Moderator's Report

Generally a well behaved Lap 1. This was a debut race for young Joseph "Miniblood" Whitfield who showed scant disregard for his elders by out-quallifying several of them. Unfortunately he also showed scant disregard for the rule about taking a Stop & Go after each Reset. As Hristo rightly reminded us in the reace thread - all the young Waza's awseome racing & all his disqualifications belong to HER.

Server replay time: 0h01m00s

Goran takes a wide line into Tarzan which gives Blito a run up the inside. Goran pulls back onto the racing line & there is minor contact with Blito. Blito was very much in Gorans blind spot but we would have expected Goran to take more care. As Blito was unaffected no penalty will be applied.

Miniblood fails to take a Stop & Go after hsi reset.

Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

Geoff takes a fast approach into Tarzan, making up a place. Ahead, Blito takes the corner slowly, it is lap 1 on cold tyres with traffic ahead so not totally unexpected. This could be a blatant rear end shunt but given Blito's cautious approach this is mitigated to simple. As a consequence Billy runs into the back of Cookie (who did stop early enough) & Du Fossa returns the compliment. These following collisons were a direct consequence of the origininal incident & were unlikley to have occurred but for the preceeding accident.

Minblood fails to take a Stop & Go after his reset.

Thanks to Paul & Ross for stepping in for the last couple of races at Mexico &  Hockenheim.

Round 9 sees a visit to Holland famous for tulips, clogs, sexy football & being flat. Zandvoort circuit has none of these – in fact I think they found the biggest hill in the whole country to build a race track. We’re on an original Papyrus track using original 1967 mod cars.

Your choice of chariot is the Brabham BT24 & the Cooper T81.

Hockenheim  saw Hristo back in top form with a double win. Natan & Evil collected seconds & there were first podium finishes of the season for both Steve Bird & Juha. In the championship table it’s getting tight with Evil, Natan then Hristo with 20 points between them. Dropped scores may start to make a big difference from now on.

Spec Racing the format is a little different from other divisions. There will be two Intermediate Short Races, back to back on the same track. For each event there are two chassis available and you should drive both cars - anyone daft enough to use the same car will be disqualified for Race 2. Start with whichever chassis you like.

There is no handicapping all participants will run in one division.
Unlimited resets are allowed but every Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane.  Failure to take a Shift R results in a Disqualification. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.
In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation on lap one.

Also please note that qualifying runs are limited to 15 minutes – the clocks starts ticking when the server goes up so doesn’t wait around.

No setups for either car ( as I have not driven them for about 5 years!!) so there might be some intense research and development taking place this evening, if I can slip under my wife's radar and get to the computer  Roll Eyes shifty

The first race was very pleasant for me, driving the Brabham !
I finished 3rd and did my personal best time with the Brabham !
During all the race, I tried to keep the contact with EvilClive but I could not make the join with his Cooper !

The second race was very difficult, driving the Cooper.
Around the 7th or 8th lap, I was 5th between Raoni and Ronnie when Ronnie tried to overtake me and we collided.
I lost 2 wheels and had to do shift-R followed by a S&G.
When I restarted from the pits, I spun just after Tarzan and made a mistake against Juha and Ross when they overtook me. I am sorry for that and It was a miracle that we didn't collide.

I restarted 9th and kept that place until the finish line. But curiously, the final result penalized me with one supplementary lap and I was classified 12th  Sad  !

Dave - I'll take a look at this when the Race is moderated & adjust the position accordingly. I need to look at the Hockenheim race first. To make sure it isn't forgotten can you submit an incident report under race 2.
Thanks.

Replays have now been posted.

A couple of stand out performances:
Hristo was on fire quallifying 2 seconds faster than the 2nd place man. Perhaps he should have have turned out for the Bulgarian football team on Friday -they clearly needed some help.
Welcome to our new & youngest member Joe Whitfield aka Miniblood who has also been inaugerated into the way of the Waza. He quallified 8th & 10th on a competitive grid. He just needs to work on his consistency but I shall be having a word with his Dad about letting him stay up so late playing computer games.

I believe this might have happened if you thought the chequered flag was shown for you, but instead it was being shown for the leader. I noticed at the end of race two how Blito and Ronnie in front of me (or maybe just Ronnie) probably just saw the flagman appear before they crossed the line, because he appears a bit earlier when the leader approaches the line, and they went off into T1 as if the race was over for them, but they actually had to do one more lap. Did you park it a lap too early perhaps, Rainer? I once did that at Albi and lost 2nd place or something, lol.

A little annoyed at not finishing higher in race one, but I had a lot of problems with overheating the front left tyre and eventually spun, letting Raoni and Natan past. I'd enjoyed a good battle with Raoni before that, he was clearly quicker but passing is not easy here.

In the second race I had a dire time in qually with the Coop but a decent start got me into the top ten. After the lap one kerfuffle I was running around on my own until Juha caught me late on. He was much quicker but I took the inside line for Tarzan a few times to fend him off. Then on the last lap I went wide at turn four and let him past which was a shame, but it was a good battle Juha Smiley

Well done to Miniblood who has speed and just needs to cut out the errors, at this rate he will be coaching his Dad, not the other way around Smiley

Also respect to Hristo, who is normally at the front, but the margin this time was huge, an great performance in both races.

The layout of this track lead to some very close racing (too close at times maybe, sorry Jason and Dave) with few passing opportunities. But but still great fun and I really enjoyed the battle of wits with Jason in race 1 and Dave in race 2. On the subject of race 1 Hristo, me and Jason both knew we had another lap to go and were still battling for position, sorry if you got caught up in our scrap at turn 1 on the final lap on the way to your win. Looking forward to Laguna Seca.

No, I had already finished, but you two gave me the impression of parking it at T1 and were not hurrying up to continue your last lap, so I was convinced you though you had taken the chequered flag already.  Grin

Sorry we ruined your celebration lap with our racing lap Grin

I've quit doing a celebration lap long ago, mostly because I'm tired after the race distance and because I rush to check my tire temperatures and fuel, to correct if needed for the next time I race the same car/track combination.  Tongue

My celebration now consists of raising arm and revving up the engine a few times.  Roll Eyes

No I didn't.

it is not related to the last lap :
6 or 7 laps before the end of the race, suddenly Pribluda indicates me I was only 14th, although a few seconds before I was 9th and no cars overtook me.

I think GPL sometimes disqualifies some laps... for example at mexico, if you cut through the tyres at the chicane...  Its possible that you had a wrap or simply went offroad for too long, causing you to skip a checkpoint, disqualifiyng the whole lap and sending you lap down... I believe only the papy tracks have these checkpoints. Im quite sure i saw them in a .ini somwhere...

We disable checkpoints on the servers as it does have a habit of dishing out unwarranted black flags although you are still liable to get a DQ for reversing though. It's most likely the server 'losing' you at some point.
