Wow what a race, gave the Aston a try at about 7:50 & it felt good, so went with that.
Stuck it 2nd on the grid after fluffing sector 1 on my only real attempt to place a qually time, but was happy with that.
Apex was just too solid the whole race, his only week spot being the busstop chicane.
All I could do was follow closely trying to keep the pressure up, I got level once or twice & my nose ahead for about 50 yards once, but as we entered the final lap I'd basically accepted 2nd.
Then as we approach the busstop for the final time, Apex sensibly went into it quite cautiously & it threw me for a second & had to wrestle the car back, I wonder if that distracted him because suddenly Apex veered off (too much power too quickly?) wide left leaving me with an open inside line. Went for it as i saw him recovering so kept it extra tight in the hope we wouldn't now collide, but credit to Apex who left me more than fair room
.
Managed not to mess up the final hairpin & collected a rare chequered flag
p.s. As QS said, nice to see the decent grid & with Lazlow due to return (after about 2 years) next week and hopefully TT & Pete will be back... might need to get in early to avoid disappointment
