I was pleased to finish another race with only one small mistake - lapping Legzy's E-Type I was busy chatting to Shark on TeamSpeak and just wasn't concentrating on where I was going. Ran onto the dirt on the inside of the first horseshoe, but no harm done. Third was better than I hoped for seeing the grid, helped by a very messy start. The 911 was a good choice for that - not quick enough in a straight line to be in danger of running into the heavy metal ahead, but with excellent brakes and handling to pick my way through the inevitable T1 carnage.

Congratulations to Dave for the third position. He was near to me but my corvette's engine was better than his 911 and my position was out of danger.

Opening laps were 'interesting' - Ayrton was pulling away to the tune of 2-3 seconds down the banking, then I was making all that back up again on the infield section and in the very early laps was in danger of running smack into the back of him in the corner which leads onto the banked section. Shocked laugh angel All the while Shark settled into 4th behind me until his Yank Tank went Sir Falloffalot on him.

Once he'd broken away a little I settled into a rhythm and the gap was pretty consistent; at one point it looked like Paul968 was going to start hunting me down, then his brake problems set in and after that it was a matter of being consistent and just hoping for a mistake from the cars ahead, but one never came.

I did warn the guys about the texture problems here - and whilst hurridly testing (and discounting) the 911 IROC just before the race I discovered Time Trial doesn't work with skipped outlaps either. Roll Eyes My textures went bonkers at the end of practice; I didn't dare reboot for fear of not getting back in, so I just quit and rejoined very quickly, which cleared my texture problem, although I couldn't read any of the text on GTR2XD. After the race I played with rFactor for a bit until eventually the graphics driver crashed properly. Roll Eyes

I think it's clear the server is struggling with the last couple of cars in this field size; whether that's CPU or bandwidth or both I don't know, and it's not helped I'm sure when some of the cars have, shall we say, "suboptimal" connections. Undecided

Nevertheless, I had another good (if not wheel to wheel) race in the RSR. Seeing headlights up on the banking whilst on the infield course was very atmospheric. Cool You don't get that in iRacing! laugh

LOL. I forgot that I went from 18th to 4th on the first lap. So many people fast asleep at the start and then a bunch falling off at T1 meant I just drove by 14 people. Bonkers! It wasn't long before I did the same and fell off at T1 and it all started going downhill from there until the PC f-f-f-froze and killed my engine.

Still amazes me how I can easily drive past so many drivers at the start of all these standing start races. Having to weave around people cause they're still checking their make-up when the lights have been green for a few seconds, it's embarrassing.

Put me down as another one who enjoyed this race thumbup1 Even the flickering track lights & the car lights going out occasionally added to the atmosphere!

Had to take the L88 Coupe as it is such great fun to drive, loads of power & no handling. I got a poor start as the Porsche in front seemed to have taken root, but this was a blessing as several cars decided that the grass was a better route around T1  Roll Eyes Had a bit of a battle with Paul, Jos & Purdie in the opening laps, but they all contrived to go off the track leaving me 4th just ahead of Matt. The gap stayed constant for a few laps, but then I gradually started to pull away until Lele got past Matt & closed up.

I had a job to see where Lele was as his car didn't appear to have any lights & as we approached the chicane on lap 11 he was right behind, somewhere. As I came out of the chicane he was not there, so I hope I didn't cause you a problem Lele. Matt was now behind again & the gap went up to 7s with 3 laps to go so I eased the pace a little so as not to make a mistake & came home a delighted 4th.

Congrats to Sam, Ayrton & Dave thumbup2

As I said I enjoyed my first P&G race for some time, & hope to turn up more regularly from now on.  Smiley

Enjoyed my first race with PnG.
What a truly awesome mod.The cars feel very lively!
I had raced Daytona before with rF Historics so knew the track well and what to expect.
Took the Porsche 911IROC just to be different. (and cos its easy to drive)

Race was going ok. Had climbed from 17th up to 11th.
Then I shifted from 4th gear down into 3rd instead of going up into 5th.
Puff, engine blew up.

