I love and hate Mosport in equal measure Had originally thought to take the Olds M1B but drove it at Bridgehampton instead for all the same reasons I think Ziu took it here.
Decided as it is probably my weakest track I would take my most unfavoured car being the Lola 350. Made a fatal set up mistake at the last minute before the race lowering the ride height a touch to try to give me a little more stability but I forgot the bump over the brow of the hill down to Moss and had to take it a lot slower throughout the race otherwise it spat me into the barrier at the bottom of the hill. As it was I went behind it at least once.
Qualified down in 8th and got stuck behind Misnoimis's slug like 2E off the line, Tried to take the long way around T1 but could not make the pass as once he got it rolling it was transformed. Gave him a few nudges (Sorry) but didn't seem to unsettle him. The race began to sort itself out and as far as I can tell from the replay there were some close battles going on in the mid pack. From my end I was finding completely new places to explore the scenery going off or spinning in places I had never had a problem before. I don't think I got within a second of my PB during qualifying or race. Also (While I'm making excuses)
I lost my gears 2 or 3 times it either wouldn't select the gear I wanted or I had a box full of neutrals. Never had that happen before.
In the end was well pleased, amazed even to find I had finished in 5th, How did that happen?? It felt like I was much further down than that. Sorry if I held up any one trying to lap me, I tried to find a good spot to let people through but I know Geoffers had to follow me through T1 and the long left hander which wasn't my intention at all.
So, 3 to go and I've still got both Chappy's to contend with and one of the other Lola's (Oh Joy)...
Congrats to Ziu on a dominant performance. That little M1B is fantastic on the tighter or bumpier tracks only losing out on the tracks with longer straights. Congrats also to Erling and Matt for taking the remaining podium spots.
Thanks all, as usual it was a blast.
