Moderator's Report

Congratulations to Hristo on winning the Division Championship.
Nothing reported with one lap one incident (see below).

Server replay time: 0h01m08s

On lap one Art loses control spins up onto the banking then rolls back down and ends up on the track upside down.
Being lap one this is in close traffic and consequently has a knock-on (read spinning) effect on the following; Fulvio, Evil, Juha, Sam. Luckilly none of the drivers affected had to retire as a direct result of this.

However the incident is down to a pure loss of control and, as opposed to errors of judgement, we don't normally penalise for this hence it goes down as a racing incident. It would be appropriate to give a reminder to take extra care on lap one while tyres are still cold.

Moderator's Report

Congratulations to Ronnie on winning the Championship.
We had a clean lap one but one issue regarding the Stop and Go rules (see below) along with a few reports.

Server replay time: 0h09m30s

Ronnie and Mike T are racing with Mike ahead. They approach the corner and yellow flags are clearly visible. As they round the corner Hannah can be seen spinning. A green flag is being shown AFTER the Hannah spin. The rules clearly say this;
"Drivers may not overtake any car they are racing with, until they are sure they have passed a green flag or they are sure they have passed the incident and the green flag has been taken in."

Accordingly the green flag was being waved but had NOT been passed, neither could drivers be sure the incident was cleared, therefore no overtake attempt against Mike should have been made.

Ronnie did attempt a pass up the inside (by this time Hannah was off the track) but he had no overlap at turn in and Mike could not have been expected to see the manouvre as there was so little time and he was probably concentrating on where Hannah was going.
Under the circumstances this was an illegal manouvre which also resulted in a collision, and this ruling must apply;
"Very Ambitious Overtake: Penalty 2 Places
The overtaking driver had not achieved any degree of overlap at turn-in. The overtaking driver WOULD have made the corner. Penalty for overtaking driver."

Server replay time: 0h09m54s

Dave R's engine is having a cigarrette so he pulls into the pits, stops then resets. He does not take a subsequent Stop and Go.
The rules state a Stop and Go must be taken AFTER a reset not before. What he should of done was pull up before the pits, reset then driven on and done his SnG.
Under the circumstances an advantage was gained and it must be treated as ignoring the SnG.

However I do not believe this is severe enough to warrant an Exclusion as perhaps he thought this was acceptable. Please note, for future, SnG's must be taken AFTER a reset and must be taken separately.
Under the circumstances a 30 second time penalty will be applied.

Server replay time: 0h19m46s

Dave, Martin and Ronnie are playing duelling banjo's and Ronnie has just squeezed into the lead. Ahead it can clearly be seen they are closing on a much slower car. Ronnie is obviously keen not to loose his lead but attempts to lap through a corner whereas he should have held back. The car being lapped, Hannah, was not doing anything wrong and not deliberately holding anyone up bearing in mind where they were on the circuit.

Ronnie goes to pass on the inside of the corner and there is contact. There are some addtional circumstances;
- Hannah appears to have been struggling through the corner although he cannot be said to have been completely out of control
- the server shows no direct contact but, at the trajectories they were on, contact was extremely likely to happen.

Technically this is what should apply;
"Very Ambitious Overtake: Penalty 2 Places
The overtaking driver had not achieved any degree of overlap at turn-in. The overtaking driver WOULD have made the corner. Penalty for overtaking driver."

However, I am going to mitigate the penalty down to a Warning due to the following;
- the driver ahead did not appear to be fully in control and hence took a slightly unpredicatable line through the corner (this is not to place any blame on Hannah)
- there is a slight element of warp in here

Server replay time: 0h30m22s

Dave R is approaching Hannah to lap him. It is clear DR is much faster and whilst attempting the pass he clips Hannah's rear right tyre. Similar to the above this was not the place to overtake and Hannah did nothing wrong and did not attempt to hold anyone up.

Again this is the rule that applies;
"Very Ambitious Overtake: Penalty 2 Places
The overtaking driver had not achieved any degree of overlap at turn-in. The overtaking driver WOULD have made the corner. Penalty for overtaking driver."
Apart from the fact it was a lapping situation, which in itself does not mean any greater risk should be taken merely the car being lapped should not hinder, I cannot find any mitigating circumstances.

So we head to Holland for the final race of the season. Hristo and Ronnie seem to have it in the bag in the Works and Privateers respectively but other spots are up for grabs.

