THIS RACE HAS BEEN RE-POSTED

Gentlemen,
Time for one last Sunday fun race before the season kicks off.

This will be the inaugural 69 Extra Mod race run by UKGPL & to check how the mod performs under race conditions as a test for this Seasons Spec Challenge.

This will be  a Full Length Grand Prix but run on intermediate settings. Unlimited Shift R is permitted but must be followed by a Stop & Go. In the interest of sportsmanship drivers are requested to start the race fuelled to go full distance.
As we have Resets there will be a conventional start - no rolling start.

The race will be run at in South Africa at East London starting 9pm. Not the most challenging of circuits but seems quite good for racing & has generous run offs.

There will be a free choice of chassis. The great thing about this Mod is the wide selection of cars. Suggest you avoid the non-winged versions but there is still plenty on offer.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL3
IP address = TBA
Race date = 23-10-2011
Track = East London
Time = 21:00 UK time
Variant = 69 Extra
Chassis - free choice.
Damage Model = Intermediate
Qually time = 30 minutes (server will start at 35 mins)
Race length = Full Grand Prix distance
Password = None

The track can be downloaded from here

Hope to make this but I can't see me lasting 85 laps without a toilet break LOL.  I'll probably pull into the pits half way and provided I stop in my box (which takes a bit of care) I should be able to go to the loo, make a cup of tea and return to the race without being discoed (only joking about the cup of tea Tongue).

With my typical attention to detail I hadn't given a great deal of thought to how long the race was going to last! So far I've compromised on Resets & Rolling Starts so we might aswell tweak the race length.
Given the average age GPL stalwarts bladder control is going to be a key consideration. Also, its a Sunday night where most us will have to be up for work the following day.
I think 70 laps would give a race in the region of 90 minutes - I'm sure that will fell long enough.

35 laps of hard work and then got discoed.  Hope it was only me.  Grats to Clive for a stunning pole and Steve Bird for a very fast time.

I discoed too... And I cant get my Igor chat to work, but ukgpl was gone from server list soon after... seems somethings wrong with long races, just like the GT lemans race.

Othervize 69x seems stable and fps is good... but chat gives me terrrible lag sometimes, almost pausing for a split second.

I think my connection was eratic early on & I seem to have lost the first lap- so Prib was all rd & unsure where I aws in the mix. Also experience a few drops in frame rate.
Also had a disco - about 33 laps? not sure if it was linked to Phil's problem.
Managed to blow an engine - but thats crap driving on my part.
Feedback from other involved would be appreciated.

Shame for the disco, but Clive was away with it anyway.  I think he could have stopped for a cup of tea and still come out in front  Grin

All was going ok until the disco, the 49B was going well.

Was kind of hoping to say this from a proper podium slot but nevertheless, just as meaningful:

RIP Marco Simoncelli #58.  You gave us a lifetimes worth of entertainment on and off track.  Ride free fella!  Ciao Super Sic.

I have to apologise for the server issue. My ISP resets my IP address each Sunday - usually around midnight. Tonight they chose 10:30 pm. Hence the Discos. Can't use this server for Sundays but should be OK for the other days. Interested in feedback on connections.

Once again apologies for the Discos.

For me, it appeared fine up until the disco, Paul. No worries, good of you to provide a server. Smiley

Yeah, my connection was solid as a rock too.....til the power went out here!!....... Huh

RIP Marco Simoncelli, sadly another great character bites the dust. One of the hardest, paint-swapper riders I've seen in ages.  I think it's time to dump traction control. IMHO, it contributed greatly to the severity of this accident.
Ciao Marco.

Yes I echo those sentiments about Marco, I was watching the race live on TV and it did not look good for him when it happened...very very sad.
