Moderator's Report

Season 21 comes to a final end here, at Crystal Palace.
Hristo managed to storm of into the distance and score a convincing win - which also managed to secure him the championship (at last ;) )

The mid-field were having a somewhat more interesting time of it however with several scraps running through the race. Goran and Clive were so busy fighting each other for the 2nd spot that they allowed FMG to sneak past them and claim it for himself with 14 laps to go.
After the dangerous duo had dusted themselves down, they eventually reached the flag with Clive taking the bottom step and Goran in 4th not very far behind.

Clutch was the final finisher in 5th with some setup issues - but it was still enough to secure him 3rd in the overall championship standings so was worth the effort!

There were no incidents in the first lap, and no reports for the remainder of the race so easy going on the modding front this time out.

UKGPL Season 21, 65 Professionals Trophy
Race 8 (again): Crystal Palace

Amaroo just didn't work out. Who would have thought you would freeze in Oz? So Crystal Palace it is and the comforting rain of an English autumn. I would tell you about the track but I am doing this on behalf of Tim - all I can say is it is short, tight and tough... Hopefully Tim can throw a little more light on it before you all race away... Practice server will be up from Sunday night after the Grads race.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_T7_2
IP address = 62.149.202.168
Race date = 06/9/2011
Time = 21:00 UK time
Track =  Crystal Palace - can be downloaded from http://gplea.rscsites.org/tracks/gpleatracks/crystalpalace/GPLEA_CP_HI.exe
Variant = 65F1
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 35 minutes
Race length = tbc laps
Password: see above

65 Patch: The 2.02 Release of the 65mod can and should be used and can be found here (currently down - also available here )

Driver lists can be found on the Pro championship standings page
The track can be downloaded from :  Standard Pappy circuit
Add-on’s available at : [http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=4220]SRMZ[/url]
Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 8:50 pm UK Time

Reserve drivers should not join the server(s) until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left. Please restrict chat to pit messages. Moderating will be by reported incidents only, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident with a particular emphasis on lap one. The aim is to review the race the following weekend so incident reports should be submitted within five days of the race (ie the following Friday). We're hopeful most incidents can be resolved amicably and recommend a days deep breath with a replay review before posting. A sorry in the forum won't be taken as an automatic admission of guilt by the moderators.
The race will be run on PRO Damage.

NOTE: Please ensure you join the correct server, due to the way we import if you start the race on the wrong server your result will not count.

Reserve drivers should not join the server until there are only 30 minutes of qualifying left so as to give the FULL TIME drivers chance to join, and drivers are not to go out on track until there are 30 minutes of qualifying left as this helps all drivers join the server successfully.

Please restrict chat to pit messages if necessary, and this includes the end of the race, until all running drivers have completed the necessary laps.

Track installed on T7 server and tested with loose grid.
I'm not sure to be online this night.

Thanks Fulvio.

@Ronnie - lap time is sub one minute so it will be of the order of 58 laps or so for a 50 minute race.

The race length is not properly set yet but I will be around tonight if Tim has a problem.

I expect around 53 seconds per lap, so 58 laps sounds right.

It is actually set for 56 laps so you can have a short evening... iGOR is listening as well so if Tim does appear all he has to do is press the buttons... if he doesn't, I'll start it at 9 sharp.

I should be racing and hope things go better here than at Amaroo!

186 - Pro Long gave 56. Wasn't sure if the GP setting was ever used. Never driven in the Pros for some unaccountable reason Wink

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I set a track record on UKGPL3 earlier of 1:01.2... Cheesy

Boring Hell - I suffered in that one.  Embarrassed

Qualified at the back, 1/2 a second down, but the first few laps were Ok, with plenty of action.

After the race settled (for me) after about 7 laps i realised dropping my tyre pressures to combat my over heating tyres in qually was a major mistake. My tyres just wouldn't warm (On Pribluda) so i had no grip. I also realised i had absolutely no chance of catching anyone or being caught (i was last, but 5th!!). So i looked at the lap counter... about 49 to go.. Jesus... So for the next 45mins i lapped the course without pushing (even doing a few laps in 4th to give my clutch foot a rest) and knowing my pace would get me lapped a few times to reduce the pain of doing the full distance. Thought i'd do the full distance though just incase anyone dropped out (a boring but necessary tactic).

Got side tracked this weekend driving the 67 Brabham at Dundrod instead of practicing this track which after an initial few runs i found I just couldn't get into it.  Embarrassed

I've probably lost 3rd in the Championship which is a real shame as i'd loved to have gone down fighting instead of being bored stiff but for various reasons i just wasn't up for it tonight.

Still, all in all a good season which was lost at Porto and Salzburgring with 2 DNF's when my potential pace was good.

Well done to whoever's won the Championship (not got my calculator out yet!!!!)  Wink

Qualified at the back, as expected, but with a better time than expected.
Got off the line in no hurry, making sure T2 was clear of carnage before giving it some welli. Tracked Clutch, Evil, FMG and Raoni around attempting to hang with them at least until they gave up driving 2 abreast everywhere.  laugh  Then Ronnie, in 2nd place,  ran foul of the T2 wall, and removed his 2 nearside wheels, bad luck mate. Followed almost immediately by Raoni spearing in at nearly the same point also breaking a round rubber bit off. I had to take to the infield grass to avoid Raoni as he bounced back into mid track. In doing so, I lost the tail of the group in front, and next lap past the judge was informed I was 8 sec behind. Before I could get back up to full pace that stretched to 16 sec....as the other 2 had been released from their bondage. I gather Evil shot through and left Clutch to his own devices. I tried settling in at a pace that was comfortable and found a couple of laps later I'd begun to claw back time on Clutch way ahead. I could faintly hear Hristo in the near distance catching me up......but kept the hammer down to try and reel in Clutch. Then on lap 15 I made the error of clipping slightly the grass between T1&2, couldn't pull it up in time and knocked the portside rear wheel of the car. T2 wall 3, retired drivers Nil.
Happy with a PB in the 54's though. Been a coons age since I drove the Palace. Not a good return though.
Congrats to the podium and those that managed to finish. And Hristo, FMG and Clutch for snaring the Championship silverware. Well done gents.
Hope there's an Intermediate class next season.   Roll Eyes

Congrats to the podium of Hristo, Tim and Clive. Congrats on the championship as well Hristo. I just read your plans to focus your energies elsewhere. Good luck with the new venture and I'm sure we have not seen or heard the last of you here at UKGPL. Ciao!

Thanks, Ronnie. I can see you achieving a lot of success next season if you can just temper down a little those habits of yours to overdo it in the early laps or when fighting against other drivers, as that seems to have costed you a lot of potentially good finishes.