The Works will run on PRO Damage and Privateers will run on Intermediate Damage with the allowance of ONE shift-R reset. No Shift-Rs are allowed in practice unless authorized by the moderator. A Shift-R (fault or not) MUST be followed by a Stop & Go. A Shift-R for tyres/fuel is not allowed. Any driver taking more then ONE Shift-R OR failing to take a Stop & Go will be disqualified from the race result.

Race List = IGOR

Time = 21:00 UK time
Track = Zandvoort
Variant = 67F1
Damage Model = Works; PRO / Privateers; INT
Qualifying time = 35 minutes. Don't start until 30 mins left on clock to allow everyone to join.
Race length = 50 minutes (laps 35)
Password: see above

Driver lists can be found on the Works or Privateers championship standings pages.
The track can be downloaded from : papy original
Add-on’s available at : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=4220

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 pm UK Time

Reserve drivers should not join the server(s) until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday). We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators. There will be FULL moderation of lap one regardless of whether you submit an incident report.

With the token system chassis strategy will be a factor. A driver must have sufficient tokens for the chassis he drives in the race.  Any driver who does not have sufficient tokens will be disqualified from the result and his tokens will be set to zero.

Chassis costs;
Lotus 20 / Eagle 17 / Ferrari 15 / Brabham 10 / Cooper 5 / Honda 3 / BRM 0

To see your current tokens hover your mouse over your total points on the Works or Privateers championship standings pages. Ten tokens will be added when you cross the start line.

There are two 67 Championships, namely Works and Privateers. The driver split will be;

Circuit Park Zandvoort is located in Burgemeester van Alphenstraat, near the town of Zandvoort in the Netherlands. The first street race was held on June 3, 1939. A real circuit was not built until after the war, based on communications roads built by the German army during its occupation in WW2. It was inaugurated on August 7, 1948. Next year the circuit hosted the Zandvoort Grand Prix. The following year, the race was called the Dutch Grand Prix, and it was included in the Formula One World Championship from 1952. It remained on the F1 calendar for 30 out of the next 34 years. In 1985, the Dutch Grand Prix was held for the last time. The company that commercially ran the circuit went out of business, marking the end of Circuit Zandvoort. A plan to save the remaining track was eventually made and Circuit Park Zandvoort was born, a 1.6 mile Club Circuit, in 1989.

Apologies to the few desperate souls I involved in my idiocy.

Ill may be back when I can finally play this s...t game

 cursing cursing cursing cursing cursing cursing cursing cursing cursing cursing

What a rotten way to end the season.....sitting pretty comfortably in 3rd, having seen off the attentions of Clive and Fulvio, and actually feeling like I was racing against both of them. Then about half way my laptop froze - I think because my sound card might be dodgy and that was the end of that.....very disappointing...

Ho Hum. Well cheers everyone, esp mods and server maintainers. See you next season.

a really hard race  Undecided  ...but I enjoyed it  Wink

I had the pole but made a slow start and Ronnie + Ross overtook me.
Then I was 3 rd during 3 or 4 laps before Ronnie and Ross collided.
So I took the lead ...but only for 2 or 3 laps  Sad

Then it was the beginning of the nightmare : I spun 2 times and it was my fault, I blown my engine and did a Stop and Go, I collided 2 or 3 times with backmarkers (the last time when I prepared myself to overtake Martin) ...

Now, I hope to be there from 1st to last race for the Season 22, but I am clearly not ready to go with the "Pros" !

Nice to finish the season with a win although I certainly wasn't the quickest out there at all.

Enjoyed a good battle in qually with Dave and Ronnie, with returnee Allan also up there in fourth. Have to admit that, with the Lotus, I was hoping for pole but you guys were too fast Smiley

The early laps were frantic, Allan got a flier and chased Ronnie whilst Dave, Sky and myself followed them. Then Allan tried to pass Ronnie into Tarzan and they hit each other, letting us through. As Dave mentioned, he kindly went off leaving me trying to pass Sky, and with the recovering Allan right up my exhaust pipes. I got Sky at Tarzan on the second attempt, would just like to thank him for racing clean and fair.

After that it was a case of building a gap, which was made easier by others falling off. It seemed like a long time to the flag but eventually it came and I could clinch second place in the points too.

Well done to champ Ronnie, who has set an incredible standard this season. I hope to go one better next time but I'm sure Dave, Allan and plenty of others will be making it very hard. Looking forward to it.

