Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 140s

On the warm up lap Dan Minton loses it at Lesmo 1 and spins the car. He makes a rejoin before the field has passed and causes Edza to brake hard. Paddy Cummins then loses it trying to avoid Edza and goes off.
Dan then overtakes 5 cars on the run down to Ascari. He then ovetakes 7 cars on the straight after Ascari and makes side contact with Demonic Dan while squeezing up the inside at the Parabolica when everyone engages the pit limiter.
The rules are clear on this matter and any driver that loses position on the formation lap must not attempt to gain back any lost positions.
Also any driver who leaves the track on the formation must ensure that they rejoin safely, even if this means letting the entire field through.

  • Dan Mintonpenalty — side contact with Demonic Dan — 2 places lost (plus 6 for penalty points)
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded
  • Dan Mintonpenalty — bad rejoin on formation lap — 1 place lost (plus 6 for penalty points)
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded
  • Dan Mintonpenalty — overtaking on the formation lap — 3 places lost (plus 6 for penalty points)

Server replay time: 553s

On the approach to Roggia Popabawa is braking hard and moves to the inside line as Dan Minton and Rich_A battle with each other directly in front.
Dan leaves a cloud of tyre smoke, Pops brakes cautiously and Maurice gets caught out and clips the rear of Pops' car and spins him out.
Maurice tries to avoid the contact but just tags the rear of Pops as he heads for the gravel in avoidance.
In mitigation Maurice was probably distracted by the cloud of tyre smoke from the cars ahead and also by Pops' slightly early braking. Also, in trying to avoid Pops Maurice gets a stop/go penalty for running onto the gravel so I am reducing the penalty from 2 places to 1.

Server replay time: 560s

After the above incident Pops is left stranded on the kerbing in the middle of the Roggia chicane,
Don is approaching and as he turns in for the chicane he is already under heavy braking and cannot avoid hitting Pops.
The 2 cars bounce off eachother as Sponsored by Ginsters luckily shoots through safely between the colliding NGT Legends Porsches.

It was quite interesting driving the 911.

Quite nice to finally get a full comparison of all the cars in real race situations as I've done full seasons in the F360, Mosler and Morgan and now I've had a go in the 911.

Morgan IS the best handling NGT. Unfortunately it is neither the quickest down the straights nor has as much grip round the corners as the other NGTs. Because it is VERY stiffley sprung it bounces all over the place so can be very hard to control with FF on. Personally I love it, but it's not competitive enough with the other NGTs.

F360 I can't make my mind up on. On the one hand it has the best engine sound (obviously very important when getting a fast lap time), but on the other hand you have to cane the hell out of it to make it go fast. It's ultimately a bit too twitchy for my liking although you can tune a lot of that out in the setup. It's reasonable on the brakes if you can hold her steady. In a straight line I find it off the mark. Maybe it's the setups I use but it never seems fast enough in a straight line compared to the 911 and the Mosler is only just behind it in a straight line too (very close straight line speed between 360 and Mosler I think).

Mosler has probably become my favorite NGT. I've just somehow managed to find out how to setup the car perfectly for me and that makes it feel fantastic to drive. It has loads of grunt ouf of the corners and is good on the brakes if you need it to be (especially as I can set it up with the most rear brake balance of any car enabling me to brake later and more into the corners). I also think it has the highest slow/mid speed corner speed of any of the NGTs. It's starts to lose out to the F360 and 911 around the very high speed corners but other than that has tremendous corner speed. It is not as quick as the 911 in a straight line without compromisng the wing settings. Once it starts to stretch it's legs the 911 starts to pull away and to a small extent so does the F360. The way I drive it and with the setups I have now I do find this the most stable NGT car and easiest to drive for an entire race.

Finally onto the 911. After just one full race in anger (although not my first time in the car by any means), it's a bit harder to judge, but my findings were (and this included running a high wing setting in practice build up to this race for comparison)...way quicker in a straight line. Even with high wing the 911 just pulls and pulls and pulls towards the high speeds, very handy for getting away from the opposition. Brakes - well this is interesting, it's not the easiest to brake hard in, but it does seem to have the greatest stopping power of all the NGTs. I couldn't quite get the right setup on the brakes for me and from what I've seen of 911s in races it has a frequent problem of locking either of the rears (usually just the one) under braking. Handling wise it's a bit bouncy and twitchy but has far less lift off oversteer than the other Porsches especially with tweaks to the setup. I didn't feel it had the highest grip of the NGTs round the bends, but it has a very good turn in and excellent under power out of the corners. The other thing I noted from practice was how easy it was to overheat the rears with just one spin or even with the odd mistake. The other NGTs don't suffer as much with this as the Porsche does.

Sorry, hope I didn't bore you. If you're still reading this then I thank yee for your patience and hope it was of some interest to you.

