Moderator's Report

Turn 1 Lap 1 was a bit tricky but otherwise a generally clean race. As previously announced failure to take a Stop & Go following a Reset is a breach of the rules & subject to a Disqualification.

Server replay time: 0h01m02s

Juha takes some grass exiting turn 1, as does the following Clive. This concertinas the pack. Fulvio closes up quickly & moves right to give Clive room but the cars touch wheels. No real fault by either party. The following incidents were all a result of the initial tangle between Clive & Fulvio.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m23s

Fulvio literally goes airbourne. At 200 feet he gets dizzy & forgets the Reset has to be followed by a Stop & Go.

After the speedfest of Spa in the 69s we hop over the border to Germany and head for Hockenheim, this time in the 65s.

Back to back wins for Natan sees a three way scrap at the top between him and the Waza brothers, Hristo and Evil. Super Swede Goran Jonsson isn't out of it either as we head towards an exciting finish to the season.

Spec racing the format is a little different from other divisions. There will be two Intermediate Short races, back to back on the same track. For each event there are two chassis available and you should drive both cars - anyone daft enough to use the same car will be disqualified from race two. Start with whichever chassis you like.

There is no handicapping all participants will run in one division.

Unlimited resets are allowed but each one must be followed by a stop and go in the pit lane. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. If you reset on the last lap a thirty second time penalty will be awarded.

Incidents should be reported in the usual way. In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation on lap one.

Also please note that qualifying runs are limited to 15 minutes – the clock starts ticking when the server goes up so don't wait around.

To get you in the mood for Hockenheim here's highlights of the 1982 German Grand Prix-

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8109537.stm

Famous mainly for the punch thrown by Nelson Piquet after he was taken out when lapping Eliseo Salazar. Not that we want to see any fisticuffs on Friday gents.

We don't have access to UKGPL3 whilst BadBlood is on holiday, so if you'd like to host some practice sessions Cookie, that would be great.

Not that Clive needs it, he drives the Lotus a lot when SHE isn't looking laugh

No probs from me Fulvio.  Smiley

It was a pure racing incident as far as I am concerned.
I think Juha ran a little wide onto the grass and naturally slowed on the exit of T1.
I had taken a wide line through T1 staying to my side of the track from the start and was carrying more speed.

I think you were following my line and when I had to ease off to avoid Juha you had nowhere to go. Undecided

I think you deserve some points for the acrobatic display Fulvio  Grin

When I recovered I was amazed at just how many cars were scattered across the track!! but I think that there must have been more than one incident? I guess the overworked moderator will have to sort that one out.

First up thanks to Ross (and anyone who helped) for putting up with the wise cracks and getting the servers together for the races. Appreciated by those of us who do nothing but race.

Race 1 was incredible, I'm referring to Fulvio trying to leave earths atmosphere in his Lotus! After being firmly put in my place for daring to take the lead the top 3 speedfreaks headed off into the distance, grats to the podium of Hristo, Natan and Juha. For me once a fast recovering Clive caught my tow it was always going to be a tussle. We swapped places a few times in the final laps and as we entered the stadium complex for the final time side by side only one could emerge to take that 4th spot. In hindsight some contact was inevitable as we both refused to give way while trying to give each other room. Well done Clive.

Race 2 was a little messy in the stadium complex on lap 2 or 3? Apologies to the recently returned astronaut Fulvio who I did not see as I tried to avoid Natan, who I think I nudged. In the process I'm sure I hindered either Johnny or Dave on my initial return to track. Sorry guys. When I spun at T1 a few laps later I decided to park it and stay out of the way. Grats to the podium of Hristo, Clive and Steve.

After the Zzzzzzzzzzzz.......of Spa in the Historics the other week I was worried Hockenheim might prove similar. I was wrong. As expected it was a great slipstreaming speedfest of a circuit but strangely difficult to pass and make it stick.

Is it Zandvort or Laguna next?
