Small world, but I keep going to the Shell garage in Hesketh Bank as it's the nearest source of Optimax (or whatever they call it now) for my racey car Watch for a noisy little black 106 spoiling the rural peace and quiet When might you be in Hesketh Bank then Matt? I'll put the kettle on.

Very strange. Spent most of this afternoon preparing for the weeks racing. Really enjoyed throwing the Alfa Romeo T33-3 around this track in GTL. Flat out through turn 11 is breathtaking. Then tried the same thing with the GT40 in P&G. Oh dear . Not at all what I was expecting. Obviously due the better physics, tyre modelling etc you now have to take a very pedestrian route around this circuit. For me it proves yet again that what claims to be a better (more accurate sim) just get's in the way of plain old fun. Doubt I'll bother with this one as, like at that the Jop Siffert circuit earlier in the season, the cars have sucked every last bit of driving va-va-voom from the place. How sad.

That's sad to hear Tony. I like the challenge but I appreciate that many do not. The flip side was that I got bored out of my brain practicing for the Cadwell race because the cars were so gutless. At least these cars will provide me with two weeks of entertainment. I don't water down my PnG. I take it neat! EDIT: You could always join SBRC and gain access to our setup and TT lap exchanges.

Worth a try. Just trying to help.
To try to be serious for a minute, I have found PnG very difficult to learn. Unlike GPL where there are thousands of laps and setups; the analyser to look at them with and also GPLRank to see how you stand in the scheme of things; there is naff all!
Also, there is no community worth talking about or enough races in which to practice.
It isn't difficult to see why GPL has endured for so long.
Nobody else has come close to the complete package since!

I love this circuit, in which I organized a race with the 289 Coupè vs Elan (The "glorious" Manzilli trophy ). Unfortunately even this time I guess that I won't have time to practice... but it's the last race of the season, and I don't want to miss it... Probably I could be able to do some laps late in the night, who knows . Knowing your proverbial precision, I hope to find the server in lobby after the usual Monday GTL race SRBCs, do you have any suggestion about the fastest car in this circuit... or a laptime to aim for? Cu

SRBCs, do you have any suggestion about the fastest car in this circuit... or a laptime to aim for? Cu The Cobra seems to be the faster car here, and my sick fast fellow-buttoms are doing 2.10.xx' and 2.12.xx laps in it. Actually John is using your very good setup, so no need to work on that . I find the Cobra extremely 'touchy', and can't do better than 2.13.990. My average laptime will probably be more like 2.18 Stig

Actually I think I should puncture your tyres to have a chance to compete They seem damn fast latimes, but the hope is the last one to die Thanks again mate. Cu

Hardly worth the rest of us turning up Couldn't better 2.17 in the Corvette last night. Hop into the Cobra and have a go at it Geoffers. Try to shortshift more than you would otherwise, and put an egg between your right foot and the gas-pedal -- it might be worth the effort. I also prefer the 'vette but couldn't do better than 2.18. in it. I wonder if the Cobras are really this hard to drive IRL. Has any of you guys tried a Cobra IRL ? Actually I think all the cars behave strange on this track. Something seems to be wrong with simulation in the tight corners, 'cause even these ' muscle before handling' cars shoud be fairly easy to drive through a corner at 60 km/h . . . . . but they are not. Stig I think it's unlikely that a track would produce the lairy turning of some of the cars in P&G. It's those advanced physics I tell ye

RE: 427 Cobra Never driven one for real but with that much power going to the rear wheels and the damn great engine perched over the front axle I wouldn't expect to floor the throttle in the lower two gears without some lively action with the steering wheel. Interesting article from the time of its introduction http://blog.caranddriver.com/from-the-cd-archives-shelby-cobra-427-road-test-nov-1965/ It is a difficult car to keep on the grey bit but who said it should be easy? Still easier than anything in GPL 67 and getting this car to the end of the race with all its wheels on is an interesting challenge that I am looking forward to!

Not an original one, I've got a modern replica, a Dax, which supposedly has a better chassis & suspension & wider tyres than an original Cobra. It is quite easy to drive on the road (never tried it on a track), but it only has a mildly tuned 350 Chevy motor so isn't producing anywhere near the 500+ bhp of a 427 Cobra & probably not as much as an original 289.

Wow, you own a Dax Cobra ! I envie you Geoffers. Stand your colours mate, turn up in a Cobra thursday The only vehicle with more than a 2 litre engine I drove on a regular basis was a 400 BHP turbo Volvo with 14 fwd gears and a coffee brewer.
