Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 206s

Spanner passes Sandor at the hairpin but the Falcons power sees Sandor back infront by the braking zone for the chicane.
Sandor does move back over to the racing line a little too soon and almost imediately has to hit the brakes for the turn. This gave Spanner little or no time to react and the inevitable rear contact occured.
This incident would have been avoidable if Sandor had stayed on the line he had passed on and not moved back over to the racing line directly in front of Spanner.

Server replay time: 862s

Dan is lapping Jimmer (racepace) and catches him on the aproach to the hairpin. Dan goes to the right to make the pass but Jimmer seems to lose the rear end of his car slightly and this sends him to the right also.
Just an unfortunate event that ended with no harm done to either party.

Racing incident.

Server replay time: 897s

Sandor, in a falcon, was much faster down the s/f straight than Legzy but did not gain quite enough on him to attempt a pass before T1. Sandor seemed to realise this a little late and hit the brakes in an attempt to avoid contact, but he had left it a little late and clipped the rear quarter of Legzy's car.
No damage was done and Legzy kept his place.

Server replay time: 1047s

Not quite as simple this one.
Again Sandor is faster aproaching the chicane and brakes slightly later to get on the inside of Legzy. Whilst this move was possibly not the ideal place to try an outbraking manouver in a Falcon vs a 'Tina, Sandor does actually get around 1/3 overlap legitimately and therefore has every right to be where he was.
Legzy actually moves right, almost blocking Sandors move, a fair bit earlier than he has done on previous or following laps and turns onto the apex normally leaving no room whatsoever for Sandor and forcing him into the tyre wall.
**NOTE**
Passing and being passed appoaching corners, the critical moment is the turn in point, not the braking point. The earlier the overlap the better, of course, but if the intent is telegraphed with an early move and a reasonable overlap achieved before the lead car gets to the point where it has to turn in, that should be good enough in a gentlemanly racing environment.

  • Legzycaution — Closing the door on a car with overlap
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1344s

Racepace is being lapped by Ade (who gives him a nudge in the chicane). Rp accelerates away normally and starts to move to the right when he realises Ade is still there, so he straightens up and lifts slightly to allow the slower accelerating car through.
This move caught Syd a little by suprise and he tagged the rear of RP's car sending him onto the grass. Syd then moves wide and accelerates away but unfortunately gets a wheel on the grass which sends him into a spin. Both Geoffers and RP are close and have to slow substantially to avoid Syd's car.
Evert is aproaching up the hill under full acceleration but shows no sign (no lift/braking etc) of any awareness or caution to the incident ahead and runs full tilt into the back of RP.

Racepace, whilst trying to do the right thing by assisting a lapping car through, caused a few other problems with his actions. ONLY lift off when it is safe to do so....unfortunately, the lapping car will just have to wait :)

Upto then I would consider this a racing incident.
However Evert's lack of caution must be penalised...regardless of who may be the initial cause of an incident you CANNOT aproach an incident under full throttle causing additional mayhem.

It's a real shame that when you watch the replay you see the un-gentlemanly behavior or some individuals. If I accidently hit another car and they lose it as a consquence I will always wait for them to rejoin and pass me, even if I lose a bucket load of positions in the process, because that's the way that makes this racing the best there is.

Others, it appears, don't have such manners, which like I say is a real shame.

Rant over

It's more helpfull if you report those incidents than to start ranting about it.

No I don't agree. This is about racing etiquette which is not something you should get penalised for having or not having. It's down to the moral fibre of the individual.
Unlike accidents caused by bad driving which I would have no problem reporting.

