Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h00m45s

Arf gets away quickly at the drop of the flag and tries to squeeze between Raoni and Ronnie on the row in front of him.
He moves slightly to the right and catches Ronnie before being warped across the track where he collects Axel.
Evil tries to avoid the fun but gets caught up in it and it's every man for himself.

All eventually continue.

Arf did make a great start and although drivers should always be prepared to stay in grid formation or at least to their own side of the grid at the start, and often through T1, overtaking moves are possible, but squeezing in between the two in front of him on the run to a corner like Eau Rouge was too big a risk that definitely didn't pay off.

"On a straight, the overtaking car moves out to overtake but cuts back in too early."

Server replay time: 0h03m10s

Roberto runs wide at Stavelot and after hitting the fence he is thrown across track into the path of JonnyO whose race is ended.

Moderator's Report

Spa seems to be a Marmite track of late but love it or hate it, it usually throws up some great races here at UKGPL.

So who made Eau Rouge, Oh Rouge! and who managed to thread their high speed Porsche through Masta every time and who didn't?

Oh, and lifting for it doesn't count. ;)

Server replay time: 0h01m01s

Pedro vd Berg / Nicky Ickx / Gianni Selitto

Pedro enters Eau Rouge on the right hand side and goes onto the grass where he loses speed. Nicky who was following him closely also slows which allows Gianni to move alongside. Nicky decides to pass and moves to the left but he hits Gianni and then gets knocked into Pedro.

The contact happens on or near the centre line as Gianni was a little too far to the right, and Nicky moved a little too far to the left for his pass.

This doesn't really come under the usual rash type of move that happens at T1 as both drivers were being quite careful. As both contributed towards it by the position of their cars, it is a Contested Side by Side contact: Racing Incident.

"In a corner, after a legitimate overtaking attempt the cars end up side by side. Both drivers move over instead of staying on their own side of the track. Contact is made."

Nicky tries to recover but ends up driving the wrong way to the lowest point of Eau Rouge and makes an U-turn when he gets DQ'd by the server.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m03s

Fran Molteni / Marc Lenclen

Fran and Marc are following the action and both try to avoid the spinning cars by going to the left.

Fran would have made it but just gets clipped by Marc and spins.

Marc had little time to react and does not really move over much into Fran so it would seem harsh to punish him, especially as his car lost a wheel in all the excitement.

Angry Angry Angry THX a lot to G.Sutcliff or whatever his name is.  He must be blind , chrashed me out in T1 while I was taken care on the car in front of me , which was allready on the green .

Whats so complicated on ? : `take care at T1 during first lap´
 Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

That car on the green was me Nicky.
I was also looking out for a car on the green in front of me (Göran)
You were the one who wanted to benefit of the 1e corner.
Remind me you were on place 9, I was 7e

No hard feelings though!
Al in all it was (looking at replay) a race incident, but avoidable by you.

Greetings Pedro.

Via multiplayer clients core.ini bandwith parameters have to be => server parameters, if not clent get bandwith mismatch.

About bump up values see my previous post.

I haven't any experience about 60 fps patch on the server.
Ciao

The starting point for all this was that Hristo could only see two cars behind on UKGPL3 when I was hosting a BREASTS race last Wednesday. I have amended the patch to draw four maximum and amended the Core.ini to run at 132 (it was 100). When joining via the multiplayer screen, does the client setting take priority? I assume not.

I guess the question is - "can we bump up the values to give a fuller view" now that we all have faster connections. That would definitely be an issue for something like the Porsche Cup where the field can be bunched for quite a long time. If higher values give more warp though, that would not be good.

Also how does the 60fps patch affect things - if the server is still sending out info at the same rate then what is there to draw quicker?

I have my server often running with 60fps and allready hosted league races with Funliga GTs on it.
Its allways running with 3/84 3/132 and afaik the client should be save when he uses the bandwith patch.
I am willing to do some test runs with different values.

Now to the Spa race....

My start was good but Arf came spinning into my front, I T-boned him and flew high.
Luckily I landed on my wheels and could cross the starting line.
But my engine had got a first problem and so I was just able to follow Sky but had no power to pass in the slipstream.
Sky did great 3 laps but at les Combes he roofed his car.
I had no chance to avoid crashing into him and after that shock my engine got really worse.
My laptimes went 10 sec down and in a non team race I would have been retired. But so I went on.
Managed to do nearly 11 boring slow laps, the engine finaly exploded in la Source and I could just roll over the finish line and retired.
Sorry for Juha, who had an early end, but our steady teammate Ronnie did a great race again  Wink

Greetings
Axel

I practiced a lot for Spa, one of my favorite ciurcuits and at final my 910 I thought was nice to drive and fast at the right point.

I've had a little problem with traffic during my qualli lap and made 2 or 3 little mistakes without which maybe I shoud get below 3:30.00 but I have been happy for my qualli time as well. If you take a look at my qualli lap you will see it has been a little tricky during the last 4 corners because of slow traffic that almost made me to waste a very good lap but...it sometime happens!  Wink

After the green flag I've pushed very hard to avoid any unintentional problem with other pilots gaining 3 or 4 secs but already before the end of the 1st lap I've seen Hristo closing on me very quickly so I have thought that I would have had a difficult race. During the 2nd lap, while I was studying porsches behaviours in slipstream (mine and Hristo) waving a little bit to have an idea of the slipstream (I was thinking with little risk), just before the entry point for stavelot what it seemed to me a little risk becomes a disaster. I've heard Hristo coming very close to me but...I've lost the  sight on him. Then I've seen at left side and he was not there, I've seen in the mirror and he was not there, so I thought he was closing on me from back right and so I've moved to the left that was also a better line for the enrty to  stavelot but...Hristo was already in that point so I've hit him and both spun off. During the contact I've lost my back left wheel so the race for me was over in the point I stopped or near around that point. Fortunately for him, Hristo has recovered ending the race and loosing around ten seconds during the incident I've caused.

See you for the end of the party at...Daytona!

Firstly apologies to Axel for getting caught up in my mess, and maybe Ronnie (not sure if you were affected), didn't mean to spoil anyone's night.

I knew I would be quick off the line from practice races, and when I saw a gap between Raoni and Ronnie, who'd both started in front of me, it seemed easily big enough. I wish I had a copy of the race from my computer to back this up, as the server replay shows a much smaller gap than I recall. Sadly I got discoed 7 laps from the end as I pootled round with limited power. Very boring and frustrating evening.......

I don't blame you for going for the gap Arf, if you had made it through we would not even be discussing it, great getaway from the line by the way.

Good result for the Porsche International team despite an embarrassing exit by Juha (your still looking good for the individual top spot!) and a smoking engine for Axel (great team spirit).

Chasing the early leaders I first battled with with Steve B (he got ahead anyway when I spun avoiding Raoni returning from a trip up the embankment) and then Fulvio with whom I exchanged places several times before settling into third spot. Looking at the replay the final pass looked good to me Fulvio, but sorry the battle ended.

Despite a late spin by Steve B he held on for second and I was happy with third.

Special mention to Roberto V a true gent of a driver who took the scenic route to make way for me and Steve right at the end, not everyone would do that, thank you.

Roll on Daytona.

I'll see you there.
