Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 38s

Blunder thinks it's a rolling start and completely fails to move at the start for over 5 seconds, causing chaos as other cars have to brake and swerve to avoid him.

Server replay time: 45s

As the start goes, Mike Hammer spins across the track right into the path of Jebstone Boppman. Jebstone has nowhere to go and crashes into Mike.

This is a dangerous place to spin, at the front at the start of a race, and should be avoided.

  • Mike Hammerpenalty — Self spin with contact — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 49s

Just as the field is leaving start Mike Hammer spins. He's then waiting at one side of the track. Then as Tibernius is approaching him, he just rams into Mikes parked car.

  • Tiberniuspenalty — Lack of care approaching an incident — 3 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 205s

Morten is looking at the inside of MJ, locks a wheel and makes slight contact before backing off. Mike Hammer runs into the back of him as a result. Mike then gets tagged himself by Mr BMW.

Mike is a quick driver but spun under his own steam during the start and then failed to take account of being at the back of the pack when estimating safety margins.

  • Mike Hammercaution — contact with Morten
  • MortenS (Morten)caution — contact with Marc Jonzo
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded
  • Mr.BMW (Jebstone Boppman)caution — contact with Mike Hammer
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1520s

Madd-RIP has just passed PRibeiro and is closing fast on Ruskus. As they approach the 3rd to last turn, Madd-RIP brakes late and touches Ruskus' rear, forcing Ruskus off the track. Madd-RIP spins, and PRibeiro passes both for the lead.

This should be avoided as Madd is closing this fast he would have had plenty of opportunities to pass later. However I choose to see this as simply missing his braking zone.

  • Madd-RIPpenalty — Rear-ending — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 2100s

Tibernius spins in turn 1, in the middle of the ideal racing line. He then spins the car around ending up outside the racing line, but still on the track. Then he's slowly driving down into the racing line just infront of Baracus.

Try to get up to speed and check mirrors before getting back into the traffic. If' you'd just kept your car in the outside throught this turn, the rest of the traffic would have time to adapt to your speed.

  • Tiberniuspenalty — Bad Rejoin — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 2213s

After passing Tibernius, Madd-RIP misses braking and gois off the track. He then rejoins behind Tibernius, as they are closing the last turn. In the final turn Tibernius slows down, as he thinks Madd is passing him on the outside, which he is not. Madd is trying the use Tibernius' draft. So when tibernius is slowing Madd has nowhere to go but straight into Tibernius' rear end.

Never do unexpected things like this when a car is as close as this. I can't believe you didn't see him in your mirrors, but if you don't, don't do anything untill you're sure where the drivers around you are. You could also flash your lights to let him know to pass you.

  • Tiberniuspenalty — Dangerous behavior — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Re the 906 tendency to lockup under heavy braking, I find it is a problem of changing down too early and locking up the transmission - wait for it.  oops

Bill

The brake balance on the standard setup is too far to the rear, which locks up the back wheels when you brake. (as proved by Kimi at Monza)

Blip and slightly hold some throttle under braking.

Could you please specify which corvette is admitted into these races. Last race I trained with the Team Shark Corvette, which was not permitted in the race.

I've asked the same question: you can use either of the '69 or '74 'vettes, the ones that weren't used last time.

Thanks, Tib. I'll probably not use any of them, but still it's nice to know my options.

But after a testing session offline at this track today, I found the track to seem quite buggy. I had a man standing quite comfortable 1000ft up in the air, just watching the race peacefully. Also though the framerate were steady, I seem to lag a bit sometimes (offline). And some of the dark paved bufferzones off the track sometimes felt like driving on sand, and other times like concrete Undecided even with the texture looking the same all over.

Thank god someone else has seen that guy. I put it down to my medication. NURSE, NURSE!

I another thing I've noticed is that the racing surface looks like very rough gravel.

On my machine the textures improve when I drop to direct x 8 but even with very high frame rates the track still seems to jump in places, just like lag except offline.

To be honest I don't think the track is up to the usual SROU standards. I get some lag offline and I've noticed the error with the grass/gravel/concrete (outside of the first hairpin bend).

I was online practising last night. Two others joined (poodleKeith and poodleAndy?) and we got loads of track miss match messages. Their cars seemed to be in the air all the time not on the track. They said my car also was up in the sky although from my perspective everything was fine. I left multiplayer, deleted my Interlagos folder and re-downloaded and re-installed. But when I went back to multiplayer they had gone so I had no way of testing if the problem was fixed or not.
I will probably be online late tonight for practise.

If these bugs show up during the race I reckon it will end up like the Sugo endurance race a few days ago. This track doesn't seem good enough to be used. Too late to swap it now though.

We know that that was down to a network problem with the server.

I have seen no problems with the track in my original testing other than the grainy track surface. IF there are major problems with mismatches etc on the night then I will make a decision at the time about whether to run the race or not.

Please make sure you download the track from the SRou source in case your track is different to that being used on the server.
