Good race that, bit of a change to the usual wing mirror swapping but thanks to a sweet setup from Mr. Minton (sorry dude lol), others choosing trickier cars and some offs I somehow managed to grab second so well chuffed.
Off the start I was victim to Jeff's Top Gun skills and a Pantera fly-by, leaving me with no choice but to trundle along behind the leading pair and snap at their heels occasionally while they snapped at each others. Luckily they did some synchronised understeering at St Marys, I managed to avoid the sympathy off and grabbed the lead.
Unfortunately I didn't learn the lesson properly and did the same a few laps later rejoining right alongside Bara just in time for the double right. Thought I'd lost the position straight away but off the grass I seemed to have some momentum into the braking zone so put up a gesture of a fight. It wasn't enough and Bara snatched it>. Can't remember what happened next but I found myself 10 or so secs behind him with 15 laps to go and a decent buffer behind me.
Had a good go at catching Bara through the traffic but didn't quite have the legs and with a cut track in the bank was beginning to think I'd rather some points than a stop/go or bent beemer. Last 2-3 laps took it veeeeery easy at St Marys towards the end and through the final chicane (convinced all race that fat rear arch was going to clip it!).
Not sure if it's because there' wasn't much speed differential other than on the brakes or if I just lost my bottle a bit but I found lapping was tricky at times despite everyone driving well. The pressure just to bring it home in one piece made it fun for me but the replay won't be winning any awards.
Championship's hotting up and despite some poor races on my part I'm loving these national tracks with the enduros thrown in to spice it up a little.
Cheers all/ organising people - off to Suzuka we go
