I really fancy a few races in the 69s.  I probably won't do many 65 races so registered for less than 75% (It's also a Friday which isn't the best night for me).

Just to clarify you are more than welcome to join this Series & only participate in the 69 Extra races or the 65 races or all of them.
Unlike previous seasons there will only be one race with every driver in the same chassis.
69X races will mainly be at established tracks so you can learn the car rather than the track – with the exception of Interlagos which I quite like.
Chassis allocation will be published as soon as I have had chance to test them out. So far I’ve discovered the BRM 69 drives like a pig – so that won’t be on the list.

OK Gents chassis allocation now up.
The 69X has an interesting set of options. We start at Kyalami with the Eagle - this car has No wings so you'd never use it in competition but ideal for a Spec event. (I've finally found the ideal car to slow down Hristo & he's gone & retired!)
Next up the Lotus 63 at Monaco. Chapams tractor hasn't got raw pace but feels stable with good acceleration so will suit powering through those hairpins.
Silverstone is a Brabham but not decided on a winged BT26 or a non wing version - will see how Kyalami goes.
Monza & Interlagos will be the power cars - the Matra & the McLaren M7. The Matra MS10 has compulsory High Wings which look rather ridiculous.
Hopefully a bit of everything.

I guess that GPLRank has not quite caught up with this 69x mod yet, as I can find no laptimes for these newer cars?

Does anyone have a clue what laptimes are achievable in these modified 69'ers? I'm guessing that if the physics etc. are reasonably accurate then the Eagle should be slower than those cars that actually have wings...but by how much??!!

By alot...and the problem is not in the wings, top speed is not good too... At race at waltglen, I did 1.12 with eagle and 1.04/5  with ferrari... Its actually 66 car, but doesnt seem much faster than 65 car. And it was disqualified from a real race for being too slow...

Clive - the '69 Eagle is a real chuggernaut - feels more like a 65 car. I will be hosting a 69X test race on 23/10 at East London  - post to follow soon. I experimented with a few cars to see how the different chassis worked out. Set ups could do with a little work but I think the comparative times were something like 1.28 in the eagle & 1.21 in the Matra. I can't imagine running non-winged cars against winged ones but for a single chassis Spec event it should be fun.

*** IMPORTANT ANOUNCEMENT ***
Following the fun race on 23/10 we found a slight problem with the 69X. I don't understand the technicalities but it is not possible to import the race result into SROU at the  current time (basically as 69X is a new Mod).
This should be capable of a simple fix by Dave Gymer (Giz) but he is away for a  few weeks.

Interim solution is to shift the race calendar around a bit - so the first 3 races up to the Christmas break will be in the 1965 MOD. In the new year there will be 5 consecutive 69 Extra races winding up with 2 x 1965 races after Easter. I have updated this thread so you can see the race order - the tracks & chassis selections are unaltered.