What an awful way to finish the season. There was less than a second in qual between 5th and 18th place, should be a good race I thought....Well it probably would have been if I'd clicked the correct set up after quali. 2 laps in and touching the brakes caused the back to decide it was the front, knew I had a problem and thought wiser to quit than kill someone elses race. Apologies to Bri who I caught out on rejoin after the chicane. Thanks Mo for all your hard work modding this event, I know its hard work! And thanks SimRacing for hosting. Finally get this bloody game running without 1fps bug and its time to shelve it..... Embarrassed

The competition has been so tough for this series, that even managing to creep into the points on the odd occasion has been a daunting (frustrating) job for a tail-end runner like me. The racing has been hard but fair and on those basis alone has had me comming back for more.

Thanks to all the back room boys for making this happen and for giving up your time and patience so that we can all enjoy our racing in a friendly, competitive and well conducted manner.
Thanks

I think the points are incorrect for the teams sharks should get 11 we get 4 points....

Points are handed out according to the top two of each team drivers only, so we have:

1. Team Shark (Ruskus) - 10
2. Ze Penguin Brotherhood (TrueTom) - 8
3. Team RVS (Minton) - 6
4. RS Motorsport (Grinsomat) - 5
5. Team Shark (Shark) - 4
6. Dutch Turtles (jan duijs) - 3
7. NGT Legends (popabawa) - 2
8. Kerb Crawlers (ginsters sponsored) - 1

So the Sharks get 14, RS get 5.

What a complete disaster for me, practiced loads for this race getting into the 1.51's on full tanks, Monza always been my strongest circuit... Best in qualifying was a 1.53.xx cursing This put me 21st on grid.

Race wasnt any better, all race never managed a lap quicker than 1.54.2 which is at least 2 secs slower than i was doing in practice  Angry

No worries Locotus m8, want to apologise to Mo, he came out the pit lane a lap up on me, Wasnt sure whether to pass or let him through and ended up causing Rob B and Mo making contact (havent seen replay yet, so not entirely sure...) because of my hesitation under braking for T1. Kind  of summed up my race, no season in fact.... Sad

Like already said, big thank to all who orginise and run the leagues etc  thumbup2

I thought this just might be my worst race here, but it isn't. Roll Eyes

The driving part wasn't that bad but I outbraked myself a couple of times and the game just gave me a stop&go, 3 times that is. I got my first stop&go when I tried to avoid someone who was rejoining the track. I had enough room so it was my own stupid mistake Sad Then I tried to avoid someone who braked a bit early, locking my brakes, going straight through the gravel and getting another stop&go. When I tried to serve my penalties I got another stop&go for speeding in the pitlane Huh After I served all my penalties I was in 19th place I think. Continued racing and crashed into a barrier with only 8 minutes to go, splitter was gone so I decided to give up Cheesy

I've always thought the game wouldn't penalise you when you held your brakes and slowing down to a certain speed when cutting a corner. Seems like it still penalises you for it.

Didn't expect anything from this race so I'm surprised that I still got this far in the race Cheesy

Nice race. Don't know which I enjoyed more - being 3rd or having a non-1fps bug event.  Grin

Bested MJ in quali again, which is additional +  Tongue  but buggered myself in the first lap, locked (cold) brakes and tyres in a second chicane (Variante della Roggia) which made possible for him to squeeze through. Followed him for some laps but even entering a slipstream didn't help my F360 to overtake his piggie. What I gained on braking and entering the corner, exiting even, he matched in speed on the straight. He even didn't have to bother with defensive driving too much, well driven, Mark! There I must disagree, Shark, I think F360 has better stopping ability than a Porsche, this was confirmed when I followed Grinsomat later, his breaking was so long that I had to lock my brakes several times to avoid hitting him under braking - I even half spun 'cause of that once.

Anyway, after Ruskus clipped me (np, it happens in close racing  Smiley ) I lost a place or two and gained them after MJ and Shark had their love affair  Kiss . There was a train of four cars - Grinsomat, Dan Minton, Ruskus and me - for quite some laps, changing positions several times. We were all driving up to max possibilities of the circumstances, well done. After Dans mistake and later a close duel between Grinsomat and Ruskus (which almost cost me dearly, had to brake HARD in Parabollica  Shocked ) I was suddenly 3rd, which I was able to hold to the end. Totaly undeserved, according to my quali time (10th).  Undecided  Would be better if I had any pratice, but I didn't know if I'll even join this race 'cause of my hardware problems, decided to do it anyway and came straight to q2 session, where I tweaked my last seasons setup a bit, not tested any of the race setting and went to race "what will be, will be."  Grin

Great win, Mark@GP, well done. Seems I was really lucky in Oschersleben, to be able to keep you behind me there. Congrats!  thumbup1

