The Lawrence Clemo Memorial Trophy
2011 --- Ade TVR All members welcome. Grid/server capacity: 28 Practice: ~19:40 (60 mins) Qualifying: RANDOM GRIDRace: 20:40 (26 laps) Track: Old Ring Park Download thisCars allowed: Ferrari 250 GTO Download this, TVR Griffith 400, Lotus Elan Time of Day Setting: 15:00 Start: STANDING Tyre wear: 2xFuel consumption: 2xServer: simracing.org.uk LCMT Password: see aboveNotes: (1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage. (2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules. (3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read Autopit="0" Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable. Special Notes: None

Planning to race here. Tony good news Norton has learnt I want to download from Amazon S3 and only gave an amber warning with the option to run anyway. Hopefully next time it won't even do that.

Planning to race here. Tony good news Norton has learnt I want to download from Amazon S3 and only gave an amber warning with the option to run anyway. Hopefully next time it won't even do that. It's a fast circuit and quite easy to learn. If anyone wants to suggest other cars to take part, I'm more than happy to see if they compare. Not the Porsche 904 unfortunately. It's minute fuel consumption makes it a real pain to add to events with pit stops.

After a bit of practice 32 laps seems too much for a 60 minutes race. At my average pace 32 laps would be about 70 or so minutes. With tyre degradation slowing you down as well it would be even longer. My best lap times so far were in 2.13 range. Even if fastest guys can go under 2.10 over a single lap, it still a few laps too long.

Thanks Syd. Thought I'd sorted this but it may of slipped my mind e.g. mean't to do it but haven't. Let me run a few test's and I'll post back here in about an hours time. EDIT: Number of laps has been reduced.

I'm yet to learn the track, but would it be necessary to make pitstops for fuel? I better practice those if so.

Ok I think I'm ready. A bit of a shock though. Breaks, steering and handling totally different to GTR2 but I think I can get used to it.
I managed to get 2.15 on this track with the Lotus, I don't think I'll be able to use anything more powerful than that for a while and I won't be competitive with anybody but if that is ok with you guys then ill see you tonight.

Reminder about Pit proceduresIt's been a while since we did pit stops in a race so I thought it might avoid errors in the race if I mentioned a few points here. - Make sure your AI is turned off (follow instructions in the first post)
- Make sure you have keys /controls assigned to the pit limiter and pit board commands(these are set up under controls in-game)
- When pitting engage the limiter before the pit entry lights
- The fuel shown on your pitboard is the amount currently in your car and not the amount that the pit crew will put in your car
- When your pit stop time is shown you can leave your box but put the limiter on again or you will get a stop/go penalty
- Turn off the limiter once you have cleared the pit lane exit lights or any lines across the lane
Finally, practise a couple of stops if you can just to get the hang of it. Approach your pit crew chief slowly and you should box OK. Otherwise reverse up a bit and try again.

Game froze when Tibernius joined. Cannot rejoin the game - freezes again when Tibernius is loaded. Which car are you using? Seems that I have to miss another one. Unable rejoin the game. Tibernius can't be loaded Hope that I sorted it out - Elan skins from the skinpack were not installed

That was a 26 lap race, why "red mist" at T1. I braked early to allow for people in front bunching up and somebody gave me clout up the back, there were cars everwhere off track. When I tried to rejoin clouted again. Ended up facing wrong way with cars coming at me so quit.

Could have been worse I suppose.
As Bill said there were a few of us got taken out at turn 1 I'm not too bothered though accidents happen, after that got into a bit of a rhythm and settled down until I had a few spins (one of which was due to a kamakazi Guinea Pig running along the track) :-)
Thought that the car was ok but soon became almost uncontrollable due to suspension damage so I pitted in on lap 11 or so cost me over 2 mins (forgot to add fuel) DUH. I thought I would wait till it gave me the message saying I was low then I was going to pit and add some, but I didn't know there is no audible warning and I saw the gauge was just about empty as I passed the pit lane then at the end of that lap ran out on the hairpin right. Sorry If I held someone up there.
Happy enough for my first race with you guys.
See you for the next one hopefully :-)