Morning guys,
Reasonable race for me.
Thanks to Legzy for a great Cortina set up which had me switching from my trusty Falcon, 20mins before the start!
Not quite as quick as the Falcon but not by much.
Had a clean'ish start, saw a Falcon come past me down the hill at warp factor 12 ! no way he has ever gonna make the corner!
Only just brushed me so that was lucky!
Had an absolutely awesome race with Wiltshire Tony for 10th for ages.
The classic Falcon vs Cortina battle that I'm guessing the organisers planned.
I was quicker in the first third of the circuit and was always trying to get inside at the hairpin!
Even if I did Tony just drove away from under power! and I would close up near the end of the lap again.
Lap after lap, bumper to bumper! Then of course I lost concentration, braked on the brow of the hill before the hairpin and slammed into the barrier, luckily missing Tony!
Superb fun, very close, fair racing. it doesn't get any better than that!
After a few more laps, I think Tony span too which left me behind him again. Was really looking forward to round 2 but he must have had a few car/tire issues as I was soon past, shame!  ; Sad

Just wish I was a bit more competitive, there was a glimmer of hope last season but if anything I seem to be getting slower!?  :'(

Thanks all, grats to the alien podium, at least I didn't get lapped!

M.

How do you expect people to improve if they don't know they were at fault. People with good etiquette might feel spoken about, whereas people that did it wrong don't even know it.
Reports are not there just to penalize somebody, they are there to improve the overall racing.

No, again I cannot agree with you. People know if they should wait for a victim to re-pass. It's whether they choose to that's the problem.

@ Blunder, Cheers mate, yes that was too close sometimes. Glad it wasn't a Wednesday night or the outcome might off been different lol.
Wasn't sure till the replay whether it was you or legzy behind me all that time but great racing. Really just that alone made it a good night for me. May it continue.

Phew, that was a fantastic race with Dan, you had the pace, a few tenths all along, but not the luck.

Thanks to Ian for gifting me second with wheel woes.  Wink  Got away in second, but with Bara pressurizing me hard I couldn't settle and was slightly overdriving so Dan pulled away a bit.  Then Bara maybe made a mistake and I was free to run my own pace.  Still I don't think I would have closed on Dan without lapping problems for him, we all had problems on this insanely narrow track (no disrespect to lapped drivers, it was very tricky for everyone), but I'm guessing it may have been trickier for the Cortina with its inability to pass on the straights.

Once I was close to Dan I tried to apply pressure and a small overshoot at the hairpin let me through.  Then we had a brilliant dice, he dived down the inside at the hairpin the first time and I was able to repass on the run to the chicane, so I got to practice my defensive driving, covering the inside into the hairpin, and for several laps we were side by side round the hairpin, both leaving space.  Must have been frustrating, Dan was clearly quicker but the old V8 grunt kept me in there.  That was quality racing between us.   Smiley  Finally got a gap when Dan must have made an error, then apart from losing chunks of time through slight misunderstandings with lappees, I was able to manage to gap to the end.

Another few laps and Dan would have had me though, I was running really good laps but only making 39 dead, lack of traction on the old tyres.  But I made no major mistakes which was very satisfying.

Sorry to hear some people had a bad introduction to UKGTL, it's not usually like that.  Please do put in reports for bad driving after viewing the replay and stick with it.

I myself got a CTD decided to call it a night
Got CTD-ed twice during practice
but when I went to the grid it CTD.
I got the CTD in praccy and rejoined somewhere in a swamp
Same here... somehow I hit rock bottom
I also got CTD'd twice in practice. Never happened to me before at any track. Got in a right panic when it was happening that I might miss the race!

Thanks to Legzy for a great Cortina set up
I just wish I could drive my setups as well as you do Angry

Drove hard all race & was clinging onto 14th spot until about a lap to go, span it at the hairpin right (by dropping into 1st gear too early) & lost two places & the single championship point I'd tried so desperately hard to get/keep  :'( Looking at the final 'Top Ten' finishing spots is like looking at a who's who in Sim racing! (Sorry Martin, you were 11th Grin) With that kind of quality line up I'm not sure I'll ever manage a point again! But I'll keep trying, starting with Watkins Glen (what a track!).

Legzy

p.s. Thanks again admins for sorting the server out so quickly after the race. It led to a great fun praccy session.
