Well, I feel like a prize idiot after that performance. The March was a dream to drive, I was surprisingly competitive though that was probably due to a lack of ballast. I qualified 2nd, harried Jubei for a while, passed him and was leading for about 10 laps. Then came lap 14, when I made the schoolboy error of applying too much power out the chicane. That mistake forced me into the gravel and I found myself beached  Undecided. I stalled the engine trying to get out, red faced after going so well beforehand. Always next race I suppose.

1st race on a track with corners, and the Arrows performed well. Quite high front tyre wear with my setup
but I can't drive a loose setup with this beast, so has to be. Had someone to race most of the time
I was a bit faster than Legzy and Martin with fresh tyres and a bit slower with worn ones
I was right up behind Jubei at one point but then did something silly somewhere and dropped back
tried to follow Martin up to the end, but didn't quite have the pace.
Good racing.

Morning guys...

Shame you can't see me skipping round the office this morning!!  Grin
Really pleased with second!
Sounded like tyre wear might be an issue so did a long run in practice to test a one stop strategy and all looked good!
Kept it all clean, made no errors! and was surprised not to be caught in the later third of the race.
Even managed to do my pit stop without issue! Although it sounds like I was very slow at that!
So slow that I came out in front of Legzy!! Smiley
Tyres were a struggle for the last two laps but was not under pressure so dropped the pace off.

Thanks to all those who moved over for me when being lapped! Not sure I would have been so observant!

Thanks all, great fun / race

I feel like an idiot too after last night's race. I qualified well, managing to avoid spinning, then come the race start, I spin at the hairpin and lose one place. Then on the second lap I spin again at turn 2, which I haven't done all the way through practice and qualifying. Unlike Lewis I don't manage to recover without hitting someone. I waited until I thought everyone had gone through, but Purdie came round just as I moved off. Sorry Purdie... Then, trying to get back to the pits I get beached on exactly the same spot as Samb will on lap 14. Ah well. See you guys on the 23rd.

A very enjoyable night's racing. Don't know how you guys remember so much detail in your race reports, my brain was filled to capacity just coping with the race let alone storing it for later recall.

I paced myself gaining places as others made mistakes and managed to keep my tyres in good shape for when I needed to call on them. Had a nice little battle with Manteos, which was just about to get very intense when he lost it... a relief but also a shame as it would have been very close.

After my pitstop and with about 10 to go I was in 5th but being reeled in by Spanner. In my desperation to get the power down, I spun it coming out of the penultimate turn, my first real mistake of the race. That unsettled my concentration and I had a couple of scrappy laps including another spin at the Lewis chicane  Hit with a wet fish

Overall very pleased with 6th and still enjoying the challenge that is the luvverly EuroBrun  Smiley

No worries mate, I watched the replay but I couldn't avoid you really. If I hadn't run wide before I would have been 20 secs up the road anyway!

Hope to see you at Spa.....

That will be a corker!  Smiley

What happens with the ballast now, I was carrying 50KG for this race, do I keep that now for the rest of the season?

I have no issue with it, but how is this ballast worked out? why does Legzy get 60 me 40 and Martin B 50
when Martin finished in front of myself and Legzy, and I got the fastest lap of the 3 of us.... Huh
And did I have ballast in that race already?

Ah that's it, RTFM  laugh  Wink

Actually it's in post #1 here......

What a tough track this was. Almost no time to rest at all. In practice I got to a 1:28 lap pretty quick in practice but then seemed to hit a plateau that was hard to break through after that. Seemed to be stuck in the 28's until late into final practice when I was finally able to break through into the 26's. Problem was everyone else got faster too. For the race I was at least comfortable enough to think that I would be able to make it without too much trouble and hoped that just finishing without any spins would result a good finish. Had some good dices with Tom and Manteos for a short bit. After around 11 laps I was on my own for awhile when I noticed someone coming fast. Not sure what problem he had to be back there but I wasn't planning on putting up too much of a fight because I knew he would be much faster. Unfortunately that was not too be as when getting through turn ten I was just barely tapped unintentionally. Problem was it was one of those moments when the car was right on edge so the small tap sent me into the wall which knocked both front and rear wings off. I went to the pits and tried to get the damage fixed but after waiting forever and at least a full minute behind the next to last runner Jamera I decided I had enough of this track.

Yea sorry about that Navin Embarrassed I find it really hard driving close behind people with this mod because the cars are always dancing about in front of me and I always seem to get lag when I'm up close. I know it's no consolation, and I'm sorry for the tap.

I went for a 2 stop strategy last night which put me out of sync with everyone else, which wasn't the right call. Trying to get past slower people after my first stop was a challenge to say the least...all though it was fun Cool

Next time I need to try and drive a more conservative race....shame, because I love throwing these cars around.

Don't give it another thought Lazlow Cool. I've very fortunate for a long time in that "racing deal" thing. To be honest I was on an opposite strategy trying to see how far I could go on the hard tires with maybe one stop late for softs. So I was rather slow at that point being still heavy on fuel and just getting some unwanted understeer at that point with the hard tires. One of those things when 2 strats merge at the wrong time/place etc. We'll get'em next time Wink

I had a high tyre wear myself and the car was undrivable after just a few laps. Or maybe I was impatient and was driving too hard into the corners. Or maybe this is the result of the "success" ballast. Anyway, had to go for the 2 stopper but saw I was gonna get behind everybody after the 2nd stop so I tried to hang in. Bad decision, couldn't hold the pace and started making mistakes and damaged the car. Didn't have the will to drag to the pits and start over from the back. Undecided
