thought I'd made a mistake signing up for two hours of this but thanks to Raimo, Rob and Pops that was a thoroughly enjoyable night's racing.

Grats to Raimo, you are basically a machine aren't you! Barely any mistakes - just a shame we didn't get a nailbiter at the end but who knows, maybe we'll meet again in Acuras/ GT40's Smiley.

With any luck I'll be able to make more of next season's races - thanks as always to Mr. Parle, keeping the Enduro flag flying!

Oh and grats to Darren on the title - well earned bud, been putting in some quality performances for quite some time now, well deserved.

Last but not least - thought I'd share a momento of the occasion...  Grin

Bit of a damp squib for me in the end, despite putting in a few practice hours. The day started badly when the 5am Grand Am Premiere series failed to go official, followed by the 8am and 11am races (not that I expected those to), which left me only the 2pm race as a workable slot. That fell apart when my PC rebooted 16 laps in to add insult to the injury of being bundled off after 5 laps, so I wasn't in the best frame of mind for this race.

Spent ages trying to get the car set up the way I wanted it but in the end I just couldn't get comfortable and couldn't even match my old PB (I think I've chooped at least half a second off my PBs everywhere else this season). I could only hope that both Jove and Darren would come to grief, and with no other Sharks in class the team championship looked to be a lost cause too. Sad

Managed to eek away from Bernie but the rest of the DPs pulled away and the only glimmer of hope was Paul and David stopping before the fuel window for a one stopper. I pushed as hard as I could and my stop was perfect, but so was Darren's and afterwards he continued to pull away. Paul was a fair way behind after his extended stop but catching fast, and David had stretched the gap out to almost exactly a stop ahead - which he promptly demonstrated by coming out 4 seconds ahead of me, albeit well behind Darren.

That just left Paul to worry about - he was closing fast, and as at the end of my first stint my rears were going off quite badly. I made the surprise discovery that my brake balance was on 49% front and made an immediate correction to 50% which took the edge off the car under braking, but Paul was still homing in until, to my huge relief, he lost it on the exit of Priory giving me just enough breathing room to grab a final podium.

Congratulations to Darren on a well-deserved championship, and to the Leg Ends for the team title. thumbup1

As expected no chance to turn up for this race as the in-laws arrived around 5:30pm.

Well done to Darren and, oh me Wink, on the driver titles and the Legends (spit Tongue) and, oh Team Shark Wink, on the team titles.

I'm looking forward to the LMP2 next season although I don't expect to be fighting for the title in that car, it'll be a stellar change from the whale I've driven this season. Smiley

Thanks to Adam for organising and hosting the series.

I'm not surprised. In a series with so few people, increasing the race length to 2 hours and 24 minutes at one of the most boring circuits was only going to be a turn-off (it was for me as I had no interest in getting up at 8am to race at the back with probably only 3 or 4 other cars in the same class for that length of time).

What a great race that turned out to be!

Got a great start beating Pops at 1st corner to get myself into 3rd place in class. Managed to keep it together but Raimo and James were pulling away, with Pops close by behind me.

I think i saw James pit quite earlier than some of us, problem I had was some laps I was fast and others Pops would catch me up. I was thinking of pitting when Pops was about to enter pitlane, and I just managed to sleek in ahead of him so he didnt get the undercut.

Pops pitstop took lot longer I was now clear by about 8secs, when again he seemed to reel me down, now with James close behind with about 20mins to go, It was a very hard Job of holding on to 2nd place. We were side by side for some laps as well. Eventually James got past me, and I was holding on to the gap of about 5secs when coming across the finish line just ahead of Pops.

Great race all, some lovely points, nice clean racing from me too I hope, pity it was last race of the season  Grin

Probably one of the best races, in terms of battles and excitement I had for long time in Iracing..

Even though I missed the last couple of races I just wanted to say I've had an epic season here. I think even with the lower turnouts it was more fun than the previous season, almost every race I had great battles and DP traffic was always awesome! Thanks a lot to Adam for organizing and everyone else for racing. Looking forward to the next one! w00t