Also, organization of the championship was superb, well done to all contributors and a big  clap and  thumbup2

TT

The start of the race was ok. A spin on the formation lap didn't harm anything as I thankfully kept it out of the wall. Back on track and I tried to make up a place on Edza into turn 1. I managed to give him a slight push but no harm done although I didn't make up a place. I did make up a few positions then as other drivers ran into trouble but something big was in store for me. I was coming into Lesmo 1 and ran a little wide. I was going quite fast and running on the outside of the track. Just then, I noticed a slow Porsche (Edza) and contact seemed inevitable. And boy Jaysus was it big! Both myself and Edza needed to pit and I felt really bad about what happened, sorry mate. It wasn't done on purpose, I just should have concentrated more and I take absolute full blame for the incident. After the pits, I let Edza pass me out, which was the least I could do. I just trundled on home then trying to not mess up anyone elses day, which I don't think I did.

No worries there Paddy, think I was recovering from a spin at the time but enjoyed having someone to race in close quarters with even after the smash. It was only after the race watching the replay that I noticed how much both our cars looked like lego with bits missing after it!  Cheesy Got a pb in the race and think I remember being "in the zone" at one stage which probably means I went 5 laps without having a spin Grin Grin Grin

Got to finish the race in the end and enjoyed every second. It's been said before but cheers again to all the moderators and facilitators for this league, you've put a lot of smiles on a lot of faces!

Nice one Shark, havent really driven the Morgan that much so couldnt comment but what you youve said about the other cars i totally agree.   911 is defo the quickest car if you can get a good set up which takes some time ,  love driving the ferrari but find it too nervous under braking to drive for a whole race but maybe its just  case of set up.  Short and sweet couldnt be bothered to go into one.

Have to say a big thanks to all those who run the leagues Gizmo etc , you know who you are. Dont know how you find the time , im sure many hours are spent into the early hours of the morning. Wink
Love driving in these leagues , theres a good range of ability and the spirit of the racing is first class .  Made my share of mistakes over the past 7 months but suppose everyone does.   Gutted that GTR1 is nearing its end :'( as ive only just started to get set ups dialled in after a year of playing so hopefully GTR2 lives up to the hype and the great racing contiues.

Thanks

Grats to GTN and Claus on the championship - awesome pace at every track.

Grats also to Mark on his first win last night, definitely a driver that has got much faster in recent races, well done.

Race for me was a great challenge, trying to follow Claus and just managed it for the first half of the race (although I think Claus might have been taking it easy Wink). Then I saw an incident ahead as I entered Ascari and as I went through the smoke I saw a green and white GTN parked in the gravel - Bad luck Claus  Sad

So then I found myself in the lead but a lapse of concentration on the last lap but one saw me miss my braking point into the Parabolica and, with a smashed splitter and a puncture I had to pit.
Dropped to well down the order and when I rejoined from the pits and braked for turn 1 I just slid all over the place - the pit crew didn't replace the tyres!!

.....want to apologise to Mo, he came out the pit lane a lap up on me, Wasnt sure whether to pass or let him through and ended up causing Rob B and Mo making contact (havent seen replay yet, so not entirely sure...) because of my hesitation under braking for T1. Kind  of summed up my race, no season in fact.... Sad

It was actually having the flat tyre that made me slide all over the place and go off. Not your fault at all Flybri and I'm glad I didn't cause an accident between the three of us Shocked

Cheers to all the admins and drivers for the racing during the season and look forward racing again in GTR2 Cool

No worries there Paddy, think I was recovering from a spin at the time but enjoyed having someone to race in close quarters with even after the smash. It was only after the race watching the replay that I noticed how much both our cars looked like lego with bits missing after it!  Cheesy

lol, Cheers Mate!  Smiley

Not the greatest race Ive had this season - I hate this track  Angry - havent worked how to drive through the 2nd chicane, after the long right hander. It scares me that much (always spin there) that I drove so slowly my Grannie could have done a quicker job in her 1.1 Fiesta!
However qualli was pleasing, equalled my PB (1.53.6), but like Flybri couldnt get anywhere near it in the race, bloody chicane! Drove most of the race alone, left the door open for Picnic early on and he didnt refuse the invite, 1 or 2 little incidents but nothing of any consequence.

Ive really enjoyed this season, done a ton of practice and its really starting to pay off with my times getting better and better - its just a shame that everyone elses times are getting better also!

Congrats to both the team and individual winners  Grin

Thanks to the rest of the Kerbies for their help this season  Grin

But most of all BIG thanks to Dave, Picnic, all the moderators, and everyone else who make this league an absolute joy to drive in - well as long as its not Monza!!  Grin  Grin

Hope this all carries over to GTR2.

Cheers
