Moderator's Report

Spa - its quick, it's wide. The 69's have tons of grip. All we need is for drivers to be careful off the line...

Server replay time: 0h00m48s

Oh dear. Blito gets a great start through Bernie. Unfortunately Bernie spins across the track and totals poor Jonny. JB shamefacedly continues. As Bernie spins away to the other side of the track, JB is relieved that he will not see Bernie again.

Server replay time: 0h00m57s

Boba Fett is keen to assasinate somebody and after slowing decides that Blito is a criminal after that start and gives him a slap.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m50s

Boba is in killing mode again as he slides past Badblood into a wormhole but BB cannot control the stargate as it closes and spins.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m58s

Geoff decides to use the hedge to slow down at Malmedy which is not recommended but effective. His use of cloaking technology by throwing up dust completely foxes Mr Fett who drives straight into the Aussie at full pelt.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h02m08s

Cookie blows an engine and in trying to slow down spins back onto the track where an unfortunate Vos is unable to avoid him. Vos doesn't notice for a few seconds that he only has three wheels but eventually admits the inevitable and resets.

Server replay time: 0h02m25s

Jason is happy to see Bernie again and goes across to see him. Unfortunately he wipes him out (again). At least it isn't lap 1... actually, it is but Jason has already picked up something for Lap 1 and Jason couldn't see Bernie...

Server replay time: 0h02m35s

Goran makes a mistake at Masta and is slow out. Ronnie senses a chance but Goran takes an odd line and squeezes Ronnie against the grass. RP pulls back in to the middle and the two touch. It was unfortunate and one or other needed to yield but Goran should really have kept to the left to leave Ronnie some room.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h02m48s

After the cartwheels Goran resets and powers away... straight into Ronnie who resets in front of him. Unavoidable. Unlucky on Ronnie who mutters something about Swede and Turnips under his breath...

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h03m45s

Jason is not having the race of his life and loses it under braking taking out several houses and a Belgian farmer or two. Vos is getting quite good at picking up the spinners and sure enough hits the stricken JB. Once again he drives away but with only three wheels. Amazingly he makes it to the last turn of the lap which is impressive. He then buries the car nose first into the hay bales which is less impressive. He resets and takes his medicine and as a very good boy he also takes his second stop on Lap 2 to show the rest how it should be done.

Moderator's Report

Nice and wide and we all have a feel for it now in Race 2. Surely we will all get away nice and clean second time of asking...

Server replay time: 0h00m54s

Fabio gets a good run on Aulden but Aulden cannot know Fabio is there as he is never visible in the mirrors. Aulden takes the groove and Fabio does not hold a really tight line. The inevitable happens.

This was over ambitious and you can't win a race on lap 1...

Server replay time: 0h01m00s

Geoff hits Aulden. Aulden car jumps across the track straight into Geoff's path and although he lifts and tries to go inside he does not have enough time. Unfortunate.

Server replay time: 0h01m01s

Fabio resets into the path of Du Fossa who is left with nowhere to go.

On the face of it this is a bad reset but it was reasonable to expect that the field would have passed so I think this has to be seen as unfortunate.

What is less unfortunate is that Fabio and Du Fossa stack up a number of resets between them on Lap 1 and Fabio takes only one Stop'n'Go and Du Fossa forgets to take any.

Drivers MUST take a Stop'n'Go for each reset taken.

The Moderator made it quite clear that failure to take the necessary Stops would result in DQ

Server replay time: 0h04m00s

Badblood spins late on in the lap and is rejoining on a blind corner. Unfortunately Fabio can't see round corners and approaches at high speed sliding wide into the almost stationary BB. Bad luck for both of them although neither did anything wrong here.

Server replay time: 0h12m18s

Juha takes an unusual line through Masta and Ronnie thinks he can nip through - he can't.

Server replay time: 0h16m40s

Ronnie is glued to Hristo's tail. Unfortunately when Hristo has to slow for Sky he finds himself in Hristo's cockpit...

Round 7 promises to be another speed fest with the 69 cars at Spa. PLEASE NOTE WE ARE USING THE ORIGINAL 1969 MOD – not the revamped 69X. Based on previous discussions there were a few drivers whose PC’s were not capable of running the new Mod. The original 69 Mod physics has notorious drafting which can be exploited on the long straights at this classic Belgian circuit.

Just in case you missed it this series is now subject to Disqualification if drivers fail to take a compulsory Stop & Go following every Reset / Shift R. A 30 Sec penalty will apply to resets on the last lap.

I shall be away on me hols for this one so your Master of Ceremonies is Badblood.

Your choice of chariot is the Brabham BT26 & the Lotus 49.

In the last race at Mexico the 66 cars proved to be a winner for Evil, taking the chequered flag in both races. Other podiums went to Hristo, Goran & Sam. In the table Evil leads from Natan & Hristo.

Spec Racing the format is a little different from other divisions. There will be two Intermediate Short Races, back to back on the same track. For each event there are two chassis available and you should drive both cars - anyone daft enough to use the same car will be disqualified for Race 2. Start with whichever chassis you like.

There is no handicapping all participants will run in one division.

Unlimited resets are allowed but every Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.
In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation on lap one.
Also please note that qualifying runs are limited to 15 minutes – the clocks starts ticking when the server goes up so doesn’t wait around.

OK - where do I have to be brave. Went out and did a tentative lap - 3:38. Kept my foot down where I could and went 12 seconds faster but I STILL need ten to be competetive. Maxing out at about 182 in the Lotus. How much more is there for that chassis and how do you get it?

Everywhere Paul!!!! I'm still in my early learning curve with these cars let alone the new 69 mod. Running around at 3.23 in Brab and Lot at the moment. I got down there by being braver at Stavelot and the La Carriere complex (the two right bends). Nowhere near flat out through Masta kink yet and Eau Rouge is a bit hit and miss.  As for set up I'm a bit lost in these beasts. I tried Steve cloyds setup but they just do not suit my style at the moment but worth a go for comparison with your own? For me these cars offer more grip than I'm used to feeling, so I can theoretically turn in later but its hard to get used to. Hopefully one of the real speed demons will pass on some pearls.

Cheers buddy. Get the point about grip but sometimes feels like I am driving ON pearls. If you don't improve too much we might even have a race... I'm three secs shy of you but knowing you I shall only see you as you breeze past a lap up Wink

I haven't practiced yet, but judging from a race we had a couple of months ago at Monza10k, you don't really benefit from running no wings or low wing angle in terms of achieving better top speed. Sure, you gain some 3-4 km/h or something, but that's far outweighed by your loss of downforce during cornering. I will probably use Masta as my guideline for setting up the wing angles, with the aim to be able to take it flat out without the car scrubbing off too much speed. Another corner which should be flat in these and could be used as a reference point is that long fast right-hander after Les Combes.

Just done a couple of exploratory laps in both cars and set a best of 3:23..... guess thats not too competitve around here so looks like BB and I could have a good battle for last place Cheesy

This is where I am losing all my time I think. I end up going too tight and scrub off LOADS of speed - end up down at 125-130 mph or so. Every time I try to be brave I hit the end of the wall on the left...

i have no idea where I'm losing speed but then again I've only done two laps, one in each car, and both times on a default setup with 10 Gallons of fuel....

Watch a replay from GPLRank, the line through that corner is essential for how much speed you can carry into the next left-right-left sequence of corners.