Maybe I should have used the paddle shifts but I use the H Patten box with the G25 to make driving these old cars more realistic. Occasionally I go into the wrong gear and this mod does not tolerate such mistakes.

Hate not finishing a race though!

I think on balance I enjoyed that but it was bumpy ride at times. Those dodgy textures were especially annoying - it kept looking like someone behind was flashing their lights at me.

Took the fun to drive albeit expensive 427 and managed to get a 2.05 in qualify in 12th. I was a bit surprised (and apprehensive) to see it was dark for the race but dutifully lined up on the grid.

Still amazes me how I can easily drive past so many drivers at the start of all these standing start races. Having to weave around people cause they're still checking their make-up when the lights have been green for a few seconds, it's embarrassing.

Not only is it embarrassing, its damn annoying Angry For the 3rd PnG race in 4, the driver in front missed the green light by some considerable margin and I rear ended him. Trouble was it took out my lights, which made night driving a bit tricky to say the least. The apexes for T2 and the chicane were almost impossible to see until you were on top of them.

Made a few places up on lap 1 but came a cropper on lap 2 as I missed the turn in point on T1 - had to wait for the whole field to pass before I could move my stranded car. From there it got better and a lot more enjoyable. Got up to 13th where I had an excellent battle with Spanner where it was top end (spanner) versus acceleration (me). There was a hairy moment where I was side by side with spanner approaching the chicane and Andy Charman's engine let go in front of us. Had no idea where braking point was in the haze of smoke Smiley. Finally got past after an unfortunate spin from spanner and finished up 10th so not too bad considering I was at the back.

Definitely still like the token scheme although, as has been discussed, this was not the best track for its debut.

A bit more:
I was late starting because the guy in front was late, I think because of the "frozen Porch"
so sorry if I got in your way McFids. Also, having watche the replay, when you rejoined
after the off at T1 Simon we banged doors, really sorry, but I caould not see you at all
just felt a bump. Purdie was warping somewhat at 1st , at one point he was frozen
mid turn, not biggie, but I assumed it was something like that were the bump
had come from.

Is there a way of the race board showing the different classes of the C2 Corvette?
Jose and I were driving the L76 model, but that doesn't show there.  Smiley

Let me say again, I enjoyed very much last night's race. Awesome!

What a disappointing night after all the practice and effort I put in, I only made the first corner when I hit a stationary red car facing me.  cursing  Looking at my replay, I had a car in front with a sleeping driver,  sleep1 yes had to lift off and all the people behind stormed past.  A few yards before the 250 marker I saw the car in front swerve around the red car  Huh and I hit the brakes - a few yards before the red car my Elan was stood on it's nose and the impact wrecked my car.  nuke Early bath.

Good god!! I've managed to get my name in the lap record list for Daytona. If that doesn't prove that the token scheme throws up unexpected results then nothing will... Wink

If you hover your mouse over your car, where it says "Corvette C2 roadster (#69011)", you'll notice it details which version you drove. It's the same for all the cars, for example, hover over Tibs cobra & you'll see he was in the faster 'Willment' version.

Sorry Chris... what will be the amount of Tokens that you will cut off to me and Icarus, considering that he hasn't started the race and that I run maybe for a hundred meters before I was able to push esc button due to my 0 frame rate?

P.S. I hope I haven't caused any troubles to nobody at the start... I'm sure to have damaged Pippomox, because he said it to me, but really don't know if I've damaged other people... If that happend I'm disappointed but my pc it's really bad... and even if I was pushing the esc button, it was impossible for me to leave the race... I couldn't do much more...

I can't remember whether we used to do this or not, but I have a vague recollection of running multiple servers on the same box. Is it technically still possible to do this (to accomodate more people)? Division 1 and Division 2 (let's call them for the sake of argument). Or were they run on separate nights/times?

We did try simultaneous servers, but it caused problems at the end of each session when the server wrote replays - it's Zips them as part of the writing process and this causes a serious slowdown for the other server, even with dual processors.