Finally, thanks to Vos for running Grads this season, I think we've all had some good racing at a nice variety of tracks.

Season 22 over for me. Chose the Cooper as it seemed the most manageable car at Zandvoort.
Would have had a reasonable by very unspectacular race apart from an oversight on lap 23. Having already been lapped I was being extra careful to give the lapping cars plenty of room. I pulled off the tarmac to allow Martin past without realising Dave Ranier was in hot pursuit & I drifted back into his path. Sorry but I genuinely didn't know the other car was there. In future I think I'll stay on the track - may make it slightly longer for the lappers to pass but will be more predictable.

Substandard qualifying for me, had trouble getting the Eagle to work. Probably just driving it too slow.
Careful start in the race, kept the other cars around me in sight after running 2 wheels in the grass at T1 and letting Bill through. Lap 2 managed to beach it on the inside of T1 after a stupid spin. Reset and s n g later, was settling in to some fair times then spun at T1 again after tickling the grass on the entry..... Huh Circulated well after that catching drivers ahead that were having their own battles with silly spins.Started catching Fabio by over .5 second a lap til lap 10 when Fabio went up the wall between Hondenviak and Tunnel Oost and ended up mid track, on his lid, blocking the entire track. Braked harder than I needed too and the car went right lodging itself in the wire mesh fence. Game over. Fun while it lasted and stayed on server watching the titanic battles going on up front. Congratulations on a fine win Ross, with Ray trying hard all race to bridge the gap. And despite setting the fastest lap, never seemed to be able to get close enough to attack. Grats to Martin as well for holding off a charging and very quick Dave to snare 3rd.
Thanks go to the mods, admins and especially Mike, Tim and Paul for running another top class UKGPL season. Roll on season 22.

I was really looking forward to my first race back with ukgpl for about three years.   As I only had 15 tokens, I decided to take the Brabham as I seem to be quicker with it than in the Ferrari.   I was pleasantly surprised to qualify fourth.   I got a good start and followed Ronnie down the inside into Tarzan and emerged in second place.   I followed him for several laps trying to get a good exit onto the straight but he seemed to be able to get the power down better there and I couldn't quite get into his slipstream.  Then I got it right and was close behind him onto the straight but I didn't gain much as the Ferrai seems to be quite a bit quicker in a straight line.  We were heading down to Tarzan and I was still close behind so I moved to the inside looking for a chance to outbrake him.  There appeared to be a big enough gap and I thought that I could get at least level with him before he reached the turn in point.   It appeared to be clean move on my screen with no contact but gpl thought differently and we both finished up the bank on the outside.   Very disappointing.  My apologies to Ronnie for ruining his race.        Several cars went through before I could get going again.   I managed to work my way back up to third, as cars ran wide, behind Sky and Ross.   They were having a great battle but the Lotus in front of me was warping quite badly and was skittering across the track in all directions.  It was difficult to make any sort of move as I could never be sure where he was on the track.    Eventually he got a good run in Sky's slipstream and outbraked him down the inside into Tarzan.   I was now on Sky's tail, trying to find a big enough gap but there was no way past.  Ross was begining to ease away so I was trying to put the pressure on hoping for a mistake as the Eagle was leaving me on the straight.   Then as we were going through the left and right after Scheivlak, the Eagle suddenly slowed.  I don't know whether Sky got slightly off line and lifted or what but I was concentrating on getting my turn in points right when I found the Eagle just in front of me.  I hit the brakes but I couldn't  avoid him and we both went off.  Sorry Sky.  My fault. I must have a look at the official replay when it appears.   I tried to get going again but got collected and pushed into the bridge just before  Tunnel Oost.   I decided that I had caused enough mayhem and retired.    Very disappointing return.  I have been racing with GBGPL for some time and haven't been involved in an accident for ages.  Sods law I guess.
Apoligies again to those that suffered.   I will try to do better next ime.

It's good to have you back Allan and it seems you were more unlucky than anything else. Warp may well have been a factor with you and Ronnie, and the incident with Sky might have been caused by me being slow out of Scheivlak in front of you both. You were certainly very quick, especially off the line Smiley Hope to see you next season, and we are running some fun races soon so stay tuned.

I was surprised to read that my car was warping a lot in front of you, I did notice the red bars a little high at times so perhaps I had some connection issues. Would like to hear from Sky if he found the same.
